Well, I'm sure the guards that would watch him walk in are more loyal to his father than to him.
Plus, he needs to go directly to the castle to investigate the tower everything happened in, so he can get some leads.
He doesn't know any invisibility spells.
And he's almost out of summoning reagents.

I would support such a move to make such a rule, insomuch as that understandable lapses of that rule are fine...
For instance, if no-one else is using the Wall at all, it seems annoying to force two or three people who want to to wait until someone else does, too.

Perhaps a time limit rule compounded into the three post rule?

Three posts or ten-fifteen minutes, whichever comes first, is what I would suggest.
