Re: Deathwatch - A Prize Most Valuable (IC)
Tristan, Kaeste, Svari and Onissius
SpoilerSvari sweeps his Chainsword across the edges of the Basilisk, but the Heretics stay back from his biting blade and Svari is rewarded with nothing but sparks from the hull of the Basilisk.
The Heretics then pile onto the Basilisk again to attack Svari and Onissius in their frenzied state.

Re: Deathwatch - A Prize Most Valuable (IC)
Tristan, Kaeste, Svari and Onissius
Spoiler(Forgot to edit my notes that the Heretic Horde around you is broken and at Mag 9. No damage dealt though, simply editing my last post to reflect increased WS and such)
Onissius' Force Blade finally meets Heretical flesh and it cuts through their bodies with a scream of Psychic force. The Psy-Charred remains of those Heretics tumble off the Basilisk; a grim reminder to the other Heretics of the fate that awaits them at Onissius' hand. They look less than eager to surrender in their frenzied state, however.

Alyxander swiftly bears down on the North-West Basilisk, his resolve firm, he aims his vehicle almost directly at the enemy Basilisk. Reaching for his grenade belt he pulls out a Krak grenade. When the two tanks are at their closest point he flings it towards the other vehicle's spare shell storage section.

Re: Deathwatch - A Prize Most Valuable (IC)
Alyxander, Azirel and Charon
SpoilerAs Alyxander draws near, the Militia manning the Basilisk open fire with small arms. Bullets harmlessly ping off the hull around Alyxander and he pops the hatch to the driver's cab and tosses a Krak Grenade out of the top. It bounces once on the Enemy held Basilisk before detonating in a small explosion which is quickly followed by a huge explosion as the Basilisk's shells explode. Alyxander guns his Basilisk's engines to escape the blast and makes it out of the blast radius just in time.
(Alyxander can make a Sight Awareness Test to spot something)
The Heretics continue their chase towards Alyxander, their minds lacking any sense of survival at this point.
(Run 18m toward Alyxander. Since he is on the move at high speed, actual distancing doesn't matter, but he is the closest target for them.)
Meanwhile, the Heretics around Azirel continue to harmless glance their blades off of Azirel's armor.
It is Azirel's Turn to Act.
A giant explosion occurs to the North-West as Alyxander destroys the Basilisk in that direction. Yet another cheer is heard from the defenders on the walls of the Fortress.

Re: Deathwatch - A Prize Most Valuable (IC)
Alyxander, Azirel and Charon
SpoilerAs Alyxander veers away from the exploding Basilisk, he notices a large crater to the North of the Fortress, surrounded by large metal fragments and a rather large number of Heretic and Militia corpses. He also notices a massive solid armoured gate briefly and makes out rather large dents and marks in it on the North face of the Fortress.
The gate is surrounded by dozens of scattered sandbags, wreckage and Imperial equipment. A preliminary barricade against this Chaos assault most likely. Overwhelmed by the Enemy artillery it seems, although the wreckage appears to have held well against the onslaught and it seems as though the Enemy were in the process of removing it to gain entry until you arrived.
The only other Basilisk in sight is the one towards the North-East of the Fortress.
Meanwhile, Azirel swipes wildy to begin with and Heretics easily step out of his bold movements. He then refines his attack into a quick series of thrusts. This technique definately yields more pleasing results for the raging Blood Angel as his Chainsword skewers several Heretics. By the time he kicks their Heretical corpses from his Chainsword's grasp, only a small handful of Heretics are left. They do not seem to want to give up though, to their credit.
(4 Mag Damage. Horde is down to 1 Mag)
(That's right, last turn they are in Short Range, but you keep forgetting they are running, so it's a -20 BS penalty. Even so, that's 5 hits for 11 Mag.)
Charon continues firing on the Heretics chasing Alyxander, shell casings piling up at his feet. Half of his shells slam home and send the vile servants of Chaos sprawling broken and bloody across the plains.
(11 Mag Damage. Horde is at 6 Mag)
It is Alyxander's Turn to Act.
Tristan, Kaeste, Svari and Onissius
SpoilerSvari cuts down several of the Heretics with a couple of well placed sweeps and strikes which send the Heretics toppling off the Basilisk, limbless and lifeless, to stain the plains beneath the two Basilisks red with blood.
(4 Mag Damage, Horde is at 4 Mag)
The Heretics, undaunted by their horrendous casualties, stab and slash at Onissius and Svari. Onissius remains an iron bastion of armour; untouched by their foul blades. Svari's head however, remains an open gate in an otherwise equally well fortified iron bastion or armour.
(Heretics can only possibly harm Svari through his head. WS = 35 + 10 (Frenzy) = 45 vs (1d100)[89]. Damage is (1d10+4)[7].)
Svari easily manages to avoid the frenzied swipes of the Enemy.

Re: Deathwatch - A Prize Most Valuable (IC)
(You misunderstand me, you've just been running over the forces from the Northern part of the assault, so there's no-one left actually dismantling the wreckage/barricade . All I meant to say was that the wreckage around the front of the gate looks to have been partially cleared, indicating that the Heretics/Militia were removing it to gain access to the gate until your team arrived and began killing off elements of the East, South and West assault.)

Re: Deathwatch - A Prize Most Valuable (IC)
Alyxander, Azirel and Charon
SpoilerAlyxander roars towards the Basilisk to the North-East and makes it most of the way across the North plains. (Not quite there yet, another round of driving)
The Heretics on the open plains, with no chance of catching up to Alyxander now, decide to turn around and head towards the Astartes Warrior pumping shells into their ranks.
(With Alyxander gone, closest target is Charon. Heretics run 18m towards him and are therefore still in Short Range for him. To be honest, with such a low Mag, giving a distance at this point would be pointless since I expect they will be dead very shortly.)
The small handful of Heretics still around Azirel continue to slash and stab at him to no effect.
It is Azirel's Turn to Act.

Re: Deathwatch - A Prize Most Valuable (IC)
Alyxander, Azirel and Charon
SpoilerAzirel's thundering and zealous speech is equalled only by his thunderous and zealous take down of the remaining Heretics, who he brutally rips apart with his Chainsword.
A strange calm seems to fall upon Azirel. Dozens upon dozens of the Emperor's enemies lay dead at his feet by his hand. His armour is stained not only with the blood of his enemies, but also with a small amount of his own. He lets his Chainsword rest at his side for a moment and looks to the sky in a moment of release. For a fleeting moment, he is an iron statue of streaming blood, surrounded by the corpses of many. It is a scene many Ecclesiarchical buildings would love to depict on their coveted walls. Then the calm breaks and Azirel resumes motion. There was still work to be done!
(Horde is destroyed. Since the second group of Heretics are in sight, Azirel must pass a Willpower Test or move to engage them in melee also.)

Azirel and Charon - Alyxander's driven off from sight
SpoilerCharon's burst mostly misses due to the small, moving target of the dwindling Heretic Horde, but the bullets that do connect decimate the remaining Heretics completely.
