Re: Sandbox Khorvaire [IC]
Wraithbane
Spoiler
Wraithbane read the following:
Hear ye! Hear ye!
Are you feeling down and in need of a boost? Are you lost and looking for direction? Then look no further than the Wayfinder Foundation. The new Lower Sharn chapter has recently opened and is looking for applicants.
Explore the treacherous wilds of the Shadow Marches! The steamy jungles of Q'Barra! The hostile steppes of Darguun! The barren mysteries of the Mournland! All in the name of archaeology!
Beneath that is an address.
Rak
Spoiler
"Ah," the old man said. "Arcanix and the Whispering Rocks are wondrous places." He takes a long drag. "If I were you, I'd consider looking east afterwards. Karrnath, the Mror Holds, the Lhazaar Principalities. See what's on the other side of this great continent. That's just me, however."
Thurk
Spoiler
Thurk noticed a trace of mud or muck at the edges of her cloak, the kind of color one only finds deep in the jungle. Tedia smiled and shifted the cloak when she noticed his stare. "You didn't think you were the only one asking questions, were you? I was confident you were the right person for the job, but one doesn't reach my position without being anything less than completely thorough."

Rak
Spoiler
The old man nodded at Rak as he left, staying to continue smoking his pipe.
It took Rak hours, but he eventually crested a rise and saw Lake Galifar stretching out before him. Just at its edge was the town of Cree, another day or two's travel from his position. He could swear he saw small dots hovering just about the horizon to the southeast.

Spoiler
*Settling in to wait patiently, Aaden finds a comfortable barrel near where the Airship is planned to land and lights his pipe, puffing away contentedly, watching the people as they come and go.*
*Getting in a rush would do no good - better to watch and wait. Anything out of the ordinary would stand out... with luck.*

"And the dwarf..will we be expecting more trouble from him or will he be leaving you alone now? I would prefer us not have to make trouble with the locals if we can avoid it. Assuming that is the case, I will make preparations at the shrine for our guests."Hope rides alone.

Aaden d'Sivis
Spoiler
Just before Aaden took his seat, he felt something rustle against his backside momentarily. A quick glance showed a gnome walking briskly away from him, about to disappear in the crowd.
Lucius
Spoiler
Marshal DeWitt said, "It seems to me that the 'locals' are all of a violent persuasion, more or less. Vengeful, sullen, cruel. I have no doubt the dwarf will be a problem, for you especially. By dropping that rope without a drop of blood shed between us, I gather he's lost much of whatever face he'd gained here in Festering Holt. Regardless, I should be off to visit our Ghaash'kala friends. I leave the shrine in your care, Lucius."
With that, he left.

Rak
SpoilerWith renewed vigor, Rak hurried along towards Cree. He was looking forward to a nice ale after all the days drinking stale water.
However, Rak had heard about people outside of the Reaches felt about shifters. He decided to approach the town stealthy, and spot it out before heading in.

Aaden d'Sivis
Spoiler
Aaden had seen the man coming, felt the brush at his backside, beneath his cloak, and had felt the slight addition of weight to his belt. He'd hooked something there. He saw the gnome just then disappear behind a wall of crowd.
Rak
Spoiler
Rak approached Cree silently. Despite being well within the borders of the Reaches, it was a more cosmopolitan city than most in the nation. Despite all that, in his stealthy approach, he saw nothing that seemed out of the ordinary for Reacher folk.

Re: Sandbox Khorvaire [IC]
Rak
Spoiler
Rak overheard a number of conversations: the weather, the harvest, and other sundry talk typical of Reaches life. He also overheard talk of attacks on Lake Galifar and some sort of trouble happening along the Aundair-Breland border.
Aaden d'Sivis
Spoiler
The object proved to be nothing more than a length of twine. One end was wrapped around a small rock, the other around a folded piece of paper.

Re: Sandbox Khorvaire [IC]
Rak
Spoiler
Rak entered the town proper. Wide cobbled avenues and crisscrossing broadways made up the bulk of the town, with all streets curving to funnel to the dock. Rak wandered a bit, eventually winding up in one of the many dockfront taverns. While most such taverns would be considered skeevy, for a port town like Cree, they were often the most high class.
Being barely afternoon, there wasn't much in the way of clientele. Some men sat drinking and talking, some playing at cards, but the window shutters were open, letting in copious amounts of sunlight.
Wraithbane
Spoiler
It took some travel, but Wraithbane eventually made it to the address. The building was not at all impressive--an old antique's shop. The note said the meeting would be on the second floor. Obviously not the most well-funded branch of the organization.

Rak
SpoilerRak sits down at the bar and orders a meal and a drink. After wolfing down most of his food, he looks around, and begins to slow down his eating. He didn't want to seem like some savage from the wilderness. He turned to the barkeep (after taking a long drink), and asked where a man might find some work for a bit in this town.

Spoiler
"Well," the barman said while wiping a glass, "there's not much that don't involve the lake. Stevedores are always useful. If you're skilled with a line or a net, you could go far as a fisherman. Guards are useful, too, what with the pirates and all."

Spoiler
*With a smile, the little man puffs contentedly on his pipe, relaxing for a little while. Zalan. Hm. Interesting. After a few minutes, he stands, making his way to the man most apparently filling the role of dock foreman. Undoubtedly the one watching the other men work and givnig the occasional instruction.*
"Excuse me, good sir. I apologize for bothering you, but I have some dear friends arriving on the next vessel from Aundair. Have you received word of when they will be here?"

Wraithbane
Spoiler
A few minutes later, Wraithbane saw a man make a hasty dash down the stairs. He stumbled and fell when he saw the warforged, but got to his feet in one fluid motion. "W-What is it you need?" he said. After a beat. "How long have you been here?"

Aaden d'Sivis
Spoiler
The dwarven foreman glanced at Aaden as he approached before turning to bark an order at one of the workers. He turned back to Aaden, obviously annoyed. "No. No word, only an estimated arrival." He glanced at a sheet. "Three o'clock is the estimate, but it could be any time. Those damn Lyrandars never bother with checking in." He turned away from Aaden. The conversation, for him, was obviously over.

Aaden d'Sivis
Spoiler
*With a polite thank you to the dwarven foreman, Aaden looked at the note again. Several hours between when the airship arrived and he was supposed to make it to whatever meet he was invited to. Interesting.*
*If it was going to be several hours until the airship arrived, there would be no harm in checking the Hotel Zalan out first. It was always useful to know the layout before things got hairy.*
*Strolling down the road, he whistles a little tune, tapping out his pipe as he goes. What an interesting day. With any luck, he'd make it through all of this and there wouldn't be any trouble. Killing was so messy, even if it was necessary sometimes.*

Re: Sandbox Khorvaire [IC]
Rak
Spoiler
The common room was bustling, everyone running from place to place, making ready for the attack. Tables were cleared to make room for small piles of weapons and armor. One central table had a dozen people around it, poring over a map of the town, coordinating their defense efforts.
Rak heard cannon fire overhead. Some of the men were shaken at the sound and rumbling, but a one-eyed half-orc at the central table stayed calm, not looking up from the map. "Easy," he said. "It's only a warning shot. We've a few minutes to prepare."
Aaden d'Sivis
Spoiler
The Hotel Zalan was by far the most majestic building in Zalanberg. Built in the dwarven fashion, only the front of the building protruded from the rock around it, the rest was built into the mountain, making a guess at its size bordering on the impossible. The front facade had five floors and each floor above the ground level had five wide windows. It was done up with columns and arches incorporating the architectural styles of the elves, dwarves, and gnomes; typical to what might have been found during the days of Galifar. The front entry was only accessible up a short flight of stairs. Men and women of all races milled about its entry, entering and exiting. A pair of gnomish pikemen flanked the doorway.
Wraithbane
Spoiler
"O-oh. Well. Someone must have given you the w-wrong address. Nothing to see here. Now if you'd just m-move along, please." Even to Wraithbane, the man's fidgeting and nervous glances upwards were suspicious. It was obvious to him that the man was hiding something.
