Re: GitP/ChHa Server Thread IV: For Science. You Monster.
I just banned STEAM_0:0:33319423 "The Cake" for gratuitous micspam after multiple warnings and a kick and also after the kick I gave him about four days ago for the same offense.
I kicked STEAM_0:0:9983327 "Doc Grotsnik", STEAM_0:1:777540 "Maxyo", and STEAM_0:0:25978 "PTV|leogeo2" for nonstop insults, sexism, and dickery. This is the second time I've had to kick Maxyo and leogeo for this kind of thing... Djinn, should this have been a ban?

Re: GitP/ChHa Server Thread IV: For Science. You Monster.
Ban "PTV|leogeo2". Both Fawkes and I heard him use a racial slur on the demo and he left before I could ban him. I could provide the exact slur if necessary. But there were so many people yelling but I'm 99.9% sure it was him.
For the others, I've heard them be ***** in the past a little bit but it's mainly been leogeo.Last edited by watsyurname529; 2010-08-03 at 11:12 PM.

Random thought, but Captain Skill is still the GitP Steam Group player of the week. Seeing as he's banned, I think we should change that.

Re: GitP/ChHa Server Thread IV: For Science. You Monster.
People seemed to like this better, but only marginally so - the way one might prefer to be stabbed than shot. Optimally, one isn't stabbed or shot. Optimally, one eats some cake! But there are times when cake is not available, and instead we are destroyed. This is the deep poetry of the universe. -- Tycho Brahe

Dis, please enlighten me why there are 3 mice scattered around your desk. Isn't one enough?
Also, lucky person with 2 screens mumblemumble.
Also also, the more I look at it the more I'm scared. You drink lemon-lime-strawberry softdrink yogurt?Last edited by Wandiya; 2010-08-04 at 04:48 AM.

Re: GitP/ChHa Server Thread IV: For Science. You Monster.
Mouse next to keyboard is for gaming comp, the one on the desk corner is wireless and for the htpc, and the other one is the one I'll sometimes use for my laptop.
Two screens is something I've had going for ages now. Handy for art, although I haven't really used it much in that capacity yet, but it'll start getting more use now I'm at uni.
And I drink lemon-lime solo and like yogurt, although normally passionfruit (:

After [duration of time], you totally have to make a montage of the accumulated images.
Maybe a month of daily pictures, or a year of weekly ones. You could call it "Evolution of Desk."Last edited by AlterForm; 2010-08-04 at 05:37 PM.

Re: GitP/ChHa Server Thread IV: For Science. You Monster.
I'd show you guys my desk but:
A. I dont have a camera and
B. I dont have a desk.
My comp is on my coffee table, next to my TV, and I sit on my futon and kill things from the comfort of my bed. My room is impressively tiny but comfortable. Oh and I have blacklight posters on my walls, with a cool blacklight to make them glow. I'd show those off, but I got a couple that would be considered "risque", nothing tawdry mind you, but nudity nonetheless.

So, Did anyone else hear about the unspeakable act that is going to be committed on august 31st? 8 people are going to destroy their golden wrenches for charity and valve is going to announce globally in TF2 when each one is destroyed.

Re: GitP/ChHa Server Thread IV: For Science. You Monster.
Due to requests, I am going to release the map privately for testing purposes.
There are some things you should note.
Skybox: Its not finished, And it looks funky, dont tell me about it.
Invisible walls: This map is filled with them, Most notably at the waters edge and the warehouse roofs.
Lightning: Look out into the ocean and you should see lightning strike from time to time. (Just dont admire it to much or you'll get sniped.
What I want tested: Balance: This basically says all, If both teams are in equal terms how fun the map will be? Are certain classes more advantageous that others? Are the health and ammo packs evenly placed, Should I add more or remove some?
Graphical: See a hole in the wall that shouldnt be there, Take a screenshot of it and post it here.
Note: This was the first map I pakrated, I added the models and particles and materials, But I think I may have missed some model textures. So if your missing those post a screenshot and I will update it soon with the texture in the bsp.
Download:http://www.mediafire.com/file/mnupeb...oth_Harbor.rar
Play it in singleplayer and notify me of anything missing.
Other note: Due to my worry of missing texture there are no cube maps in the map. Its easy to make them though.
Go to console and type the following
sv_cheats 1
mat_specular 0
buildcubemaps
Disconnect and change map
Then go back to harbor and voila you should have cubemapsLast edited by MamaLuigi; 2010-08-05 at 10:26 AM.

Re: GitP/ChHa Server Thread IV: For Science. You Monster.
Luigi, I'm happy you uploaded it. :D Also, I vote SHaFT being the test server since we can get all regulars on it and we won't have people testing a map on a server they'll never return to.
Also, I have a more recent picture of my setup.

Re: GitP/ChHa Server Thread IV: For Science. You Monster.
I was thinking of another map test night for ChHa next weekend, so if ML is okay with that we can test it in whatever state it's in then. (Note: Does not preclude other, earlier tests.)
A cubemap, to answer your question, is what governs the reflections you see in game - it handles reflections in the water's surface, in the demoman's bottle, in the sniper rifle's eyepiece, etc. Without a cubemap you see broken textures there. (Or perhaps nothing. I forget.)Last edited by potatocubed; 2010-08-05 at 11:48 AM.
I write a gaming blog. It also hosts my gaming downloads:
Fatescape - FATE-based D&D emulator, for when you want D&D flavour but not D&D complexity.
Exalted Mass Combat Rules - Because the ones in the core book suck.

Re: GitP/ChHa Server Thread IV: For Science. You Monster.
If I get a new GPU. I'm likely to hook up my second screen. I'm just wondering how well having two screens of different sizes hooked to the same GPU works.
