Ring of Feather Falling and Enlarge Person (more rules lawyering)
Ring of Feather Falling
This ring is crafted with a feather pattern all around its edge. It acts exactly like a feather fall spell, activated immediately if the wearer falls more than 5 feet.
Spoiler: long textRange close (25 ft. + 5 ft./2 levels)
Targets one Medium or smaller free-falling object or creature/level, no two of which may be more than 20 ft. apart
Duration until landing or 1 round/level
Saving Throw Will negates (harmless) or Will negates (object); Spell Resistance yes (object)
DESCRIPTION
The affected creatures or objects fall slowly. Feather fall instantly changes the rate at which the targets fall to a mere 60 feet per round (equivalent to the end of a fall from a few feet), and the subjects take no damage upon landing while the spell is in effect. When the spell duration expires, a normal rate of falling resumes.
The spell affects one or more Medium or smaller creatures (including gear and carried objects up to each creature's maximum load) or objects, or the equivalent in larger creatures: a Large creature or object counts as two Medium creatures or objects, a Huge creature or object counts as four Medium creatures or objects, and so forth.
This spell has no special effect on ranged weapons unless they are falling quite a distance. If the spell is cast on a falling item, the object does half normal damage based on its weight, with no bonus for the height of the drop.
Feather fall works only upon free-falling objects. It does not affect a sword blow or a charging or flying creature.
Questions and some assumed answers.
1) Being level 1, what happens when there is a long fall?
Assumed Answer; After one round, the ring reactivates (there are no charges).
2) Being level 1, does the ring function for a Large wearer?
Answer; Hmm...
3) If the wearer has been turned to stone, can the statue be dropped from a great height safely?
Answer; Well, the wearer is now a statue, so he might not be a "wearer" now. Even if he is, the ring has become stone and might not function. Even if the other stuff didn't matter, the statue is heavier than the max weight that the ring can support (not sure about that one). Also... know what? Just go away kid, you're bothering me.
Any better RAW (or even RAI) answers?Avatar of Vlad Taltos and Loiosh by Bradakhan

Re: Ring of Feather Falling and Enlarge Person (more rules lawyering)
1) Keeps reactivating, yup
2) Probably yes, since the item replicates the effect of the spell, it doesn't actually "cast" the spell (compare to items that let you use spells "at will")
3) If the wearer is turned to stone, his gear is turned to stone as well, making it inert. The statue falls normally.

Something I've always wondered is: if one's hand is more than 5' from the ground (say, a Huge creature), and they trip, does the ring activate?

Re: Ring of Feather Falling and Enlarge Person (more rules lawyering)
Since the ring is caster level 1st and it works exactly as the spell, I would think that it doesn't work for a large wearer. A custom item costing double to get CL 2nd should work.
