Also, you're lucky. I can't seem to find anywhere to learn Japanese formally, and it's pretty much the only foreign language that I would actually be interested enough in to take the time to learn.

The only place around here (Minnesota) that I could find was a near $45k/year school. I got mono my first spring, had to wait a year to take Japanese 102, so I fell WAY behind. KANJI is probably the most difficult thing ever. I got meningitis my second spring, the school kicked me out and denied my medically-supported appeals. Anyway, all for the better because had I stayed there, I wouldn't be where I am now, and I would be in a LOOOOT of debt. I still have my text books, but no one around here speaks it, so I don't get any conversational practice anymore. I've been meaning to start practicing again. Now all I do with it is watch fansubs with a bit more ease, and wow 4-year-olds by writing their names in katakana. :[

The flight to Del Mare took Soarin just a hair over three hours. It was warmer than when Soarin had left Ponyville, a consequence of travelling hundreds of miles to the south in a few hours.
-A bit of repetition here: You mention three hours, then a few hours. You may be fine just leaving it at “travelling hundreds of miles to the south.”, but it’s your call.

The brown furred being stood on its hind legs like a monkey and its front (top?) legs ended in hands that looked like those of the dragons, only without their claws.

Gathering some of his magical energy, he created a burst of blue light right in the eyes of the dragon on the left.
-To a new reader, this will be slightly jarring. This is the first time we see pegasus magic, and it looks a lot like unicorn magic here, to be honest. Either include a brief explanation of pegasus magic, or make it more weather-related. Like maybe he puts a small pocket in the winds, throwing one of the dragons off-balance.

Eyup, I have ADHD and noticed long ago that caffeine affects me differently. It makes it a bit easier to focus and makes me feel less nervous. It makes sense, Ritalin is a stimulant and that's what they had me on for most of my school years.

What do you all think of it?
The Fluttershy looks especially fitting, though I'm not sure the proportions and such would work so well for just any pony. Twilight Sparkle comes out alright, but just because of the haircut, I feel.

Quicksand is a common hazard for swamps. You could make some creature that can move across quicksand while it drags/lures its prey into it.
