Re: [Steam] Thread XVI: The biggest in-joke in gaming
Teach me, oh great ones. The spy is my favorite class, though my best class is actually the medic (I'm a much better medic than spy).

Re: [Steam] Thread XVI: The biggest in-joke in gaming
Technically the medal are awared as follows:
The Best of the Rest (ie: Tourney Winners) = First Place Medals
Second Rating (ie: Beaten by #1 team) = Runner Up Medals
Third Rock (ie: beaten by #1&2, won against #4) = Third Place Medals
The Groundlings/Flock of Peasants (disqualified elsewhere in tournament, participated in at least two matches): = Participation Medals.

Re: [Steam] Thread XVI: The biggest in-joke in gaming
Eh, I had more luck than anything, their team didn't check their backs too often, I often flopped many things (at one point I missed a Sapper placement on the Sentry and went on to tackle the Medic with my Revolver with predictable results ), but nonetheless, everything was great fun and we all played a great game. NG played honorably and gracefully, too!

Re: [Steam] Thread XVI: The biggest in-joke in gaming
I have to say I generally agree. Also the amount of pyros generally affects usefulness.
Nucleus, however, is awesome for a dead ringer spy. The only times I've ever performed decently as a spy has been on nucleus, and I've done it two or three times, so I don't think it's been a fluke, but I could be wrong.

Re: [Steam] Thread XVI: The biggest in-joke in gaming
Presumably, if we fail completely at this stage, losing two out of three matches, then we get disqualified as a team, and are ineligible to receive any other Badge than the Participant Badge. End of story.
I believe all team members receive Badges once the team meet the necessary requirements at the distribution date for awards, regardless of personal participation, although it is good manners to attend as many matches as possible.
Presumably, Valve are working out how to get everybody's Badges given out in close succession and are using this as an excuse to not release the Polycount Pack, till after the tourney to prevent mid-tourney imbalances/wacky hijinks.Last edited by Byrnbot08; 2010-09-26 at 05:03 PM.

I really wish you could have these things, where, you know, I could actually play. That is to say- not in the middle of the EST workday. Some of us have jobs. I'm a little mad.

I feel so damn left out. Still, good for you. Is there a demo somewhere? I'd be interesting in
passing judgment on my replacementseeing what the game was like.

Re: [Steam] Thread XVI: The biggest in-joke in gaming
Excellent job, Yellow!
If you are allowed mercs, I'm definitely up for in case of emergencies.
I was thinking it would be nice to have a big, detailed, constantly-updated hub of ChHa Highlander shenanigans. Mayhap I should make a thread to that purpose? Would have the teams, subs, mercs, scheduled matches, and records of wins and losses. Just a singular place you could check every once in a while to see how it's going for all the teams.

Good job yellow!
You guys did great, and I really love the comment that the opposing team left. It really shows what kind of effect ChHa regs can have on people. Your politeness makes others polite. You're all true polite snipers.

Re: [Steam] Thread XVI: The biggest in-joke in gaming
Using it, I pushed the cart alone for a while, so I guess it helped us make some distance, but after one death I went back to Invisibility Watch to stall the Engineers and work behind enemy lines.
Not that great of a Dead Ringer Spy, which is something I should maybe brush up on.
If I'm allowed to post a demo of that game, I shall, but don't expect that much, it's really not that awesome.

You mean this one?
I write a gaming blog. It also hosts my gaming downloads:
Fatescape - FATE-based D&D emulator, for when you want D&D flavour but not D&D complexity.
Exalted Mass Combat Rules - Because the ones in the core book suck.

Re: [Steam] Thread XVI: The biggest in-joke in gaming
There can't be really any harm done with that, so here you go. But be very tolerant for mistakes and desperate moves resulted from trying to salvage a blunder (like running out of cloak too early). I'm not OMFGNinja; I don't think I ever have done a stairstab right during my whole playtime of Spy, which is rather laughable when I think about it, but then again, there never really was a situation where three safe revolver shots wouldn't be preferrable. Also, the action in the Dustbowl game doesn't start until 5 minutes into the demo (during the nervous setup time, I just ran around Dustbowl attempting to taunt kill people) while in the Upward game, you have to wait for the action until the 8th minute mark.
Huh, just realized we had no less than 5 replacements for our team. Uhh...

Re: [Steam] Thread XVI: The biggest in-joke in gaming
Well, I just figured someone outside of the whole thing would make for a good third-party observer-type reporter. I mean, the stresses of leading a team would simply be compounded by the addition of having to follow along with everyone else's team, right? But, it's up to you, of course.

Re: [Steam] Thread XVI: The biggest in-joke in gaming
4 replacements, actually. Fawkes changed from Soldier to Sniper, hence why he's both down on the list I sent out as a replacement and as someone being replaced.
But point taken. Gonna try my best to ensure that doesn't happen again.SpoilerOn behalf of YoSaffBridge, a collected gent who also hails from the UK, I would like to apologize for the time (times?) he told your lovely children that they were possessed by El Diablo. He has his own issues to work out, and occasionally suffers from the honest delusion that small children are demons. Plus, he’s a bastard. I guess that’s not really an excuse, but I did say these would be sincere.

Re: [Steam] Thread XVI: The biggest in-joke in gaming
Hush you.
Irish eyes are perfectly fine.
We have to enjoy what we have, seeing as we're poor.
In fact they're known to have special functionality.
D'you know of any other nationality whose eyes can smile?
Y'see we need things to multitask. As we can't afford both a mouth and eyes.
Because we're poor obviously.
