Re: [Nexus] Nexus OOC VIII: Portable Atrocities
Talking sense. Pwah. This is like people arguing that the Horde and Alliance of WoW should find peace. It defeats the entire purpose! They'd call it TalkCraft then! Conflict is what RP, nay LIFE itself is fueled by.
Vampires are scary undead predators, totally reasonable to destroy them for the very sake of what they are. If a cougar was a sentient man-killer it still would needs die.
Now that said, Ory is unlikely to start on a Vamp destroying rampage or even necessarily agree with me, but a great conflict over Vampires and there existence in the Nexus is great story telling.
Also, Keveak, wanna move our conversation in Trog's forward now?

Re: [Nexus] Nexus OOC VIII: Portable Atrocities
Except that humans can be scary man killers as well.
And vampires can be pacifist florists.
The problem is that people in the Nexus are being discriminative against all vampires because some are evil but lets anything else live no matter how many of it's kind are evil.
And a sentient cougar would be awesome
Even greater if we have both good and evil on both sides
Humans who want to kill all vampires and vice versa is fun and all but even more so when there are humans and vampires that don't, makes for great drama.
Way ahead of ya.Treasured Quotes

Re: [Nexus] Nexus OOC VIII: Portable Atrocities
International Baccalaureate.
It's a 2-year Diploma/Course/Certification thingy founded in Switzerland that's roughly equivalent to English A-Levels, or the last year of American High School/First year of college. It's also infamous for being about a bajillion times harder than either of them, and it's pretty much a guarantee that any student taking it will have absolutely no life until it's over. Aside from doing 6(!) subjects with the associated coursework and exams, there's a mandatory CAS [Creativity, Action and (community) Service] requirement of at least 150 hours, a ToK (Theory of Knowledge - Philosphy lite with an emphasis on epistemology) with an essay and presentation at the end, and finally the dreaded 4000 word Extended Essay on a topic of your choosing. More information on wiki if you want.
But basically, it's school, it's hard, and I can kiss my holidays goodbye until the end of next year.

Re: [Nexus] Nexus OOC VIII: Portable Atrocities
Don't worry, Kris. After the IB program, university is easy. I didn't realize how quite crazy IB was until I got here and it was over.
It is rather hard, yes. The end of year exams are supposed to be (and usually are) tougher than the USA's College Board Advanced Placement tests, which are themselves pretty hard.
The 4000 word essay is more serious than it sounds and you have to put a significant amount of time in just to pass that requirement with a bad grade.
150 hours doesn't sound too bad either, but it will mess up any schedule of things you had planned.

Trust me, the Professor killed three people to break up a mob attacking a vampire.... So he could disect a live vampire.

Re: [Nexus] Nexus OOC VIII: Portable Atrocities
I wonder...is there a college or whatever in the Nexus for people over 16 to practice and learn?
EDIT: Also, RPG, I got around to posting in the outside thread before passing out of exhaustion. Sitting on the couch and recovering from surgery is 'hard' 'work'.Last edited by TechnoScrabble; 2010-12-10 at 03:20 PM.

Re: [Nexus] Nexus OOC VIII: Portable Atrocities
I have a plot idea. In the mountains of Rockyeverest, a yeti is terrorizing a local village. The PCs are hired to track down the yeti, and destroy it. And at one point, there will be a mad scientist in an airplane. Anyone interested?

Re: [Nexus] Nexus OOC VIII: Portable Atrocities
...lolwut?
ANywho, sorry Keith isn't helping Maxios out, but he's delivering snackies to the poor peoples and I think it's unfair to bring out a nuke-firing rifle into the fray.
I know it won't perma-kill a vampire (well, the heat might) but still, it's mean.

Re: [Nexus] Nexus OOC VIII: Portable Atrocities
So...if a bullet has a water chamber and a francium pellet, and the francium pellet is forced into the water causing a nuclear explosion, would that kill a vampire?

Re: [Nexus] Nexus OOC VIII: Portable Atrocities
I'm pretty sure the Nexus is too chaotic and medieval to have any bigger institutes of learning.
But a quest to make one could be a pretty groovy plot
The sun is a tad more complicated than that.
Especially considering it's probably degraded to heavier materials now.
And a fusion reactor doesn't go through space and the atmosphere, or hold symbolic value.
Then again, we're talking nuclear physics and vampires so I'm not so sure any of this matter to the rule of coolTreasured Quotes

In most of the movies that explained them scientifically, they just had a real bad UV allergy.
It's a real thing!
