ASSASSINS VERSUS BODYGUARDS: "Grace"

Grace exits the room to read the note before she gets ready for her next day.

it says simply "elf at the docks, sundown tomorrow."

Grace leaves the room, returning to the room Punchinello provided her 'friend'. Before going to sleep, she brews up a few samples to take with her tomorrow to the meeting.

Grace leaves the following morning. Time to work as an errand boy, and see if she could get a little more trusted.

If she doesn't have the trust later today, she has a Plan for the next time she has to send a message somewhere well away from the mansion.

The butler sends his new errand boy on several trivial tasks throughout the morning. Just at midday, he calls you into his office.

Grace sidles into his office. You wanted me, sir?

[planswalker]

"You have been very diligent these past two days, and i want to know something: do you think you are ready to meet the master of this house? He needs a personal runner, but his old messenger took lame yesterday. Will you fill in until he recovers? If so, you will need to be at his beck and call day and night. Can you handle that?"

[sum1won]

I reckon I can do that, sir. About how long till his usual is mended?

[planswalker]

"Possibly as long as a week. Now go get yourself clean and report back to my office tomorrow morning. I will assign you new temporary quarters near to the master's. you will remain there unless he calls for you. You will be given three meals a day of leftover food from the lord's table itself, and will be paid 5 silver for your services."

5 silver? I reckon I'll be able to afford a whole bath to get clean in!

With that, Grace leaves. Its time to take a bath Let the count know of this latest development, and that she might not be around much the next couple of days.

The count's "apothecary" is quickly ushered inside.

So, I thought I should let you know that I'll be out of contact for a few days- I'll, be running errands and messages for Julian personally, so we should get the information you need, soon.

[planswalker]

he seems positively delighted at this news. "Well, my dear, this is the best news I've heard in a long time."

Grace exclaims, jokingly

That eager to be rid of me for a week? No matter. I'll be off, then.

She smiles again, and leaves, looking for her friend the bard to see if she can't convince him to cast Nystul's to hide the magic aura on her bag of holding and armor.

[planswalker]

"Before you go, please take your week's pay in advance. this is exactly the reason why i hired you."

Grace does just that, and leaves again to find the bard.

you find him strumming idly just outside the Maid and the mermaid.

Hey, Ludger! Thanks for the tip- I've been working for your friend for a few days now. If you've time for a quick drink, I'll let you in on a few pieces of gossip. I do have a favor to ask, though...

"Why, certainly! buy me a round of drinks and you can ask whatever you want."

Grace takes him into the Maid and Mermaid and orders a glass of ale for each. When they finish that, she orders another, just because.

Well, I've been asked to monitor and infiltrate a household for Wolfhart- he's certain that they're up to no good. I'm inclined to agree, and really don't want to be caught. Mind hiding the magical aura of my bag, bracers and shirt?
Assuming he complies, she continues with the gossip for some time.
Anyways, Wolfhart seems to have gotten a bit of an itch for adventure again. Oh, and theres a new up-and-comer in the merchants guild- Punchinello. I helped him secure a contract recently, you know... Maybe you've heard of him?

"That old coot is getting restless again? I can't say i'm all too surprised. He came here to retire because it was quiet and at peace with all its neighbors. He thought he could avoid temptation here. Then this whole succession thing hits and he feels the call again. Please do your best to try to convince him to keep from donning his old armor and doing something stupid.He is not a young man anymore."

"As for hiding your gears' auras, sure i can help. just promise me that you'll keep me updated with all your gossip from time to time. Now that punchinello fella is quite the man of rumor. he just blew into town last week and already has a guild license. Someone high up is giving him a boost."

Grace chats with him a little more before leaving for her appointment at the docks.

a rumor you heard is that humans aren't particularly welcome at the docks. Stories of humans disappearing there and turning up piece by piece the next today are rather too frequent to ignore. Nonetheless, you go to meet the elf at the docks at sundown, having made an excuse with Lord Eichel to be relieved of duties for just tonight, saying that your mother has come down sick. When you get there, a humanoid in a cowl greets you and says, "You the one that 'shandy' sent?"

Grace grins, revealing a mouthful of what appear to be razor sharp teeth.

Yeah, I'm that one. I'm told you're useful to my potential enterprise. How so?

I'm capable of supplying certain illicit substances. Some have certain recreational uses, which can be habit forming. Others are more offensive in nature.

I need someone who is capable of running distribution and sales. Discreetly.
