Congratulations. I've tried to do that to a while ago, but I gave up. I've had random-ed to often, so I kept running into comics I had already read.

Wait a minute, a straw man is when you attack a position your opponent doesn't have. Can you point out to me which comics you think are straw men and aren't being deliberately played up for humor/used as serious arguments?

Ditto. It's so over the top that it's extremely amusing for me.

It's an old one, you can get that in a lot of places, I think.

It's unbelievable that he can come up with quality EVERY day! That is really impressive. I mean there are better webcomics for me out there like xkcd but the quantity of good stuff in that archive is amazing.

    How does he do it?

I found this a few months back & have kicked myself that I did not find it years before. Some comics are not as funny as others, but then there are some that have me on the edge of tears.

This is one of them, and I am not sure if this makes me a bad person that I find this as funny as I do

He has a steady diet of children's tears, nudity, pure evil milked from Satan, nudity, a crack research team (as in, a steady diet of them), nudity, nudity and nudity.

    Did I mention nudity?
    I use black for sarcasm.

I suppose the thread is a tad old but I couldn't find a newer one with more than 3 posts. But I guess if you brush the dust off it is still a good vintage thread!

About todays comic. https://www.smbc-comics.com/comic/intelligence-2 I am all for AI rights once we reach the point where that becomes relevant but only getting more capabilities doesn't bring us there. Even if we reach a general AI if the AI gets nothing from existing and doesn't care whether it exists or not it doesn't really matter whether you turn it off, you aren't deriving it of anything it never mattered to the AI whether it existed it just did its job because that is what it does.

Though that leads to some other question. 1) There are different ways a intelligence could value its survival or existing. For us it is emotion based and you might probably say that if staying alive is just a target objective to optimize for that it doesn't count as caring about it. But there are many variants for that and many were drawing a line might be problematic.
    2) Whether creating an intellingent "species"/kind of being that has no goals beside following your orders has problems because designing a human variant like that would be really creepy. 3) hmm no I will leave it at 2

Sheriff: Don't thread necro here. Find or start an appropriately current thread. See the Forum Rules for details.
