Or at least wandering in the places she's allowed to wander in. First location to check out? The recreation room! Though she'll find a drinking fountain first and chug some water for a while.

She's still pretty dehydrated from all the throwing up she's done recently.

Jeany will see the pavilions being set up. Probably won't have much trouble guessing what they are for, since she met Sunny. There are a few people doing set up stuff, a few (visible) guards doing security, and a very noticeable woman who seems to be supervising the whole shebang.

What makes her noticeable?

Well, the fact that she's got little sparkles of colour falling off of her as she moves, the way a swimmer sheds drops of water just as they exit the pool. Since she's happy but full of busy, the drops are rainbow coloured with extra orange.

RETCON ALERT

Wolfy and Moon have decided that Remnant and Tyranids don't mix, and have decided to retcon out those encounters. To make this possible, here are the changes:

1. Amil applied for a helpline job while she was still human. Therefore the Amil in this thread is human!Amil and the Amil/Jeany in the Inside thread is infected!Amil.

2. Amil has never met Jyarl or Missy, as she would never have been deemed a major security threat.

3. None of the Tyranid fight scenes happened.

4. The base is not on high alert.

Delisle considers something. They had just hired Amil for the hotline, but it was still understaffed. "Of course, we have an opening on the OH DEAR GODS HELP ME hotline, if you're interested. The job would include base housing." Delisle offers Care.

Vasquez's phone rings. Caller id is Jacob Stevenson.

Vas looks at the caller I.D. and lets it ring twice before finally picking it up, smiling somewhat. "Jake? Or is this Gus?"

She has the right voice for it, I suppose. Nothing beats being addressed by the cool tones of a British RP Imperial accent, when you're in extreme danger and about to die.

"The emergency line people call when they're being attacked by monsters or need to report an apocalypse in progress." Delisle says.

"Not much. Just a warning. He wanted to talk mostly. Says he'll accept me, but not accept me. Know what I mean?" She asks.

"He said he'll give us, you and me, a chance. But he's not going to try and get involved that way either." Vasquez explains.

Getting attacked by monsters is unfortunately more common than most people would like. Given that... y'know... most people would probably favor not getting attacked by monsters ever.

There are a few that seem to like it.

But they're strange.

Amil (who was totally human the whole time!) had finished poking around the Comm Room and is now heading back to her own quarters. It's about time to check in on Mister Glubs! She had caught the Mini-Magikarp whilst fishing about a year back and the silly little critter has really grown on her sense.

Not literally.

That would be strange.

Sooo... Just in her room. Feedin' her fish. Maybe if it eats enough sea monkeys it'll evolve into a tiny Gyrodos.

"I sort of had to." Vasquez admits. "If we're going to try this, I had to be open to the possibility he'd like to be involved. As I said, you two are somewhat the same person. I can't ignore that."

She can't help but smile and laugh a bit at his reply. "Maybe it'd be smart, but I feel like taking a gamble. I guess Gus didn't tell you, but there's a wedding going on here, and I need a +1. Interested? I think you'd fit in."

Care considers for a moment. I mean, answering a hotline sure beats fetching coffee, filling out office supplies and making paperwork. Or... something like that. Also, accommodation in what's probably the safest place in the Nexus. Beats a Red, Yellow, hell, maybe even a Blue Zone apartment any day.

In the morning she wakes, freshens up, showers, applies clothing! and feeds her fish before heading off toward the mess hall. It's a bit late so it'll probably be a good idea to grab something light before hurrying off to the Comm room.

Being late on her first shift would set a terrible impression.

Brief Tour

Delisle will show Care to her quarters, which for single civilians is a small studio apartment. Since Care's last place was destroyed, Delisle will arrange for a pay advance so she isn't stuck with owning nothing until payday.

Along the way, she'll point out the Rec Center and the Mess Hall, comment on the pavilions in the Inner Courtyard and that they're for the wedding of one of their soldiers.

Possibly they'll run into Amil on the way!

Amil is actually leaving the Mess Hall this very moment!

She's got a nantine of water, an apple, a bananna, and a granola bar! Pretty simply breakfast that she can nom at her leisure. Why so light?

Because it's time to get to work! There are desperate people out there in the city that need rescuing from mantis-men and vampire pears and heaven knows what else!

And Amil is going to be that friendly voice of Remnant that tells them everything will be okay and summons up the good guys to save the day.

Comm Center

The Comm Center is a rather large room, but considering the high amount of traffic and how many people rely on it for support, that's not surprising. At the far wall are dozens of large monitors, showing everything from street cameras(from visible light, to Infra-Red and more), topographical maps of Inside, air currents around the base, ley-lines, and even maps of the known sewer systems. It's all quite complex, and rather fast paced.

Probably intimidating as well.

In front of those, are three lines of computers, most with uniformed people in front of them, controlling the coding, organization, and analysis of all the incoming information.

The OH DEAR GOD HELP ME! Hotline area however, is at the top of the tiered room, allowing those working there a clear view of the screens.

Of course, Amil has a background in running some reasonably complicated technology so the complexity doesn't hit her too hard. She heads up to the 'OH GODS HELP ME!' section and smiles at whoever's up there at the moment before handing over the totally official paper work that she was totally given regarding her new job.

"Morning. I'm Amil Wightson."

A hand is offered!

A blue skinned woman in a Remnant uniform(skirt instead of pants), doesn't bother looking up from her computer, but gives a slight nod as she works on relaying services to the appropriate response teams. "Top right drawer, grab the black binder. You'll probably start tomorrow to give you time to study up on everything." If Amil looks for the binder, she'll find a huge one, about five inches thick, waiting for her.
