the hell... sorry guys, I'm close to giving up. After I noticed a mistake with my initial approached, I tried deriving a simpler formula, but a variable that shouldn't disappear keeps... well, disappearing. Must be making a fundamental mistake somewhere and currently can't track it down

If it helps any, I'd be fine with approximations for the moment, and I've only got the one lantern lit right now, so I assume it's my LoS that's holding things up.
Edit: And if you need to know if a particular square is lit, just count corners from the originating intersection.

the trouble was with determining LoS on certain squares, there are quite a few I have to check. I tried making a formula where I just have to insert distance on x and y axis, height of obstacle and distance to obstacle to streamline the process, but I must've made a mistake somewhere and can't find it ^^ well, I'll try once again and if it doesn't work back to how I made it before

OK, I... wow. I made no mistake. I just thought the result is too simple to be true, but it perfectly works.
If yo want to determine if there is an unbroken line between two points, say, K16/L17+5 and R12/S13+20, you just need to calculate
h=h(1)*Δx/a
Δx is the distance on the x axis between the two points(7 squares), a the distance on x axis to the obstacle(the p wall, so 4 squares), h(1) the height difference between starting point and obstacle(2 squares)
that gives us h=3,5, meaning there is LoE between K16/L17+5 and R12/S13 from 17,5 feet upward.(edit: 22,5, forgot the +5 of starting square. Oopsies)
I was so confused because Δy drops out of the equation... Boy, that makes LoS checks way easier for me in the feature

SpoilerMinor oversight in light emanation for characters with low-light.
For characters with low-light vision, the torch in R8-S9(+15) should be illuminating Q6-R8 brightly.
