A couple of the guards start making shooing motions at the drone, trying to get it out of there.

Bugs shakes his head. "Secret. Couldn't warn anyone in case they heard. I've already taken care of mundane injuries." Zel should be nearby.

"Well, alright," Eileen says, leaning back onto the hospital bed with a sigh, and feeling a bit useless.

Carl's HQ

Sunny takes a page from KR's book, and sits and works until she passes out from exhaustion where she sits, half crumpled over onto the table.

Carl's Apartment

The two puppies notice her passing out, look at each other, before taking turns pawing at her ankles and whining and whimpering, trying to get the nice and good smelling woman awake.

They want to get her to lay down so they can snooze on top of her.

Well... assuming they get around to using teeth and claws, that will probably work. She'll make it as far as the sofa.

They do, and when she gets there, the two dogs crawl up the side of the couch, falling a couple times each until they get up, and snuggle on top of her before falling asleep.

He tries to be friendly, but it realy seems like he missunderstands the situation.

Sunny and Geoff are going over plans together, speaking in extreme technobabble, when Charity arrives.

"Oh, Sunny, I came as soon as I heard." she says, hugging her sister tightly. Sunny allows the hug, but pulls away as soon as she can.

"Hi, Cherry. Do you know Geoff? He's an engineer too."

Charity gives a brief nod to Geoff and pulls her sister away. "Are you okay?"

"No," Sunny says.

"Come with me. You can stay at my place for a few days. Let me take care of you."

Sunny shakes her head. "Work to do. Lots."

"It's okay to take some time off."

"Don't want to. Work helps." Sunny insists.

Charity sighs. "Isn't there anything I can do to help?"

Sunny digs into her pocket and pulls out some keys, handing them to her sister with a smile that doesn't quite reach her dark-circled eyes. "Go to Carl's quarters and check on puppies? Hoverdrone is with them, but they like people better."

Charity gives a look of appeal to Geoff, but he either doesn't catch it or doesn't respond. Finally she sighs heavily and goes to find someone who can point her to the on base housing. If playing with puppies is the only way she can help her sister, then she'll go and play with puppies.

Sunny shakes her head and turns back to the plans. "The turboencabulator matrix generators are too large unless we containerize the inertial dampening capsules..."

The drone clicks insistently and moves closer by a meter, projecting a hazy image full of bright colors that keep changing and shifting.

When the Drone gets closer, Carol, in one of the watchtowers fires a powerful armor piercing round from her sniper rifle at it.

Dizzy shakes her head. "That's because you won't say anything. Turn it on, and we'll analyze the transmission. If it looks good, we'll go from there."

Carl's Place

As Charity heads there, Edijar catches up to her, wearing just his uniform at this point, and pulls her close for a kiss and a tight embrace.

Charity clings to Edijar a lot harder than usual. "She won't stop working."

Edijar holds her close. "People cope differently. All we can do is make sure she eats, drinks, and gets some rest. She'll get better when Carl gets back, I promise."

Geoff is waiting for the equipment from EE, a stopwatch in his hand as it counts down from 12 hours, wondering just how close they're going to be...

Carl's Quarters

Edijar kisses her forehead gently. "I mean it. Now come, let's go make sure things will be ready for them when they're together again, and rested, okay?"

The two hovercarts pull up to a stop.

And...Crissy pops out from underneath a tarp on one!

And waves with a grin.

"Special Delivery for Commandar Edijar!"

Charity seems unconvinced, but she unlocks the door and the two puppies come spilling out, delighted to have warm-blooded company.

"Identification number first." And assuming she gives the right one, will be patched through, where Vasquez won't say anything, letting the diplomat start.

Geoff waves her in. "I'll handle it. Bring it in. You got it all?"

"Watchtower has directly offered assistance, and they'd like to know where they could best help."

A an oblong shielding system flashes all sorts of colors when the bullet hits, and though the bullet itself is stopped, a large dent is put in the drone and it is almost forced to the ground. A startled voice emanates from it.
"What in the great black void of space was that for? Can't you bunch of savages recognize a diplomacy drone! Honestly, I have no idea why Luke wants to save you all."

When the bullet hits the shield, there's a small flash of light from the bullet as well, and the frequency of the field is sent back to Carol's rifle. The gate closes behind the shipment of supplies, and Carol's voice rings out. "You were told to back off! You will move back three meters, or the next show will not be a warning!"

"What are their terms?" Vasquez asks.

Inside-Courtyard

Several teams of people will begin offloading supplies as Geoff checks the loading list.

The shield actually has multiple layers, each of which is different and most of them aren't electromagnetic or in wave form. The bullet passed through the first three, but only two of them should really be readable, unless the bullet is REALLY high tech, and they stop certain electromagnetic signals and work to reverse kinetic energy using the energy itself, so that the harder someone hits it with a club, the more energy goes back through the club and shatter their arm.

The drone backs up.
"I'm THIS far from telling Luke you guys just declared war so I can turn this planet into a marble."

The bullet is High Tech. Expensive, but is worth it. The next shot she fires should be able to pierce the shields without slowing down too much, and the same for the rest of the ammo in the smart clip. "You had been warned to back off, and failed to comply. The fault is your own. State your business or leave."

"A variety of things, actually. Foremost, that we have cleared the swarm from your city and pushed the gene shapers back to the area you call the 'Yellow Zone'. We also have the locations of the enemy landing areas, and wish to engage in trade. Why Luke wants to trade, I have no idea. It's not like you have anything useful to us."

"The universal response seems to be 'we don't need payment for helping in this.'"

There's a moment's pause as Carol clarifies a few things before she answers. "You have already been given permission to exterminate the bugs using reasonable force. We can talk of trade once they're taken care of."

Comms

There's a pause as Carol talks to Vasquez over the line, before she answers. "Tell them that there is a massive bug infestation in Yellow Zone that needs to be taken care of. And ask them who is in charge there. It's been hard to tell."
