I didn't just put a Master Chief clone in NO...

ThirdEmpowerer: That is a good idea you have, but I think the character should use it on a larger scale, not just on poor buissnessmen.

I suppose. I just like the idea of someone who can make unbreakable oaths. I don't see why people would be more willing to sign a contract enforced with death than with being slain magicly though.

Cause with the first one there's always a way out, even if it's just running and hiding underground. There's always hope of escape.
The second option is just dumb to sign and I can only see extremely desperate people... not doing it and going to rob a bank instead, like Happy said.

That said, I'll be kind of disappointed if the leadership in Riverside doesn't get overthrown and new crime lords come in every 3-4 months.

Oh, missed Nite's post. Yeah, I'd like to actually run part of the city, as it sounds fun. And I suppose you do have a good point, such a character is a bit too powerful to be running a loan-sharking racket.

Well actually it isn't really enforced by death in a sense. With regular loan sharks the borrower might think they have a chance to get out of it. With your character that chance is removed, along with your business.

Being able to bind people to unbreakable contracts doesn't give you the power to give away other people's property.

And yes. I don't remember who played them, but at one point he tries to climb through the vents of an air ship. Or at least expressed the intent to do so before DC pointed out that nobody made air vents that would hold a guy in power armor.

there have been other Master Chief clones, or at least SPARTAN IIs, longe before there was Inside or Acro. I ought to know, I used one of them for a time. It's a bit of an old idea.

They have. They were present for a plot the aforementioned character of mine went through. Not here anymore, though, and this was a long time ago. Couple years at least.

That stinks. Perhaps I could make a plot involving The Flood, my SPARTAN character, Grunts, and a few Elites. And it would have an awesome space battle. Anyone interested?

Not me, I'm afraid. Not enough time to dedicate to freeform anymore.

And one last remark on things being done before... Well... You know what they say, right? Nothing new under the sun and all that. At least try and put an interesting spin on the character. Something to set them apart from all the other SPARTAN clones that came before.

He's a coward. That's Spartan-255's shtick. While other SPARTANs would charge in, laser guns blasting, he'd be the one to be running away.
Even if his enemy would be one Grunt, he'd be yelling that he surrenders, and trying to run as far as he can.

which doesn't make sense for a SPARTAN. They were chosen specifically, and cowardice was not a trait that would have been picked. The ability to be sneaky, on the other hand...

*shrug* Just think about it. Make him a person. John was a bit of a blank slate, especially in the games, and for a reason. But I won't go into that.

Being a coward wouldn't be good for a military supersoldier. But that doesn't mean you need to scrap the concept entirely. Make him a sniper, or something like that. He still doesn't go charging in, but now it's because he's happily taking obstacles out from a safe distance. Makes more sense, you know?

That's kind of what I was thining. He hates being in the front lines and attacked, so he prefers to stealthily attack guys from the distance. That's why he was chosen for the program, because he's a great sniper. He's one of the few SPARTANs with a personality. He's sarcastic, and likes to point out the flaws of his enemy. When he knows the odds are bad for him, he runs. He's as normal a person as a SPARTAN could be

Depends on the character... for some, it would be a plot opportunity. For others, it wouldn't really work.

    Merlin's Pokémon?

And probably not. They'll probably just end up RPing with Decker and Kal a lot. And a bunch of other demon/devil PCs.

That's a good start, at least. Though you also have to remember that the people picked for the program (SPARTAN IIs, anyways) were kids. Like, 6 years old kids. He wouldn't have had much opportunity to showcase his skills as a sniper, except maybe with a slingshot.

I don't mean to say 'don't play this character'. I'm aiming more for 'think why this character would logically be this way.'

Yeah, I was kind of thinking of tiered leadership. Or at least somewhat tiered.

There would probably be the 'normal' human gangs with there leaders and the one 'big boss' guy. You know the one you never actually see because he has to deal with the other factions+SAINT. The humans would probably be the ones dealing with the mundane things everyone needs plus the 'legitimate' businesses. They would probably have some sort of store in Inside as a front and an actual business.

Then you have the Vampires and other night creatures(werewolfs, shadowmages, etc.) and thriving slave trade. Vampires need more than just what they get from donations. They would probably have a mayor or king for there territory and they would be the ones offering sanctuary and do various other things.

Then the third faction of something... still not sure exactly what...
