Re: [Rail] Academy City OOC II : ONEESAMA!!!!
Assuming it's not too much trouble, could you possibly be more specific? If there's some aspect of the setting that's driving potential players away, we'd like to know about it. Unless of course it's just a case of being set in the wrong time period or suchlike, in which case there's not much to be done about it.

Re: [Rail] Academy City OOC II : ONEESAMA!!!!
Well I thought it was an original setting but now that I know that it's based off some anime I've never even heard of. Nah... I know it says watching the show is optional but since I realise that the world is already made rather than what the players make of it I don't care for it.

Re: [Rail] Academy City OOC II : ONEESAMA!!!!
An understandable concern. Though knowing the source material isn't essential, it definitely helps. Anyway, if you're ever looking for a good anime or manga in the future then it might be worth giving Index/Railgun a try. It's a very enjoyable series, even when it's not being used to create forum RPs.

I think I'll have Hinata do something weird, but I'm lacking ideas.

Re: [Rail] Academy City OOC II : ONEESAMA!!!!
Okay sorry for the double post but the story is obviously in a rut again. For those of you wondering why I am not starting the plot it's cause I can't. I've tried to do it subtle in the game itself, but as long as I have to deal with a big massive group where people stick together like glue I can't do a thing. I guess I'm a bad dm cause I tried to persuade you guys to split into groups but I don't know, it's not happening.
Anyways, I don't really care what happens as long as you guys have fun so if the story involves a big group of people I'm just gonna sit and wait for another day and let you guys have fun now. But I felt obligated to inform you people why I'm not doing anything.

Re: [Rail] Academy City OOC II : ONEESAMA!!!!
Ah, it seems that you've run afoul of one of the pitfalls of freeform plot design: If everyone's free to act as they will, how can you plan complex plots ahead of time? There's no single correct answer to this sort of question, so everyone develops their own way of dealing with them. For instance, I prefer to create the various actors and their motivations with almost no reference to specific scenes that are going to contain them. Instead I'll say 'Right, this villain's trying to take over the city using method X, for the sake of reason Y. Given that and his personality type of Z, how would he react to this off-the-wall thing that the players are doing right now?' That way there's no preplanned set of scenes to derail; The plot's actors are people just like anyone else, so they simply adapt to the circumstances.
Of course, that's not a method that's going to work for everyone. Assuming you're the type to prefer more tightly scripted plots, the best advice I can give is to communicate more in the OOC. If you need certain conditions to prevail in order for your plans to succeed, then you need to actively arrange for them to happen. People are often quite happy to go along with scripted cues, but they have no way of knowing what's required if they're not told about them. A quick note in the OOC or some PMs to the relevant players can be all that it takes to set things on the right path.
In short, don't feel obligated to do this alone. If you need small groups rather than big clusters, just tell us; Chances are we'll be happy to help.

Re: [Rail] Academy City OOC II : ONEESAMA!!!!
Ahhh I thought it was kind of a big no no to pretty much tell people to do so and so. (I was joking with Hinata/Rockwell) And well my story isn't really that tight scripted, only the start. I thought it would be better if different groups would work on different parts of the story. Then people wouldn't be dependable on such a large number of people for the story to continue and they could make their own twists and such. So I thought up different plot points for different groups to work on. And well improvise from there. Never had to be a dm or something before so I'm not surprised I already messed up.

Re: [Rail] Academy City OOC II : ONEESAMA!!!!
Don't be too hard on yourself. First times are always riddled with mistakes.
The trick is to tell people what to do in a way that makes them think it was their own idea in the first place."It's the fate of all things under the sky,
to grow old and wither and die."

Re: [Rail] Academy City OOC II : ONEESAMA!!!!
Oh and also, terribly sorry about being absent. I've been busy with various things, leading RPing to be in something of the Backburner.
