I'm going to admit, I didn't find that this story effected me that much.

It's just too...like, it's a trauma cavalcade, and it goes from 'sad' to 'oh, come on, what can happen now'?

Add to that, that at points it's basically Grave of the Fireflies, just with ponies, and I didn't care much for how it was written, so it just didn't work that much for me.

I don't really care for that dynamic. It ties the two of them too closely together when really they have nothing to do with each other until the very wery berry end of an overlong trilogy. If their being programs is all it takes, you may as well just make every program Pinkie. And at some point that just stops being funny.
