Wood-Archer finally gets to the room and instantly slows as he feels the energy. He points to his companions, those who are 'chosen' after he looks at the strange painting. "This hasn't happened. It has yet to. This is a 'prophecy-painting.' Seers move their hands of their own accord while in a trance, and what they end up with is a glimpse of the future."

The smallest amongst them, Susi takes a few moments to absorb the ambience of the room. That done, she looks carefully at the 10 figures with animal shadows and reaches out her hand to the figure with the shadow of a fox.

The scene that she examines next is the one of tribal warriors crossing a mountain range. Based on her own limited knowledge of geography, Susi tries to determine any identifying features of the mountain range and the pass they presumably used.

In any case it doesn't tell us what the darkness is nor what to do against it. The tribes then chose to flee rather than fight, so they must have felt helpless against it.
However if we cross the mountains we might find remnants of the Bear clan. Maybe they still remember the old stories.

The white haired whelp and Keran look disappointed for a moment, but then smile and accept, smiling: "We will protect these caves and their secrets with our lives. Go on, find a way to turn back the iceman threat."

    Sutyi

Sutyi is obviously an owl triber, with grey feathers in her hair and fixed to her clothing. Her movements are precise and quick, her eyes always on alert. She smiles at you and says: "Let's get this party started, then!"

You leave the caves behind, heading more or less east. Sutyi seems to know the terrain well and you avoid any more contact with icemen. You see a few smaller parties roaming around and narrowly avoid a much larger band heading south.

After about a week's travel the mountains ahead of you are close enough to see individual peaks. You seem to be heading at a gap between 2 giants. One night, you make camp in a narrow ravine that cuts across your way, about 2 days from the mountains. The night is especially dark, with clouds covering the moon and no stars out.

It looks perfectly natural to you. The ravine is about 2 meters wide and has very steep sides that end about 4 meters above you. Posting a sentry up there should solve your security problems nicely. There is fresh water a fer meters down, where a cave is filled with water.

Uh, sure. We're five now, so I guess we'll have three watches and one has to take a lone watch. Probably the last one since it's shortest. So we'll take first or second.

You organize the watches, with Wood Archer and Sutyi taking the first, Danesh and Eshalyn the second while Tarha shares the last watch with Susi and Macko.

You settle down to sleep and after an exhausting day it comes quickly to those not on watch.

First watch is free of anything special, but later, about 2 hours after midnight, Danesh and Eshalyn feel something strange, as if a presence had somehow found their minds. It almost feels like someone was carefully, lightly caressing your heads, just deeper down. It comes and goes quickly and is over before you can react to it.

    What do you do?

There are 3 of them and they look like a mixture between a wolf and a scorpion, with long, powerful legs and a chitin carpace to protect them. Their tail ends in a stinger that is propably poisonous, but moves more like the tail of a wolf.
