The Titans are coming back and have kidnapped Iris, forcing her to hold up the sky so Atlas is free to move about.

Also, the Olympians are fracturing due to Zeus attempting to kill a son of Hades. It's split into three factions; Zeus, Hades, and Poseidon. Poseidon and his faction are sick of Zeus' treatment of others and the way he rules. Zeus is interested in holding on and Hades needs help fighting off Hyperion's forces in the Underwold.

Also, there are relationships between campers, and several have had kids (as teenagers, too).

@Kerfluffle: Probably Zeus, due to Phobos' dad being Ares. I had a daughter of Phobos once, but she died.

WP had had that plan for like 2 months before Jason and Jeparo even decided to go on the quest... And the gods were already disputing. But Zeus attacking Jason probably escalated it.
