Lix Lorn and Strawberries IC

[Strawberries]

Kitra stops at the entrance of the cave, tilting her head sideway and sniffing the air. "Can you smell that?"

"...yes, I believe so..." he nods slowly.

Fiddler, what sort of smell is it?

Upon closer smelling, there are actually two smells, both of flowers. One smells incredibly sweet, coming from inside the cave. It almost seems to call out to the two, begging them to come closer. The second is coming from out in the desert, and smells completely normal for a desert flower.

[Strawberries]

"Hmm. Looks like the flower we want is indeed in this place. What do you say, let's go get it?" Kitra advances a couple of steps, then raises a hand to stop Laen from following her. "Let me just give a quick look around, okay, sweetie?" she says.

He nodded.
"Okay."

[The Dark Fiddler]

As Kitra steps into the cave, the smell only grows stronger. There is a faint sound of scraping deeper in the cave. It curves around to the right, going slightly downhill and taking a complete one-eighty turn.

[Strawberries]

Kitra nods to herself, before going quietly back to Laen. " Alright sweetie, I heard something further down there, but I couldn't see anything" she says, keeping her voice low. "Let's try to be quiet, alright?"

She enters the cave again, moving with as little noise she can manage, with only a quick look back to Laen to see if he is following. She tries to get as close to the scraping sound as she can without being seem, using the cave walls and rocks for cover if she can.

[The Dark Fiddler]

The smell only gets stronger as Kitra gets closer to the source, though the scraping slows down, nearly stopping. As she rounds the corner, hugging close to the wall, she sees a large bulbous plant sitting at the end, with two large tentacles raised in the air, ready to strike. It seems the plant already knows the two are there. The wall behind the plant is made of a dark black rock, likely the rock Garl warned about.

"Well, let's see how ar this thing can reach, okay?" Kitra bends down to pick up a loose rock from the cave floor, cautiously aiming it at a distance of about 10 foot from the plant and throwing it on the ground, to se the plant's reaction.

Normally you would but I did it for you.

As the rock flies towards the plant, a tentacle reaches out swiftly and knocks it out of the air, about five feet before it would have landed.

[Strawberries]

"There you have it, sweetie. The tentacles can strike that far" Kitra mumbles to the paladin. "What now?"

[Lix Lorn]

"Maybe I should use an arrow?" he suggests.

[Strawberries]

"There is a surface of exploding rock just behind it, honey." Kitra reminds him. Then she shrugs "But hey, if you think you can hit it, I'm not stopping you."

[Lix Lorn]

"A good point." he concedes. "Not worth the risk. Is the entire cave of this rock? Could I go to the side and attack from there; with normal rock at it's back?"

[Strawberries]

"Dunno. The cave is too narrow at the end, tho. That thing will hit you. Wait."

Fiddler, is all the wall at the end of the cace made from the black rock or are there "safe" spots?

[The Dark Fiddler]

The rock seems to continue as far up as the plant sits. In order to fire an arrow without the risk of hitting the explosive rock, one would have to get behind the plant.

[Lix Lorn]

"Hm. That won't work." he sighs.

[Strawberries]

"That it won't. Plan number two?"

[Lix Lorn]

"Indeed." he agreed. He paused. "What is plan B?"

[Strawberries]

"That's no fair, sweetie. I asked you first." She shrugs "We charge ahead into that thing and try to hit it? You should love this plan. Isn't it what your kind usually does?"

[Lix Lorn]

"I'm an elf and I carry a large bow." he said, smiling slightly. "Does it look like charging is my area of expertise?"

[Strawberries]

"Do learn, then. Very fast." She draws her rapier, advancing just out of the range of the tentacles.

[Lix Lorn]

He shakes his head in amusement, and draws his short sword.

[Strawberries]

Lix, you didn't say that Laen moved up with Kitra, but I thought it reasonable to assume. If I was wrong, then just pretend you're still where you were last time.

Also, I darkened the area where the explosive rock is.

The plant's tentacles draw back into a ready position, but with its two opponents out of reach, it can't currently do anything.

"Go, sweetie. I'm right behind you." Kitra says.

He nods, and charges the plant!

Laen charges at the plant, his sword slashing at the plant's bulb. It sinks a bit into the flesh of the plant, but not particularly deeply. The plant's tentacles whip and Laen, however, and hit him squarely on the side, dealing 6 damage.

((Next time put the charge bonus right into the roll, you would have missed if I hadn't noticed that note, which I almost didn't ))
