Hm, Daisuke can't at the moment, but perhaps Alysha could do that, as she isn't in the immediate battle. You'd have to ask her, though.

I feel that even for a localized terrorist attack the number of assailants is a little on the low side. Seriously, it's like ten people versus something in the ballpark of 5000 Shinigami, probably more?

However, I do remind you that four mortals coupled with a handful of insiders caused comparable chaos in Canon.

But really, the overall nature of this attack is akin to that of a single school shooting - it's tragic, it's outrageous, it shouldn't have happened, it'll be all over the news and everyone will swear it'll never happen again - but in the end, most people were never threatened by it, and were not personally touched by it.

This really is more a prologue to future events than stand-alone plot. However, we all know terrorist attacks with no real military signifigance can have drastic global repercussions; that's what this plot is about.

But yes, this is setup for the Wall. Combined with other recent things, it's supposed to shake Seireitei's leadership out of their comfort zones enough for such a drastic maneuver to occur. Isn't that what I said?

Personally, I think that with the Ichigo and co. invading the Seireitei plot, it was more than they were all apparently capable of tearing through seated officers like rice paper, which is currently something that thankfully that these intruders can't do. After all, the only seated officers they had any trouble with were Ikkaku (who got Bankai later) and Yumichika (who beat down Shuhei later).

It's more like the seated officers were ricepaper - in canon, they were near useless outside Yumichika, Ikkaku and Hanataro, and I'm not sure about Hanataro...

They were in fact. Also, they were almost universally jerks, except for the named characters. It was as if all background Shinigami were stuck-up A-holes who wouldn't listen to anyone but themselves. What was up with that?

Also, I'm thinking of having Shishimaru (the 3rd divisioner Daisuke sent to look for Nasumi) find Nasumi soon. Are you cool with that, Frozen?

EDIT: Michiko and her squad are in the Rukongai now. Seiko and Karite can get to Genoveva when you feel is appropriate. I'm waiting for another round from Callos and KD before making Michiko act.

By the way, in reference to the "The Shinigami were jerks in the Sereitei Invasion arc," I think they were kinda just military. They were told intruders had entered, and it was their job to expel them. The only people that were nice to the Ryoka at any point were people that knew that Rukia's actions, while illegal, were not deserving of punishment by death. Well, and Kenpachi. Most random people probably were not aware of the reason the intruders were there, nor were they aware of exactly what Rukia had done.

On Yama: Remember, Ichigo is more or less a vigilante, with his own sense of justice. He does not believe that the law is what is right, he believes that right is right whether the law supports it or not. Yamamoto, meanwhile, follows the law to a T, and if something goes against the law, Yamamoto will act in terms of the law, rather than in terms of something good. And I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure almost every military organization ever operates in a manner similar to that.

The way Yamamoto is portrayed in the story is as that of an evil, stubborn man. But remember, we are watching the story from the point-of-view of Ichigo.

I know what the intention was. The Execution Squad isn't going to keep going w/o their CO with them, and it's sort of silly to say that they wouldn't notice.

Just have Soushi kill them all. It's not like he wouldn't anyways, and they're not that much better than random nameless shinigami. I'm not sure any of them have Shikai to begin with.

I didn't actually mean Yama himself, I was more referring to the shinigami in general, particularly the unnamed ones, who were depicted as incompetent boobs who barely knew which side of their sword was the business end. That might be a little harsh, but the incident with the 7th division 4th seat in canon who, when he was faced with Uryu who was just curbstomping him, went for the incapacitated and helpless Orihime to use as a hostage. Honor? Among the rank Shinigami? Why, they have no such thing!

I just found that an odd choice, that to justify Ichigo's actions in the Seireitei they had to vilify all the unimportant Shinigami.
