Re: [Steam] Thread XIX: It's a Kritzmas miracle!
Hey guys, just tried out the King Arthur demo.
Pretty much a Total War clone, except with a few RPG elements and a mortalty chart, which is influenced by rather simple choices like "Defend the king of XYZ from the villainous tyrant and get some extra troops/ aid the tyrant and get shiny stuff".
You know what? We need to make a Steam Thread Total War clone. The Mortality charts can be Human/Hacker and Sane/Insane .Credit for my various avatars goes to Dashwood,Cealocanth,Kwarkpudding,Randomizer, kpengu in,Alarra,Bisected8,zimmerwald1915, and Thanqol.

Re: [Steam] Thread XIX: It's a Kritzmas miracle!
Man, every time I think "I should get back into TF2," Valve goes and does something else to ruin the art direction. I really wish we had that semi-vanilla server that was being discussed earlier...

Re: [Steam] Thread XIX: It's a Kritzmas miracle!
I find that shaft doesn't get used because it makes greater gameplay changes. Because, honestly, I like Natasha, and I probably enjoy whatever other weapons you've banned.
I think the pre-Polycount update is about as much item as I want. Possibly even dropping the community weapons. Maybe include the polycount weapons, but I dunno :-/
Just my opinion mind...I'd also be mostly fine with completely back to vanilla, although I would dearly miss my ubersaw and kritz.
wtf;that didn't make sense: Damn right it didn't.Last edited by Dispozition; 2011-02-03 at 06:42 PM.

Although I don't know how hard it would be to set up (on any server, not just SHaFT), I guess pre-polycount wouldn't be bad, then. I'd miss me lil' Degreaser, but I got along fine in several comp matches with just the leafblower so I think I'd survive. Also, no hats. Earlier in TF2's life I could have tolerated them (probably), but now there's just so much negative emotion associated with them that I'd rather see then straight-up gone. (Please Gabe, can I have a hats_off cvar?)

Re: [Steam] Thread XIX: It's a Kritzmas miracle!
From the TF2 Blog.
"The Sharpened Volcano Fragment and the Sun-on-a-Stick will be obtainable through crafting after the Rift pre-order period ends."
The new promo weapons will be available to all. So us OCD people can still have every Item in the game.

Re: [Steam] Thread XIX: It's a Kritzmas miracle!
That's the thing I love about TF2, actually. Yeah, the art direction has been... changed. But even if I feel like I'm not "caught up", I can still just hop in and play. I've been playing a lot of FO:New Vegas lately but I'm still able to join TF2 and play whenever I'd like. Which is to say that I don't think it would take very much for you to "get back into [it]".
For you and everyone else who keeps mentioning hat troubles. No hats. Or perhaps you'd like to choose which items/hats? Those are two. You can probably find more with a few minutes on Google.Last edited by Valaqil; 2011-02-03 at 11:23 PM.

Re: [Steam] Thread XIX: It's a Kritzmas miracle!
Can someone explain how the sun on a stick is even vaguely an ok thing? When are scouts chasing down burning players? That thing is more situational that the damn daklohokalahdafada bar. Same goes for the other axe - when is the pyro hitting someone not on fire (barring medival, which doesnt count)

Re: [Steam] Thread XIX: It's a Kritzmas miracle!
The sun on a stick is terrible and I don't ever see it being much else, the bonus is ridiculously hard to get and not even worth it when you do. The Sniper and Pyro both have melee weapons that doeal triple damage if you hit them with another of your class abilities whereas the sun on a stick gets a measly extra 35% if someone is nice enough to help you activate it.
The Volcano Axe looks to be purely for medieval, as it stands the Pyro is unable to set anyone on fire in medieval whereas the Sniper can, the very fact that the Pyro is not able to do its namesake job while the Sniper of all things can is a pretty big problem in medieval mode, this axe fixes that problem. Outside of medieval mode though the new axe is terrible, you can set people on fire more effectively with a flamethrower (greater range and fire rate) and then you'll be given the additional option to follow up with an Axtinguisher if you choose to.Other Avatars:

Re: [Steam] Thread XIX: It's a Kritzmas miracle!
Just tried out the DOW2:Retribution beta for the first time.
Was not sure if Tyranids or Orks were cooler.
Then I heard the ork victory message.
"We won! Get me some fungus beer!"
