I had a really cliche'd idea for Izumi/Kaz:

Kaz is crushing on Izumi, possibly because she's the first person to talk to him.

So he tries to ask her out. Several times.

Each time, something like this Happens:

"Hey Izumi, wann-" *mask goes on, vanishes.*

Meanwhile, in his head...

"You guys have GOT to stop going on dates in the middle of my conversations!"

"We're in love, be happy for us!"

"NO!"

Depending on your writing skill that could have a lot of potential comedic value (see: Red Oni and Blue Oni), but it is hardly something worth discussing or repeating over and over here in the OOC.

Yes. Yes they are. The Hollow is female. Because it amuses me.

He already has Shinigami powers and the mask, the mask is a relatively new addition though. The Hollow isn't all that hostile, and takes over Kaz's body solely so she can see the world. She's like Kon, playfully mischievous.

The mask provides a power boost, kinda like Ichigo's mask. But less overpowered.

I'll go update Kaz's charsheet now.

Again, you haven't answered the how. How did he get these powers, both Shinigami and Vizard?

...No, not like that. Sure the Hollow constantly tries to take over his body, but I'm playing that one thing for comedic effect. During the rest of the plot? Oh hell yeah. It's going to be trying to consume him the entire damn time.

One day, when Kaz was out, he was attacked by a hollow. He didn't manage to kill it fast enough, and it cut his arm. When he sliced it in half, the Hollow's blood got into him, and thanks to the Hollow's godforsaken special ability, manifested as an Inner Hollow. While Kaz has come to terms with the Hollow (setting rules about how often it can go out, and allowing it out at regular intervals), it continues to try to take over his body.

One day, Kaz was walking along, minding his own business, ignoring the spirits around him, and then he got the wonderful treat of being ran straight into by a Shinigami. Said Shinigami was running from a Hollow. Seeing as Kaz really didn't care, he followed the Shinigami around for a while, and then became rather shocked by the giant Hollow monster of DEATH. While attempting to help, the Hollow beat the hell out of Kaz, then proceeded to bring the Shinigami to near death. The shinigami beat the Hollow by using his Zanpakuto's Shikai ability, which sacrificed him. The Shinigami decided to give his powers to the nearest possible person, and the only one who kinda knew what was going on... Kaz.

Not to mention, apparently your character has both Shinigami powers and a Vizard mask by game start.

You do realize, unless you notably downplay both of these, he's going to frankly be too powerful? Izumi, our other Substitute, will have just gained her powers. Valeria, our Living Vizard, will have only her mask, which is actually comparatively weak.

Yet your character has both his Shinigami powerset, and his mask.

Tell me, does he have his Shikai already too?

I know that some of the feedback you get can sound really harsh, but Knight's not trying to make you feel bad or put your idea down...he's simply trying to raise these issues now so they don't become an even larger problem in the future. Comprendo?

I was thinking more of a beginning powerboost of what happened in Ichigo v. Grimmjow (Round 2):

Ichigo attacks with mask.

Barely hurts.

It still represents a boost above and beyond regular shinigami abilities.

Which is all Izumi will have. And more than Michiko or Kaito or other Mortals will have.

In other words, it would still make him too powerful.

Let's not ignore the fact that he was pretty much tanking attacks from the 6th Espada in full release. That's no mean feat. He'd likely have been slaughtered if he didn't have his mask on.

On a more serious note, I have a general concern with the two proposed plots. They intend to involve all of the spiritually aware mortals (at least at the school)? This could get awkward and clunky, as there are a lot of them. I don't know, maybe its just me, but I think we should have several smaller plots for smaller groups of characters to start off with. Also, from a story perspective it seems pretty forced to have everyone to just get their powers at exactly the same time. I'd like to hear what everyone else's opinions on the matter are.
