    Default Druids and Miracle

Does anybody know why druids can't cast Miracle? I mean, seriously. Nature IS a miracle.

Presumably because clerics worship something more powerful- something that DOES miracles, and creates nature.

PHB: "[The Druid] gains her magical power either from the force of nature itself or from a nature deity."

Clerics and Druids worshipping the exact same Deity get different spell lists because...um...I don't know. Anyone?

I sure can't think of any historical examples of people supposedly following the same religion differing strongly on the implications thereof.

How about because Druids already get a LOT, even in core? Or perhaps their powers are more "grounded" than wishful. I don't have a problem with this distinction--even if they honor the same deity. That said, if you'd like druids to have Miracle, then house rule it. :)

    Seriously. That never happens.

If you want a fluff reason, then I'd simply work it as Clerics spend their time worshipping deities, whereas a Druid worships nature. Even when a Druid has a deity, the Druid focuses on how the Deity interacts with and shapes all things natural. A Cleric, on the other hand, is simply asking for raw power.

Consider it this way - A Druids power uses nature as the lens through which they view magic, and therefore, their spellcasting is filtered through this lens. A Druids magic is therefore destined to be touched by nature always.

Clerics power uses divine power, the same source, but filters it through the spectrum of their own belief. It is more personal, their ambitions are shaped internally. As a direct result, the power they wield is raw-unfiltered divine power with the flavour of whatever cause to which they subscribe (represented by domains).
