Desiria takes one step forward, planting one foot directly on the logbook to make sure it goes nowhere it shouldnt in the fight. She then casts again, another magic missile, at the vine holding Sadi tight.

R2T18: Desiria takes one step forward, planting one foot directly on the logbook to make sure it goes nowhere it shouldn't in the fight. As she goes to cast again, she again realizes that these strange plants can recognize her most vulnerable moment when she casts the spell. This time, the non-grasping vine nails her right hand for 12 mod damage. Weak and with no combat skill, the vine easily wraps up her hand and around her torso to crush her for 8 mod damage.

Despite her hand being nearly broken, she still manages to focus her will. Worried more about her comrade than herself, she rips into Tom's attacker with another magic missile barrage of 9 force damage.

R2T12: Tom, what do you do? The vine that you were fighting with spear got Desiria when she was casting a spell, and she is now grappled. This thing is putting a major hurt on her.

Darrius orders: "Tom, you and I will have to focus on Desiria's vine. Dr. Cohen, she needs some good healing before you look at the others. We can't afford to lose her. Sorry, Mr. Kahir and Sadi. Looks like you're fighting yours alone until we can tear apart the one on Desiria."

"No," groans Mr. Kahir. "The effort it takes to break out all three will have limited effect. If one of us were held, that would be different; that's not the case. The mathematically sound decision is solid offense. Get her out of there, but just don't forget about us once you do."

R2T5: Darrius takes out Nighteater, focuses his energies and with a loud growl he stabs deep into the vine holding Desiria for a powerful 20 damage.

R2T4: It is as if Sadi's failed attempt to relax to a smaller and more lithe position only allowed his vine to constrict for 7 mod damage, though Sadi recognizes that some force is in play that helps to keep him from suffering more damage.

R2T3: Desiria's vine continues to weave and press in on her for 8 mod damage, and now shaking wildly from its accumulated piercings and acid burns. There is no doubt, however, that Desiria (now in the yellow) is groaning terribly from the pain.

R3T24: Mr. Kahir hacks at his for 10 damage.

R3T19: Dr. Cohen reaches down w/ a CSW for 27 healing on Desiria. She has only the lightest bruise remaining.

Tom stabs again, cursing under his breath. At first it seems that he doesn't penetrate the thick outer portion, but then he pushes into it with sheer brawn and the spear rips out the other side for 5 damage. But even as he withdraws the spear, he sees that this thing won't take much more .... but it will still take more than he had.

R3T4: Sadi's vine does a whalloping constriction for 13 mod damage.

R4T24: Mr. Kahir just can't get a good angle to swing as he is being crushed and his mindblade flails around.

R4T19: Mr. Cohen flies over to, and above, Sadi. He casts CMW on Sadi for 18 healing, and Sadi is now just shy of fully healed.

R4T18: Desiria, you are free!!! Now what? The vine/ person you could easily touch is Sadi's. Otherwise, you would need to jump down 5' to get to touch Mr. Kahir. Both vines are grappling, so if you did anything ranged there would be no AOO, but you would be firing into melee.

R4T12: Tom hops down into the hole. Momentarily holding his spear with his off hand, he reaches out and touches Kahir. A soothing coolness spreads through Kahir's battered body providing 13 healing.

But as Tom jumped down, his tail flicks flicks the logbook back into the hole and onto the sargasso. Meanwhile, Tom's tail is now stuck under Desiria's foot. And this is none too comfortable.

"Really?!" says the Dr. Cohen.

R4T11.9: "How can a plant be so bloody annoying?" Sadi hollered, slashing ineffectively at the vine holding him.

"Nature is a powerful force," grits Mr. Kahir even as he nods his thanks to Tom. "Underestimating it, especially when it is given malevolent will, was the downfall of many --OOF! ..."

R4T7: The vine presses even more on Mr. Kahir, cutting off what he was saying, doing 7 mod damage.

R4T5: Captain Darrius?

R4T5: Darrius rolls his eyes at Tom and then does a leaping charge, stabbing the plant for 6 damage.

R4T4: Sadi's vine only constricts for 6 mod damage (min).

R5T24: Mr. Kahir is able to get in a good cut on his vine for 7 damage.

R5T19: Mr. Cohen flies down to the sargasso floor next to the Kahir struggle and the captain. He picks up the book.

Sadi finally manages to cut free. The vine drops, flopping on the ground. Mr. Cohen comes to the flopping thing and squashes it with his hammer until it stops moving.

You check out the rest of the boat, but nothing interesting. Time to get back to the Wyvern and take a look at the logbook.
