I like Byrnbot's idea, except I think that it'd be nice to have rather more than four spots reserved for regulars; maybe up to eight or so. If you had gradiated ranking instead of just 'Djinn designates this person as non-bootable' then people would probably be less irritated about it, too. You could do it by amount of time spent on the server, or something else even more complicated and difficult. Encourage people to donate, and if they do, bump them up a rank, or make it so they can't be autobooted, or something.

if any moderators were online and a community member wanted in, they said the following: "[So and so] wants to get on the server, if you are kicked, sweet pubbies, it's nothing personal, try again later." Then they kick a random pubbie.

I don't know how it will happen, but I'd be VERY happy to see more regulars on ChHa more often. I haven't put much thought into it but maybe the 25-slot solution could work.

I'd also be happy to help fund any new servers if we need them, but I think the overflow of pubbies will end after the Engineer Update is over.

I still think that we need more (public) servers. The server gets filled, people can't get in. The solution isn't going to be to just have a plugin that kicks pubbies so that we can join. We should just get a second server (I think we should reduce the amount of people in both). Two 18's seems to me to be much better than one 24. The plugin someone posted a link to could of course be useful so that we can always get an admin on.

Just use hidden reserved slots.

I'd recommend against more than a handful of reserved regular slots, BTW. If there's not a lot of regulars online, you can wind up with several slots empty even though people want to play. The "kick for reserved slot" method is better in that case.

I fail to see why this is a supercombo. Explain to me why it is OP, because all I can see is essesntially you using the system's current inability to recognise that changing between the Gunslinger and Wrench will result in changing the current sentry equipped.

I fail to see the reason why you explode. It is a superfluous step. It is superfluous because it is not needed, just like this sentence that has been added. Just walk into respawn with your wrench equipped and switch to the Gunslinger when in spawn.

+25 health is not such a great boost for the Engie. He is normally a lighter class, and the addition of 25 health simply makes him slightly more durable. I fail to see why simply adding 25 health to a usually non-combat class would make him any more deadly. It merely means there is more of him to kill when stupid Engineers try and turtle Lvl 3 Sentries during a major rush.

You wanna see OP? Try and remember original Backburner perks. Now that's OP.

Edit: Also, I love the new Wrangler, makes me feel like I'm a real machine-gunner. Good for Redfort and stuffs.

Reserved Slots
I'm actually also in favour of reserved slots, since I've found myself unable to log on recently and, clearly, this is all about me.

The problem is that all the reserve slot systems built into sourcemod require at least one slot on the server to remain open at all times. This will turn our 24-person server into a 23-person server. We can't upgrade to a 25-person server because gameservers servers don't support more than 24 people.

(The system I'm thinking of is type 1, where anyone with reserved access who joins when the server is full boots the highest-ping non-reserved person.)

I am okay with a normal 23-person max (it goes up to 24 if the last person who joins is a reserved player, but blah blah details whatever) despite the slightly OCD twitch the odd (primary!) number gives me.

The really thorny issue I see is "Who gets reserved status?" There's no quick and easy way to determine who is a server regular. Anyone who takes the time to log on to GitP and post in this thread probably counts, but I bet there are others who are often on the server but don't come here. Thoughts?

A Second Server
We don't have the money. Not really. If we could tap the influx of pub players for $$$ we probably would, but I wouldn't bet on that happening - it's only regulars who care that the server is full because when pub players are faced with a full server they just go and pub elsewhere. Also, I'm not looking forward to administrating two servers.

I suggest going with reserved slots, and if regulars still can't log on because the server is full (with other regulars) we can look into getting a second server.

I'd prefer my previous dreamplugin where regulars/mods vote on who should get to stay on the server via a simple-ish rating system, but I suppose something like hours would be a good substitute.
