Re: My Little Pony XVIII: Perfect Isn't Easy
My guess is that Pinkie's grandma is the one who only joined because her spouse made her. She's the odd one who who only doesn't follow the new rules by heart and reverts sometimes to old habits and laughs and smlies, equivalent to the earth hippie mom who insists that the children get potty training instead of letting them decide themselves.
I noticed that in my quote were only 3 sentences.
Now I think of cherry. yummy.
And there's hardly anything good left.

Re: My Little Pony XVIII: Perfect Isn't Easy
Equestrian Pony Physiology:
A Primer For Humans
Written By: Midnight and The Great and Powerful Trixie
When first observing the brightly colored ponies of Equestria for the first time, humans might be tempted to compare them to the so-called 'ponies' of their own Earth, in terms of physiology and biology, that ponies of Equestria share the intricate systems of organs, bones, blood and muscle that Earth mammalians have.
This could not be further from the truth. For, you see, Equestrian Ponies are brightly colored for a reason: They are made of candy.
The vast majority of the inside of an Equestrian Pony torso is filled with a thick, sweet substance that resembles pudding. As such, they have few discernible organs, and no bones, or circulatory/nervous systems. The fluid nature of their torso, as well as the absence of delicate, easily-damageable systems, allows for impacts at high velocity without permanent damage to them.
This nature also explains the Equestrian Pony diet of plants and sweets. It is the sugars and starches (which are converted into sugars) that are digested and converted into more 'pudding'. As such, the sweeter the food, the healthier it is for an Equestrian Pony.
An Equestrian Pony's legs are comprised of a different material than their torso, made of a highly dense but slightly spongy material that is akin to a very strong marshmellow. This explains how an Equestrian Pony's hoof can be strong enough to buck trees, yet react to water as it does. Earth Pony legs tend to be far stronger than their Pegasus or Unicorn equivalents.
Furthermore, the 'pelt' of an Equestrian Pony is not made of skin and hair as an Earth Pony is, but rather a high-strength, high-elasticity, opaque 'gummi' substance, that is far tougher than normal flesh. This both explains the bright colors of an Equestrian Pony, but also their increased resistance to damage: They tend to suffer no gashes/cuts, and have a tendency only to become 'scuffled' up from impact.
A Pegasuses wings are completely comprised of this gummi-like material, allowing their wings incredible strength far beyond their small size. Interestingly, this gummi material has a tendency to 'harden' under stimulus, causing the so-called 'Wing Boner' effect.
The closest equivalent to bone material is in the head of an Equestrian Pony, comprising the "skull" that protects the brain of an Equestrian Pony, one of the few discernible and distinct organs belonging to the race. However, this skull, comprised of a substance closely comparable to "hard candy" is far stronger than the Earth Pony equivalent, as an Equestrian Pony can take impacts equal to a full-sized blacksmiths anvil from the cloud level with only temporary stunning and damage. Incidentally, a Unicorn's horn is made of the same material, connected to the skull, and through the skull, to the Unicorn's brain. This is what allows them to channel the information and energy that are needed for magic. This direct connection to the brain also means that a Unicorn's horn tends to be incredibly sensitive to stimulus. So called 'horn-touching' between unicorns causes a feedback loop that increases this sensitivity, and causes the Unicorns to experience the sensations and emotions of their 'partner'.
In terms of reproduction, Equestrian Ponies do so much like Earth mammalians, but with certain differences that are not under the purview of this document.
We have written this document as a brief primer for humans, as Earth-Equestrian relations have grown in the past few months, and a few questions have popped up. We can only hope that this answers most of the 'basic' questions. For more information, consult your local Equestrian embassy.
SpoilerTrixie! Midnight! We have the portal open, are you two ready to upload this to Earth's "Internet"?
We're coming, dear! *snicker*
I'm sure they'll learn plenty from this! *barely controlled giggling*
You two...didn't write anything weird, did you?
Of course not! We know how serious this is! Don't you trust us?
Yeah, Momma! *attempted serious look*
Well...alright...Last edited by EsperDerek; 2011-07-31 at 06:13 PM.

Still happening. Still going to be awesome. DO IT.
Some of you might remember that I said I was going to be writing up the lessons I learned from writing my first fic. Well...
Here it is.
I'm not asking for a full-blown critique. But if some of the more experienced writers could take a look at this and see if I'm completely off the mark on some of my ideas, I'd appreciate it. I don't want to give people bad advice, after all.Last edited by TheAmishPirate; 2011-07-31 at 05:57 PM.

Re: My Little Pony XVIII: Perfect Isn't Easy
A sentence with less than three clauses is not a sentence at all. More is always more.
Because the more systematic you work the more likely it is that someone will misunderstand you the one time you leave open even the tiniest space for wrong interpretation.
Hay yeah I'll participate. Buck you, sleep.

Re: My Little Pony XVIII: Perfect Isn't Easy
But this still doesn't answer the most important question of all. Does Applejack taste like apples?
Also, this is amazing, although I seem to recall that not very long ago, we were arguing about the possibility of ponies being trees. Now, we won't be able to look at a pony without wondering what flavor it is.
One more thing, for some reason, spoiler tags kept screwing up with this quote. Don't know why."Why is it that we receive a penny for our thoughts, but have to put in our 2 cents?"

Re: My Little Pony XVIII: Perfect Isn't Easy
Welcome back! I know somepony else who used the same avatar so I had a moment of eye-crossed confusion there; it's a great picture.
Also, a couple of threads back, Thanquol (I think) did a fic thing called "The Old Stories". Does anyone have the link to it? I lost it when my computer went down.
I've been not submitting it to Equestria Daily because while it's good I don't think it's great.Last edited by Thanqol; 2011-07-31 at 06:43 PM.
