I can't speak for everyone, but personally, it skeeves me out a bit to see/read people hitting on each other via online fora. It's like the interweb equivalent of a PDA. So if you flirters out there could either take it down a notch or take it to PM, it would be much appreciated by yours truly.

Quite apart from the fact I think you're fighting a losing battle there given the extent to which flirting has become a part of this thread, I think the point of forum flirting is that it's fun but not really that serious. If it moves to PM that would (To me at least) imply more of a level of seriousness.

Not at all, my mother says. Granted, she's in the "responsible middle-aged woman" insurance bracket instead of the "panic, he just got his license" bracket, but her insurance didn't even bother asking what it meant.

Getting custom plates puts one into the subset of people who buy custom plates for their vehicles. The way it was brought up was that this subset of people have a tendency to be more reckless than the general population of drivers, and so insurance rates will take this into account if such a thing is known to them.

Sort of along the lines of being a man below the age of 25.

I have never heard of an insurance company do this. Not even ever. Then again I do not keep up with US insurance trends, so you never know? It just seems like too much of a tiny thing, that a minority of people do that the additional paperwork it would cause for the company wouldn't make it worth doing.
