Re: Werewolf Central VIII: Important WW information goes here - READ OPENING POSTS!
How would I go about hosting a game?
I'm very familiar with Mafia-esque scum hunting games and I have some ideas I would like to throw together. Is there a procedure or a turn-taking rotation of hosts or am I allowed to host sign-ups as I see fit?

Re: Werewolf Central VIII: Important WW information goes here - READ OPENING POSTS!
Waiting on approval.
I submitted several possible ideas for flavor in the post itself but my original intent is to run a Magic: The Gathering flavor game.
It would ideally involve 24 people but I could pair it down. Any less than 19 and I believe it would suffer though.
I'm all about high-power. I never go above a number of vanillas equal to the number of scum. I think players have more fun when they have roles so I try to accommodate while still balancing. If you're looking for something a litter crazier I hope you'll sign up. Should be quite fun with a full 24.

We usually use 'wolf' here. Some people don't like 'scum'.
Or at least they didn't back when we had more people playing.SpoilerWhat kind of paranoid mind sees that as something else. ~ The Narrator, during Stranded in Space.

They're interchangeable.
If people are that overly sensitive I'll probably leave honestly.

No. But if people are overly sensitive over the negative connotations of the most common term for the enemy faction of the game I can't imagine the game would go very well.

A term is a term it really shouldn't matter who uses what form of it everyone knows what it is meant to indicate, it is never a view of someones personal thoughts of another, so why treat it as such?

Agreed. It's important that a community understands that. These types of games can get very heated and if people start taking things personally it doesn't work.

Re: Werewolf Central VIII: Important WW information goes here - READ OPENING POSTS!
Truth be told we (this named poster) don't care for using the word scum, it is more of a negative, but really it's is all a mental view.
if one sees it as a defamation of character then they would be more likely to see it as worse then it is.
if one sees it as a role in a game then it is less annoying.
to extend it to a metaphor of being a socialist and someone calling you communist to your face:
if you see it as a hit on your person then you could be offended, but if you see it as a point to educate then you might just say "well actually they differ by" and possibly have a good conversation with someone (depending on if they are open to such a conversation).
that bit could be changed to fit any scenario really; atheist/sadist, Pansexual or Asexual with "your just gay", being a multiple with "your crazy"
other things that don't pop to mind readily like political things that don't matter in the grand scale of things.
Use the word don't use the word, is doesn't really matter. If your goal is to keep from causing fights then it's all good. A neutral standpoint of 'whatever' will always be here to call upon.We love plural first person personal pronouns.

For my game I'll be using the term Praetor anyway. It's a moot point.

With all that glob in the way, forgot to say 'looking forward to a new take on the game' or some such like that.
Always fun to see a new narrative and a new narrator/player at that, so . . . Hi, hope you will have fun here.We love plural first person personal pronouns.

Re: Werewolf Central VIII: Important WW information goes here - READ OPENING POSTS!
I personally don't like the term scum, because of the negative connotations. I find the terms villain, mafia, or werewolf to be much less inflammatory.
Though I never suspect someone is calling me personally scum, if they are accusing me of being a "scum" role. I just see it as being a bit more vicious when making accusations than calling someone a specific role or the previously mentioned alternatives.
It's just a preference I ask people to respect when they are playing my games. In your game, do as you like.

Usually a day or two. Depends on what Alarra and Zeb the Troll are doing at the moment.
EDIT: Haven't seen them around in a while, actually.

Wait for a day or two, if it doesn't appear a friendly PM is probably ok. It's what I did for my latest game.

Woohoo! I've been watching the board for weeks waiting for someone to post a new game. I do apologize for disappearing from all my games a couple months ago though. Hope there aren't any hard feelings.

@Thufir: Fae WW II is currently going, as is Witchunt VI. USB 6 died a long time back. Meta appears to be on hiatus. City of Spires II, Medieval II, and MLP II are all over.
Other than that, I don't know about any of the others in the list on the front page, though I suspect that most of them have wrapped up by now.Last edited by Lady Serpentine; 2012-12-20 at 04:01 AM.

I think Meta is done save for the end narration and wrap-up given some of the stuff Ramsus asked for. Hopefully blade has some time soon so we can find out what happened in the thrilling conclusion. I'm pretty sure I know what happened but not what all of it meant.

I will be gone from late the 25th to late the 29th. My marching band is going on a long, arduous journey to accompany the football team to the bowl game. I don't really care to go, but the way the team ended the season, we may not get the chance again any time soon.

Let the away notices begin?
I will have minimal computer access from the 27th through the 30th, with those two days being the least likely of the four for me to manage to get on.The BareFoot Programmer

MTG is up to 18 out of 24 signatures for an ideal game. I'd like to kick it off after New Years but I'd also really like 6 more signatures. Don't be intimidated by the nature of the game, it'll be a blast I promise. Tell your friends to sign-up.
