This thread is just what you think. It's just to discuss Avatar the Last Airbender.

Just in general discuss the movie or the shows or make fun of how the movie says almost all the character's names wrong!

If you have ever seen this show you know it is amazing!

The Movie's effects were great, the martial arts and the way they showed the bending were very high caliber. But the rest of it was a travesty!!!!

What does everyone know about the animated special/movie I'm hearing about?

animated movie? i think they're just making a season 4.

    article from online:
    Spoiler
    Show
The rest of the season should continue shortly with Avatar Season 4 starting next sept/oct.

"Talks are reportedly underway to extend the show beyond just three seasons, which was the original plan by the creators. However, if there is a fourth season, it will likely follow a different storyline other than the Fire Lord and Fire Nation trying to take over the world, as both Nick executives and the co-creators have said season three will be when Aang faces the Fire Lord."

The Avatar Season 4 is set in an Asian-influenced world of martial arts and elemental manipulation; the series follows the adventures of Aang and his friends, who try to save the world from war with the Fire Nation. The show's protagonist Aang is trapped in an iceberg when he is found by two members of the Southern Water Tribe, Katara and Sokka. After being freed from the iceberg, Katara and Sokka join Aang on a long journey across the globe; their ultimate goal is to help Aang acquire the skills to defeat the Fire Lord and end the war.[4] In the series' terminology, each episode is referred to as a "chapter", and each season as a "book."

It made its debut on February 21, 2005, and the last episodes were screened on July 19, 2008; it is now available on DVD, the iTunes Store, and the Xbox Live Marketplace, as well as its home on Nickelodeon. Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko co-created the series, and serve as executive producers alongside Aaron Ehasz. Avatar: The Last Airbender is popular with both audiences and critics, garnering 4.4 million viewers on its best-rated showing and receiving high ratings in the Nicktoons lineup, even outside its 6–11-year-old demographic. The series' success prompted Nickelodeon to order second and third[9] seasons. Merchandise based on the series include scaled action figures, a trading card game, three video games based on the first, second, and third seasons, stuffed animals distributed by Paramount Parks, and two LEGO sets.

    Close.

Anyway, I'm a fan of the show. I'd be interested in seeing another series set in the world.

Kinda seems sad when you realize that Aang only lives to around 66 if the information is correct.

    Avatar: the movie.

    Ethnicity: you're doing it wrong.

The animated series, on the other hand, is a wonderful pinata stuffed with wonderful. It brings great joy to my heart to know that Legend of Korra is actually getting made, and will be out within my reasonable lifetime.

Also book 4 seriously? I did feel like the series ended before it was done, but never expected they'd get a chance to Babylon 5 an extra season out of that show.

edit: dear lord, I'm fangirling. It's only avatar that brings this out in me, I swear.

Creating flame is a BASIC Firebending skill. Not an Advanced one.

And didn't Zuko do pretty much that when he warmed his hands? just on a lower scale?

I don't think you can cram an entire season into 1 movie, and they shouldn't have tried. The unfortunate thing though, is that there is going to be a movie about season 2

The real world has seen a considerably larger tech boost in a similar period of time recently. Judging by real world tech progress and the Fire Nation tanks and freezer units, it actually wouldn't be unreasonable for them to be experimenting with primitive space flight after 70 years.

I'm apprehensive about season 4. On one hand, it might be a way to finally try to make up for season 3. On the other hand, they might not learn anything from season 3 and produce another disappointing season (remember how after season 2 of Heroes the creators admitted they goofed things up and would learn from their mistakes? That didn't really happen). Given that the last "revival" I got really excited about was Power Rangers Samurai, and given how much of a disappointment that has been so far, I think I'll deliberately keep my expectations low for Avatar's next season.

To be quite honest, though, Suki was really never that important to the story.

Ya and after they start they're going to have to finish which means a third movie and you can't pack the epicness of book three into one movie. It can't be done

The last couple of episodes alone could be a movie. Although since it's so damn awesome it would be scaled back to fit budgets *grumble grumble*

And it's not the fact that Suki was a Plot Point, it was that she was Character Development for Sokka and a tie into the surrounding world for the entire gaang.
