R2T17: Tom opens the door and enters the cabin, moving to engage the closest plant man, the one fighting his captain.

R2T16: The plant man that charged Agnipati is back on balance. One of its blows bounces off of her hide. The second looks like it punched her squarely in the face, as if there was no way her hide could block it, and yet she is unharmed.

R2T12: Shouting Tree steps to also engage Agnipati's opponent, but he's recognized now that he is too exposed to the powerful slams of these monsters so he puts all of his strength into his blow while doing so defensively, but misses entirely.

R2T10: Agnipati begins her spear-spin. Two land, one miss, for 26.

R2T9: The good doctor swoops in to fly behind Shouting Tree and uses his innate powers to heal 11.

R2T8: The plant man on Darrius (and threatened by Tom) swings at the captain twice for 18.

R2T4: Desiria, you'd have to step up to see the plant-man fighting Agnipati and Shouting Tree (w/ Dr. Cohen). You see the two (sorry, it was two, not one ... and cap could be flanked soon) fighting the captain and Tom. What do you do?

R3T26: Knowing plants just don't have "weak spots" Darrius tumbles around amazingly in a half-circle to be side by side with Tom while drawing Nighteater. He focuses while coming down from a high thrust in his stance and hits into its "skull" (mushy head area) for a respectable 18.

R3T21: The horror that was more center-room ('behind' Darrius) steps up to attack him. The first swing was horrendous, but the second clips him in his sword arm for 3 mod (min), with Tom's aura helping.

R3T17: Tom, you are squared off with a plant-man, with the captain to your right and squared off with another. What do you do? By now, you've noticed that the creatures are about as skilled in combat as yourself, but stronger.

R3T17: Tom tries to fend off the creature in front of him with his shield while he stabs at the captain's opponent, thinking it best to concentrate their attacks. His spear is having to get through openings of his captain's shield, though, and otherwise can't find an opening.

R3T16: Two fists at Agnipati; two dodges.

R3T12: Again, Shouting Tree puts full power into his attack while being particularly aware of defenses, and he smacks into it for an impressive 18.

R3T9: The good doctor lands another intuitive CLW onto Shouting Tree to top him off.

Figuring that fighting these things one-on-one would be a draw for Darrius, and he doesn't want to back up for fear of the thing following and creating an opening for drawing forth an assassin vine, he pays more attention to his shieldwork in front of him while keeping his excellent footwork with his acrobat boots. R4T17: Seeing the success of Desiria's elemental attack, Tom pivots to make sure that nobody else is in the line of fire and then exhales a blast of numbing frost at the same target. Tom has a chance to step 5' to the side and breathe a line at both, but that 5' step isn't quite so easy. While his own opponent beats against Tom's hide, the other one tips Tom in the right kidney for 3 mod. Tom makes the lineup and breathes at an excellent angle. Tom's opponent gets the wind in his face for 12 cold, but partially blocks the wintry blast for the other, who only takes 6 cold.

R5T16: Agnipati continues to trade blocks with her opponent.

R5T12: Shouting Tree continues to use the same style of full-power/ defense, but misses.

R5T17: Tom steps forward and stabs again at the captain's opponent. While only a little more agile than a trained warrior, the plant men seem to have either training (unlikely) or a form (likely) that is good at defensive movement as Tom's spear passes.

R5T16: With no ability to affect Agnipati, the visciousness of the plant man on the other side now focuses on Shouting Tree. The slams come close to being straight on, but Shouting Tree's decision to fight defensively saves him both times as the sloppy fists fail to concuss him through his eel hide studded leather.

R5T12: Shouting Tree, seeing how fighting with defense has saved him, keeps this tactic along with power, whalloping the thing for 13 and dropping it.

R5T10: Agnipati strolls over and thrusts through the final plant man, ending it and the battle.

Since Desiria's channel energy has been used to heal the group, he hasn't needed to use any of his healing, so he has unlimited orisons, 8 1st-level, 7 2nd-level, and 4 3rd-level spells remaining.

In addition, he seems to have been blessed with certain powers.
Spoiler: Lazer's SLA and Su Powers
    Show
CLW; detect evil, remove fear, aid, see invisibility, continual flame, dispel magic, remove curse, remove disease. He can use these SLAs each 3/day, though he only has 1 CLW remaining, and 2 dispel magic remaining.

As a healer he can cleanse fear, disease, and paralysis each 1/day. Whenever he channels positive energy to heal, he removes the sickened and dazed conditions.

He seems to have some ability to shrug off minor blows.

Shouting Tree has little protection, though Dr. Cohen vows he is damn tough. He prefers his Spear of Fertility, though he has used his jaguar-skull mace since he is not sure what his plant-enhancing spear would do to the enemy. He is quite strong, but nothing like the captain, let alone Agnipati. He is extremely fast on his feet, acrobatic, and athletic. This environment is problematic for him, though. Most of his personal power comes from a rapport with animals, and he hasn't trained his panther yet; his preferred hit-and-run style of combat is useless against creatures that have no true weak spots; and has been stated, his defenses are weak and he might just get hammered again and again, but without being a spellcaster he is also best on the front lines.

Darrius, Desiria, Tom .... what about you?

    DESIRIA

I have used two of my abilities to channel healing, that leaves me another 9. However in terms of offense, I am much more limited, I have used all but 3 of my magic missiles, my best remaining attack is a scorching ray which I can use 5 times.

The captain says, "You've seen my martial tricks, though you may not recognize them. However, the most dramatic you may have noticed is to step through one shadow and out of another up to 50' away. Much of my prowess is mitigated by our opponents, but I already chose the best combination of 'incarnum melds' to help with footwork on the sargasso, sighting, and acid attack.

"I can detect the presence of evil, something I often forget when directing the actions of others, but we don't have time for that slow bit of movement. As I said, once a day I can channel the power of good to create some protection for me, protection that is completely unlike any other that someone might offer me as well."

"I can breathe frost and call mist all day if I have to... I still have all of my healing and other ordinary spells. Unfortunately all of my war magic is cold based, which does not work on everything out here. And it's a problem when fighting in rooms no bigger than a broom closet, which also seems to be the rule out here. I can protect us against the elements if we find anything that fights that way. I can make mundane weapons bite deeper for a short time, assuming I have enough warning before a fight... although most everyone here seems to have an enchanted weapon of some sort..."

Tom admires Agnipati's new form. She's like twice the demon he is. That is both alarming and a little exciting...

"Good," the captain nods tersely to Tom. "Now, this is divine stuff, right? Can you heal if it comes to it?"

"Yes, I can heal... although not quite as well as Desiria."

"But you can heal," says Darrius. "And since you're not saying much about your spells otherwise right here, let's have Desiria focus more on offense, you on mixed healing/ combat, and Dr. Cohen on healing/defense."
