Praetus replies as even over the sounds of battle the booming projection of his voice still reverberates slightly in the hall as he slams into one of the enemy combatants, drawing his blade as he does so, adding to the cacophony of battle.

The corridor breaks out into carnage as the dim darkness and smoke fill with the hiss of las fire and the crack of autogun rounds. One of the guards topples backwards suddenly as his head explodes in a gigantic gout of blood - the assassin claiming another life as the man's eye socket stared emptily at the now blood splattered ceiling.

The man in front of him looked back for a second at his companions body twitching on the floor- distracting him for a second as Praetus and Liliatas both charge him. The man's arm cracking he uses it block Praetus and duck under the crazy gorilla like woman's hacking. He jabs back with his bayoneted lasgun - the spear like point honed to a mono edge as he goes for the hulking guardswoman.

Even as they fought desperately the heavy booming chatter of the spectre ramped up spraying fire at the cluster of 2 men surrounding the stunned officer. 2 of them grunted but the heavy flak armour saved them from the worst of the fire. Fire was the right word sadly however as with a vast roar the priest unleashed the holy fire of the emperor's word. Screaming erupted from within the vast sheet of flame that left Praetus and Liliatas near out of breath from the surging heat. From maybe a distance of 3m they saw the officer and his two assistants literally melt in front of him. Flesh runing like wax and skin sloughing off its a horrific sight

Lilitas grits her teeth, pushing both the screams and her own pain from her mind. Clearly, she's been away from the battlefield for far, far too long if something like that is even registering.

She renews her assault, lashing out at the guardsman with her whirring chainsword. Somebody is far too cocky, she thinks, just because he managed to nick her. Well, her blade is going to do far more than nick him when she finally manages to get a hit in.

Praetus quickly recovers from the sight of men burned alive, memories of criminals sent before the Golden Throne following their confessions briefly springing to mind. He redoubles his efforts at gutting the enemy combatant in front of him.

"Go! Visit the wrath of the Emperor upon those who turn from his unblinking gaze! Teach them the error of their ways and offer them only the forgiveness of the blade and round!"

Hopefully impressing the Master of Whispers the acolytes display a certain element of brutality that would stun most guardsman. And certainly stuns the half dozen heavily armoured enforcers that are just now unstrapping themselves from the heavy crash webbing in the shark boat and unlimbering their assault shotguns.

Markus and Lor lay down heavy fire. One of the two retreating men snapping back, body twitching as a hail of fire slams into his face and shoulders in a gout of blood. The other has mere seconds to watch his friend's demise before he crumples bonelessly to the ground as a bullet from Lor's rifle tears through his head.

The lone man in the melee turns ti run from the crazy swinging chainsword wielding guardswoman and is too slow to react to the chain dagger that drives into his clavicle and tears out his major arteries as he drops coughing up blood and reaching out for help before slipping into a permanent sleep.

The corridor descends into an uneasy silence. The hiss and bubble of the burning bodies against soft drip of congealing blood.

"Come to think of it though, I did skip breakfast..."

He then stands, waiting for Praetus' or Holt's orders. No point in showing too much initiative, that would get you shot.

Meanwhile, aboard the Sin of Pride...

Captain Kuchenko had irritated the Watch Commander of the Death Watch earlier, but, damn, he didn't care: those genetic freaks were the only individuals on the ship, Gabriel Mandalkan being a possible exception, that could be trusted not to be fragging traitors.

So, he visitsthe Watch Commander, hoping to make a request of him.

"Lord Commander," he says to the superhuman Angel of Death, respectful as he should be, yet lacking the quasi-religious terror most mortals would have.

"I hope my armsmen were able to assist your esteemed brotherhood during your battles earlier."

True, they hadn't engaged directly, but, strategically they had probably provided valuable assistance. Of course, Lord Casimir Kuchenko doesn't expect the Watch Commander to consider this worthy of notice.

"I come to you, believing that the Emperor's own Angels of Death are the only certifiably trustworthy individuals upon the Sin of Pride," he begins.

"There is a plague of heresy, including xenophilia, tech-heresy and worse, upon this vessel. Of course, I can trust no-one, so I come to you to request assistance in gathering intelligence, of all things..."

Most interesting. He has come to a group of eight-foot tall ubermensch in order to get them to gather information?!

Lor slid up, reloading his rifle as he moved. Glancing at the ill looks on the faces of some of the others, he simply grinned, moving forward to check for any security camera's that were watching the hall. Using his las pistol, he would 'disable' any that were operational. Afterwards, he check and make sure all the targets were dead. The officer would probably have a security card, but staring at the bubbling mess that used to be the lead Brontian, it was unlikely that anything had survived. Glancing back at the Confessor with the hug fething flamer, he'd shake his head, muttering, "Fuggin' zealots ..."

Stepping forward, Gabriel 'holstered' his flamer, waiting for the others to step out. He moved to stand with the senior officers, nodding towards the Master of Whispers. He swiched over to the Rogue Trader's cant developed by the previous Captain, for private discussions in the presense of others. "Your agents performed admirably, if somewhat hasty. However, the Emperor favors the bold and the righteous - they are a credit to your efforts." Glancing over, he noticed the blank look on Victris' young face. Sighing, he realized the Engineseer must not have learned the cant previously.

In normal tongue, he spoke, "We must determine why this once loyal group has turned from the Emperor - barring that, we must destroy them to a man. Master Holt, what is your recommendation at this time?"

As the last blood choked breath of the guardsman wheezes out at Lor's feet the assassin pauses. He can hear the alarms ringing in the background and the sounds of doors and bulkheads banging but no threat imminent.

Flickering lights and then with a sharp crack a defunct security pict recorder leave the corridor shrouded in flickering smoky half darkness and a brief respite. The enforcer waiting for orders from Holt or Gabriel. A couple of them smiling and nodding at Praetus impressed by the brutal treatment of the 1st security patrol.

Lor wandered over to Praetus. "Sounds like a lock-down. If we're gonna carve our way through, we'll be needing them bulkhead cutters up front.

Or, if someone has a map, we might find a way around ..."

Lor looked around for a security panel he might be able to work on ... something he could turn off the alarms.

"Meh, eat enough tunnel rat an' you learn not to be put off your food by much," Markus says - suprisingly less taciturn than usual - as he reloads his assault gun. That done, he advances down the corridor to find a position in cover where he can defend the acolytes' perimeter.

"Secure the perimeter, and get ready to move out. Lor, if you're going to mess with the alarms, go ahead."


Master Holt

"Enforcers! Standard boarding protocols, secure the landing craft and prepare to move out! Enginseer Victris, would it be possible for you to acess the habitat's systems from here?"

So do we have a map of the habitat, or at least a basic layout?

The enforcers nod to the Master of Whispers as they take up positions around the Shark landing craft. A glance a data pad that one of his research staff aboard the Sin supplied him with shows Holt the rough layout of the small research station.

A pair of concentric circles with rough barracks and storage on the outer ring. A set of 6 "spokes" linking the outer ring to the inner ring where the Magos Priests and Mechanicus servitors work and research on whatever mysterious things Morwen VI holds and the central hub holds the command centre, defensive weapon controls, the fusion generator and the garage with the surface explorers.

As Markus, Praetus and Lor scatter out forming a perimeter all 3 can hear the clatter of feet and shouts of a defensive force getting closer...

As Lor slipped his laspistol to the spot behind his back, his eyes caught sight of a small panel on the wall. Smiling, he stopped and moved closer, signaling his find to Praetus. Since the cell leader had already given the green light, Lor slipped out a small keycard that had served him well in some of his earlier days.

"Let's see what this little bugger connects to ...

Alrighty ... let's see if the ol' multikey can hook a brutha up.

The multikey cracks open the security panel before Lor starts hooking into the security network. The camera panel is still active despite the damage to the pict recorder still smoking from the las shot. Although he cannot access the full network or any other systems he still manage to control the cameras in the outer low security ring. The Magos binary codes blocking out his attempts to penetrate the inner ring of hab blocks.

As he scans the cameras that flicker on and off throughout the barracks and hab ring he can see a full combat response team for ~15 Brontioans running towards them led by a sabre wielding officer and with a re-robed tech priest stomping along them behind them. Lor estimtaes they have about 20 seconds before they fight, flee or hide...

[Starbin]

Lor gave a low whistle. "Hey, P, we've got incoming. Fifteen grunts, an officer and a tech priest are enroute ... 20 seconds out. Anyone bring any party favors?"

Lor glanced back at the group, wondering if they had anything akin to meltabombs or at least frag grenades to jury-rig a 'welcome gift.'

"The sarge is normally good for a couple, check with her." Praetus replies to the assassin.


Master Holt

"Hmmm... according to this layout, we will need to head further inward in order to reach the control center. Shutting off the defensive weaponry would facilitate an assault by the remainder of the ship's forces. Additionally, gaining control of the command center, or at least rendering it inoperative, would likely throw the enemy into disarray." Holt offers to the other two senior crew members as he consults the map.

Lorenzo too, takes cover. No point in playing around with grenades and improvised explosives with only a twenty second time frame.

Gabriel nodded at Holt's assessment. "We must endeavor to strike at both the head and heart of these traitors. Controlling the command center will shift the balance of information in our favor, and allow you and Victris to learn more about what these bastards have been doing."

Lor watched as the responding forces came. With no one moving forward to set up any explosive 'greetings' for the incoming troops, he finally shrugged. Hailing the acolytes, he spoke in cant. "P, might I suggest you let the enforcers move up to cover the doors? Let's let them have first crack at incoming fire ..."

Grinning, he readied his rifle and waited for the officer to come through the doors ...

THe first hint is the glimmer of torchlight and the shouts of a strong voice "For the Omnissah" and a surge of bayonets as the first ~6 Brontians come charging around the sharp metal corner ~20m distant down the darkened corridor

Taking quick aim, Lor fired off two shots at the last two figures (assuming he didn't identifty an officer amongst the group.

Bianco too hears the cry of 'for the Omnissiah'. Of course, he quickly runs through multiple possible scenarios, and comes to the conclusion that their foes are not heretics, but are dupes of a greater evil.

Strangely, he rationalises away the problem that they have to kill these puppets rather quickly, probably helped by his general dislike of the Machine Cult.

He aims as these thoughts rush through his head, and takes a shot...

A host of shots and heavy fire rings out as the 6 guardsmen of the first wave race around the corner lasguns up and bayonets fixed.

Praetus and Bianco fired quickly, the arbite's shot going wide of the mark and Bianco's slaming solidly into one of the men's flak jackets. Even a they fired Markus cut loose with a tremendous roar. The spectre bucking in his hands as he showered the advancing guards with rounds. Fired at knee height they wre brutally effective as two of the men went down, one screaming at his shattered knee cap clearly in shock and the other dying as the rounds walked up to his thigh and crotch severing his artery.

Even as those two fell there was faint crack crack as the predatory Lor fired. The first round skiffing off a helmet with enough force to leave a hefty bruise, the second round slamming straight into a man's open mouth blowing his brains out the back of his helmet.

THe remaining 3 guys went to ground. A cry of Taking fire. Bring up second squad. We need supporting fire" as the las bolts began to flash down the corridor at the acolytes ducking behding cover.
