Default How to do a lets play, picture style.

So, I was thinking about doing a lets play of starwars jedi academy, you guessed it me playing through the challenge I posted earlier.

So having never done this before what will I need? Aside from amusing banter.

Print Screen and Paint can work, or something like FRAPS or Camtasia can work if you're not paitent.

However, most of the best LPers are part of Something Awful. gwar3k1's guide could be of use.

I only have used Waffleimages, and LPix myself. I'm not sure if LPix is SA exclusive, but Waffleimages is.. However, to borrow from the Tech Support Fort of the SA LP subforum, here's what they have to say about alternitave hosts:

    Show

    LPix
    Pros:
*LP exclusive image host run by baldurk. Give the man a hi5 if you see him.
*Lets you sort images into separate galleries.
    *Has a Rightload plug-in.
    You'll need Microsoft C++ 2010 Redistributable (x86) (x64) for the newest version.
Make sure to insert your LPix username and password in the plug-in options or it won't work.
    *Powered by baldurk's pro voice.

    Cons:
*2MB max file size upload limit.
*Makes every other image host look like a busta.

    Waffleimages
    Pros:
*SA exclusive image host. Runs off bandwidth donations from SA members.
    *Has a Rightload plug-in.

    Cons:
*Tends to crap out near the end of the month. (Possibly LP's fault entirely)
*Images may be removed if they haven't been viewed for a while.

    Imgur
    Pros:
*Supports a lot of different image types.
    *Has a Rightload plug-in.

    Cons:
*10MB max non-animated, 2MB animated file size upload limit.
*If non-animated image is over 1MB then it will automatically be compressed or resized to 1MB.
*Images may be removed if they don't get at least 1 view every 3 months.

    Imagevenue
    Pros:
    *Unlimited storage hosting period.
    *Unlimited bandwidth.
    *Has a Rightload plug-in.

    Cons:
    *Only accepts JPGs/JPEGs.
*3MB max file size upload limit.

    TinyPic
    Pros:
    *Seemingly unlimited upload/hosting period/bandwidth.

    Cons:
*Requires spam protection every time you upload an image.
*No Rightload plug-in, no longer works due to spam protection.

    iForce
    Pros:
    *Seemingly unlimited hosting period/bandwidth.

    Cons:
*5MB max file size upload limit.
    *No Rightload plug-in. (Yet)

    ImageSocket
    Pros:
    *Can batch upload.
    *Seemingly unlimited upload/hosting period/bandwidth.

    Cons:
    *No Rightload plug-in. (Yet)

    PaintedOver
    Pros:
*No plans to delete images that have not been accessed.
    *Has a FireFox extension.

    Cons:
    *1.5MB file size upload limit.
*Only supports JPG, GIF, and PNG. (Do you really need anything else though?)
    *No Rightload plug-in. (Yet)

Photobucket sucks, and I have no idea about Imageshack.
(Almost all credit for this advice to Meat and Null Set of Something Awful, along with anyone else who helped out with the post.)

I'm going to counter this by saying I never had a problem with Photobucket personally. The mass upload feature is very useful, and it gives an easy way to grab the forum-ready code for a large group of pictures at once (very good if your updates have a lot of pictures, merely helpful otherwise). Some people run out of bandwidth, but that depends largely on how popular your LP (and whatever else you use your account for) is. I never came close to running out, and I have my avatar on my account, for example. I'm not gonna say it's the best or anything, but personal experiences find it far from sucking.
It's been a bit, GitP. If you're reading this, you're either digging through old stuff, or I've posted for the first time in forever.

If you want to stay in touch, reach out to me on twitter (same username).

The best answer is always to ask your DM.
Unless you're the DM, in which case you should talk to your players.
