Re: General Exalted Discussion V: Our Armies are Pants
Roll of Glorious Divinity 1, Debris from the Fallen Races...
Just off the top of my head.
It patrols UNDER the underdark, of course. The underdark is big, but not infinite. Unless I've misread something.
The Sun and the Moon pop into Elsewhere when they hit an Elemental Pole, anyway. They just pop out again on the other side of Creation when they need to.
EDIT: Creation is explicitly infinite on the z-axis at the Poles, at any rate, so I would assume that the rest of it is as well, or so deep as to make no difference.Last edited by Mr.Bookworm; 2011-06-07 at 12:30 PM.

Re: General Exalted Discussion V: Our Armies are Pants
Each of the Elemental Poles is infinite in all directions, and the "underdark" is an expression of the Elemental Pole of Earth.
Yes, despite Creation only being slightly larger than the planet Earth.

Yes, that.

Re: General Exalted Discussion V: Our Armies are Pants
The cost for Loom Snarling Deception is only (10 - Essence). So, I imagine on off-days, she just spams it off and on to chat with the Pattern Spiders. Can you imagine the threads continuously being tangled and untangled and the only thing resonating throughout is-
"So you're spiders, huh? Is that fun?"
"Is it, huh?"
"Huh? =D"
"Huh? =D"
"Huh? =D"
"Huh? =D"
"Huh? =D"

So...who does Pinkie Pie favor?
He fears his fate too much, and his reward is small, who will not put it to the touch, to win or lose it all.

Odd that Kimbery is favored twice. Especially that Pinkie favors her. Wouldn't Oramus be a more natural fit?

Re: General Exalted Discussion V: Our Armies are Pants
Maybe. The reason I gave both Pinkie and Fluttershy Kimbery is that they both have their excessively vengeful side. Although, Adorjan might do better for Fluttershy, as her psychotic breaks end up being more yandere, whereas Pinkie just goes from happy to angry super fast - which is more Kimbery.
I suppose it would help if we had more info on what Oramus' charm set entails.

Re: General Exalted Discussion V: Our Armies are Pants
I've always assumed he was an Azathoth expy, but a bit more interesting. I mean, Kimbery's already got the Call of Cthulhu Excellency and the backstory with K'tula, but I don't see why you couldn't expand the Lovecraftian influence. I'm intending to try my hand at doing his set eventually, but I'm working on Auto-kun right now. Unfortunately, it might take a bit longer than I expected because I forgot about the Axiomatic Alchemical Charms and Clarity and started writing about Rube Goldberg machines and duct tape to avoid overlap with Swillin.

Re: General Exalted Discussion V: Our Armies are Pants
There's a very good rant by Holden somewhere around here that points out why Cthulhu and his ilk do not make very good Exalted villains. To sum it up: Lovecraftian horror revolves around beings that are incomprehensible by human minds, that could destroy our world by twitching the wrong way. Exalted revolves around tracking those beings down and hitting them with a bigass sword until they die. Therefore, to be effective villains, the cosmic horrors in Exalted need at least recognizable motives and goals. There are shout-outs, but actually putting an expy in there would probably not be good.
Anyway, even if that was the way they went, Oramus has absolutely nothing in common with Azathoth, besides both being eldritch abominations. The King of the Primordials was much more like Azathoth, if Azathoth wasn't a drooling moron. Oramus is a lot closer to Yog-Sothoth, though the match isn't even close to perfect.
I'm intending to try my hand at doing his set eventually, but I'm working on Auto-kun right now. Re: General Exalted Discussion V: Our Armies are Pants
So I've got a question for you folks about the differences between the various Perfect Defenses (at least the Solar ones, I'm not familiar with other Exalt types yet to figure theirs out.)
Basically, as far as I'm aware for the PD's that have flaws of Invulnerability (to be specific) is that there are the 3 basic ones. SSE - Perfect Dodge, AST - Perfect Soak, HGD - Perfect Parry.
So there's some basic differences between at least HGD and the other two, namely that with HGD you need to be armed, and if you're armed with a non-artifact weapon, and the parry soaks up more than 25 damage in one attack, the weapon breaks.
Beyond that, I've heard people say that AST is the only PD that can protect an Exalt from falling damage - I'm curious, is this actually spelled out anywhere? It seems very Exalted to me to picture an armed Solar fall off an airship (to use the typical example) only to parry or dodge the ground.
So is it actually stated anywhere in the rules that this would not work? Or are we just going by common sense here? (A dangerous exercise in the Exalted universe.)
Also, it seems to me that there are certain weaknesses to AST? For instance, if a Solar Hero Style user were to strike someone using AST with a Heaven Thunder Hammer, would the AST user still get thrown backwards? It seems to me that someone using SSE or HGD wouldn't have to worry about it, as the attack wouldn't have connected in the first place.
Also, it seems that someone using SSE without any of its upgrade charms might not be able to use SSE versus area-of-effect attacks?
Anyways, yeah. Perfect Defenses - not actually so perfect?Originally Posted by Grifter, character in game I'm GMing

Re: General Exalted Discussion V: Our Armies are Pants
1. Duck Fate is a perfect perfect. It dodges even falling damage.
2. This is why the paranoia strategy was invented. You need both SSE and AST. Two-stage defense.
