They let him go, but Vasquez activates her comm. "Carl, sorry, but you're on an extended mission now. Yes, same objective."

With a sigh, Carl acknowledges and follows Kore silently. As one of the group's Wraiths, he was used to things like this.

Well then, Kore is heading to Trog's for now.

I don't want to command. I'm just good at what I do and I want to keep doing it. The shooter relaxes as he figures out how to word this. My surviving family is all in HALO, but I wasn't even going to join until Tobias asked me to be a liaison with the Empire a few days ago. I just think I'd fit in with a highly trained and disciplined group of mortal operators better than I would trying to work with a bunch of lone wolf Godlings.

"Hm. Are you familiar with the Mortal Coil unit? It's an elite joint ISF-IA force meant to combat enemies the normal forces of each can't. While I doubt the commander would allow you as a full member, I believe I could set up a meeting in order to arrange something with them."

I have not heard about them, but I would like to at least meet with the commander.

"Excellent. You'll be escorted to the meeting shortly, after I've informed Mortal Coil's commander about our discussion. Goodbye." The holographic general flickers and fades.

Vasquez is informed, and tries to weasel out of what she considers "babysitting", sighs and gives up when she's given no choice. She heads to the meeting room as she grumbles.

Meeting Room

Where she waits for the man and whoever else to arrive.

The HALO representative then will be escorted to the meeting room by a pair of ISF troopers, of course.

The representative walks into the meeting room and offers Vasquez his hand while he sizes her up. Mortal Coil's commander, I presume? If she takes it, she'll find that his grip is firm and that his hand has a thick callus from years of diligent target practice. He is in peak physical condition, for a human at any rate, and his green eyes reveal a calculating coldness which almost contradicts his friendly smile. He is wearing black combat boots and a Kevlar vest over his civilian utilities. To sum up the description, his hair is a dark red color, with white tips.

Meeting Room

Vasquez doesn't take the hand and gives him a slightly cold look. She's actually restraining herself, but that's hard to tell. "Yes. Now, since you've apparently neglected to mention it before, who are you? Not who you're working for."

The man lets his hand drop. He comes to attention, but doesn't salute. My name is Theodore Goswell.

Meeting Room

Vasquez seems to give him a glare. "Don't salute me. You're not in my chain of command. It's been made perfectly clear to me despite my protests over a civilian working with us." Hey, at least she's honest. "Now, that was just your name, not who you are. I prefer details. If you're going to be working with my team, we will have to know you as a person, not as a sheet of paper."

I was not planning on it. He stares back at her for a second, then continues. I may be a civilian, but I am better trained than any conventional soldier and I have more experience than the majority of the special operators governments on my homeworld consider 'elite'. I work for my grandfather, who owns the multinational defense company Prometheus Securities. I am nominally assigned to either the Epimetheus or the Atlas branches, where I teach advanced techniques and protect Prometheus' facilities, respectively. In actuality, I am a member of the secret Menoetius branch which is the best counter-terror organization on my homeworld. We offer our services to governments in emergency situations, but will covertly carry out operations against terrorists anywhere we find them. I serve Menoetius in a sniper/observer role, and I am also a highly-trained explosives expert. I have been involved in over fifty combat operations where no civilians were killed, and nine where we could not save all of the hostages. He pauses again to catch his breath and to think of more details. My father is a half-ghost, but the only supernatural ability I inherited from him is very limited telekinesis. My mother was some sort of human hybrid, but I do not think I inherited any of her heightened senses or reflexes. The rest of my abilities and talents are the result of over a decade of intense training. I beg your pardon, ma'am, but I don't know what else to tell you.

"Why help us? Why not go back to your unit or start a new one here without our consent? There'd be less regulations I'd assume."

I like doing what I do. I like helping people and I like working with professionals. Most of my old unit was killed in a surprise ambush. I came to the Nexus trying to escape from the assassins who attacked my family at the same time. Theodore clearly doesn't want to talk about that. It takes years of training to get a mortal man up to special operator standards. I would work with HALO, but from what I have seen, they are all lone-wolf type Godlings, without the discipline I am used to.

The part about him being unwilling to talk about it is exactly why Vasquez asks the next question. "Who attacked your family and why? If you have enemies that might have followed you here, we need to know."

He grimaces, but knew it was coming. I don't know who, but since they attacked Prometheus, I'm guessing that they're a terrorist group with extraordinarily good intel. I was followed here by one assassin, but I dealt with her and now it's been over two months and nothing has happened.

"Dealt with as in wounded, or dealt with, as in killed?" She asks cautiously.

[FireFox]

She was not a usual assassin. She was tricked into thinking that I would destroy the world, but I proved that her handlers had lied to her. After interrogating her, I released her in a different universe. She is no longer a threat, and she doesn't know anything to tell her masters.

Vasquez frowns. "But that still doesn't mean they aren't out there. Now, I believe it's your turn to ask questions. However, some things will be classified from you, understand?"

Meanwhile, Eileen returns to ISF headquarters, and heads to make a report.
To whoever she's under the command of, since that was never really defined.

After a long, painful walk, Kore arrives at the gate. He still does not look like he's in good condition by any means, but he's not bleeding out in the street any more.

"I've got an appointment." he says weakly.

Gate

One of the guards nods and they open the gate. "Interview room. They're already waiting."

Kore nods and heads inside. Once he's in he looks around to see who else is there.

Interrogation Room

"So, why do you think you're here?" Vasquez asks. There's one other person, and while he won't be able to be sure, it looks to be the one who told him to come here.

[Gullara]

"I hope you don't mind if I sit down." Kore says. He sits down regardless.

He shakes his head, "I don't know. Maybe you think that had something to with you guys?"

Interrogation Room

Vasquez doesn't stop him from sitting down, and raises her eyebrow. "Did what have to do with us?"

[Gullara]

[Interrogation Room]

"Okay fine. That, as in when those bastards nearly killed me." Kore says. His voice raises a bit at the end, but he winces in pain afterward.
