Re: [Steam] Thread XVI: The biggest in-joke in gaming
Jibar is an awesome guy and I owe him.
SpoilerOn behalf of YoSaffBridge, a collected gent who also hails from the UK, I would like to apologize for the time (times?) he told your lovely children that they were possessed by El Diablo. He has his own issues to work out, and occasionally suffers from the honest delusion that small children are demons. Plus, he’s a bastard. I guess that’s not really an excuse, but I did say these would be sincere.

Re: [Steam] Thread XVI: The biggest in-joke in gaming
I edited my post. And djinn, you shouldn't be too upset. I didn't just yell heavy is op after being dominated by one or some such as would be usual for those who voice opposition to the heavy. I went through and played it in several situations. I started off just using the minigun with a medic at my back. Spy eventually got me. The ease with with I could kill my enemies was a little unsettling. And the fact that the pyro has about a zero percent chance of winning is a bit absurd. It does 500dps at close range. It's got a spread a bit like a shotgun, meaning even if your aim isn't great you'll still do tons of damage. On Cp maps, heavy is fine, ctf, fine. It's when you get to payload that I begin to get upset. But anyways, djinn, I have my complaints based upon playing against the class AND FROM HAVING PLAYED IT. I fail to see a problem here. I removed the comment in my previous post, so judge it as if that one sentence never occurred. And djinn, I would love to hear your reasonings, you do have more experience with the class. (for my purposes, in two separate occaisions I played heavy for about 3 hours totalled).

Re: [Steam] Thread XVI: The biggest in-joke in gaming
It for the same reason that a good sniper on a wide-open map seems OP, or a well-placed Engie nest can seem OP, or how Demomen and Soldiers are OP on spam-filled maps. If you take the class that is designed to be an immovable barricade and bullet-distributor, and stick him next to what is, basically, a moving ammo depot and mini-medic, then...well...what do you expect?
This is also the reason most Payload maps have long sight-lines for snipers to pick off the Heavy's on the cart, or places for spies to sneak up/demomen to launch stickies from. If you let a Heavy stand next to a cart, yes, he's a force to be reckoned with. Home field advantage and all.
And djinn, I would love to hear your reasonings, you do have more experience with the class. (for my purposes, in two separate occaisions I played heavy for about 3 hours totalled).
Ingredients
2oz Djinn
5oz Water
1 Lime Wedge
Instructions
Pour Djinn and tonic water into a glass filled with ice cubes. Stir well. Garnish with lime wedge. Serve.

Re: [Steam] Thread XVI: The biggest in-joke in gaming
Looking up the cool new soldiers hat I saw this morning, if only tf2wiki would stop sucking bollock burgers and actually freaking work it'd be so much easier. Or maybe if I stopped typing in the wrong address or something....is tf2wiki still on tf2wiki.com or is it wiki.teamfortress.com? Anyways, here's a pic of a soldier hat I would totally buy:
Dr's Dapper Topper.
I saw it in action this morning and oh my god is it awesome.

Re: [Steam] Thread XVI: The biggest in-joke in gaming
Quick note. I will say this now, as I have no interest in renaming any weapon other than the milk.
When I get a Mad Milk and a rename tag, I shall thusly call my Mad Milk by a new name. A better name...Mega Milk.

I don't know the Mega Milk reference, but I'd be amused if someone tags it "Lon Lon Milk".

Well that one is obvious, however, I want to rename my fish to some sort of lewd joke pertaining to how it smells.

Re: [Steam] Thread XVI: The biggest in-joke in gaming
There is only one event that will make me more gruntled about this whole update.
If I find a nametag and re-name Bonk! to Powerthirst, I will be happy. Otherwise I'm in pretty much the same boat as Dogmantra.
I hate, with a passion, Micro-Transactions. Valve were damn stupid to fall into this same pit-trap with the other big companies.

Re: [Steam] Thread XVI: The biggest in-joke in gaming
KENYANS!
Anyway, I'd be complaining about the micro-transactions too if it weren't for three small things.
First, all the items can still be found in-game. I make it a habit not to complain about micro-transactions like this if there is a free way to get things related to it anyway.
Second, the purchased items can't be traded/crafted. So sure you can buy all the items you want but you can't really spread them around.
Third, and most importantly, people who make the items will make money off of it. For all intents and purposes Valve has just created a Steam for modellers, and I think that's pretty cool.

I caved and BOUGHT a nametag to re-name the Holy Mackerel "The Salmon of Doubt" to further honour Douglas Adams in a way other than it being a level 42 item.

Re: [Steam] Thread XVI: The biggest in-joke in gaming
This actually bugs me. I want to buy able to buy my friends hats! Also, my purchase gave me a couple "bonus items" that are just duplicates of items I already have. Now I'm saddled with them. Sure, I crafted away my original Skullcutter, but I can't craft either of my E'trangers.
Anyway, for those of you curious about hat colors, the steam forums are compiling a database.

Re: [Steam] Thread XVI: The biggest in-joke in gaming
Okay, so The Sacrifice is barreling down upon us with great justice, and like all other L4D updates I'd like to go in knowing who my teammates will be.
As such, it's a sad truth that Tuesdays are when my gaming group gets together. This means that on the fifth, I'll be unable to play until 7:00-7:30 EST. So I am asking for a few brave, preferably talkative, souls who are willing to wait out the sacrifice to Kill Bill together with me.
Now, any takers?
