Despair doesn't seem too startled when the door collapses. He actually is startled, but his ancient nerves aren't too good at quick, sudden responses. He can respond well with predetermined actions, but ambushes and such are usually not well-responded to.

In any case, the Revenant attempts to walk in first. Not to be rude, but because he knows that, of everyone in the group, he is most likely to survive a trap or surprise attack.

Jeremy is super effective!
And Shawna smiles happily at him, returning the kiss as her own arms go to wrap around him. holding him close.
"You are welcome...but it was the only thing I could do. I could not let my love run off to a strange world on his own," she says with a soft smile.

Jeremy can't help but chuckle. "Strange? After all we've been through, this is probably the singular most normal place we've seen. Including the zombies." He tells her with a slight smile.

Then why exactly was Karyana afraid that her parents would treat her sister the same way that they treated her, meaning that they would allow her to be dragged off and tortured as she was?

"I cannot understand why anyone would want to remain in an oppressive regime such as this one. Maybe the people here have been conditioned to accept all of this, but when does the buck stop? These people which rule here are tyrants. Calling their idol a god is an insult to the other gods which reign."

"If there's no safety hazard here and she wishes to stay, so be it. I was concerned only for her safety. Since she's perfectly alright, there's no reason to persuade her to forsake this place. It's not my duty nor my right to convince her do anything that is not essential to the preservation of the health of her mind, body, or spirit."

Juppy replies, somewhat irked by the fact that she is here even though there is no imminent danger to rescue Karyana's sister from...unless she's just supposed to be here for moral support, but that wouldn't explain why Karyana and Tlannae aren't talking while Juppy silently waits in the background.

Actually, wasn't the idea to come get Tlannae Juppy's?

Tlannae sighs, looking annoyed.

"I never said I really wanted to stay. I'm just asking for reasons to leave other than having magic, which, for some reason, you seem reluctant to provide."

She sounds rather annoyed, too.

Jeremy can't help but chuckle. "Strange? After all we've been through, this is probably the singular most normal place we've seen. Including the zombies." He tells her with a slight smile.

"...you know, I think I will have to admit that you are right." Shawna chuckles as well, blushing slightly, and tucks her head under Jeremy's chin with a pleased-sounding sigh. "But, strange or not, I do not think I would wish to be apart from you for any longer than ever might be necessary."

Yes. This was one of Juppy's suggestions.

"I guess it proves I'm fallible! I'm only human you know!"

Shh! You're not supposed to read the text!

"If you want to know about the Nexus..."

"I can't help you. I don't understand it well myself. I doubt anyone understands the Nexus. It is a mishmash of every different world, plane, and realm that has ever existed or will ever exist. The streets turn from cobblestone to hard light to dirt depending on where you are in town. The people there range from cave people to space marines. There are dinosaurs, dragons, humans, gnomes, dwarves, trolls, halflings, and members from each and every race present in the Nexus. Time doesn't work right. Seasons often don't work right. Physics never work right, and if they do, that probably means that there is a mad scientist in the vicinity trying to figure out how to turn physics inside-out again. The city was occupied by zombies not long ago. Before that, there were lovecraftian horrors. Before that, there were aliens. The list goes on. I've probably left out other critical events as well, but I'm a psychiatrist, not a physician. Most people are nice. Others want your soul. If the things want your soul, it is normal to kill them dead on the spot if you can. There's way too much to do in the Nexus. I honestly can't cover everything."

"Hm... It sounds interesting. I suppose I can at least come for a visit, provided I can return if I don't like it there. "

Something about the place appeals to her; partly the danger, partly the chance to met new people, and, of course, some of it is being around her sister again.

And then, there's the call of the future, where she's already arrived...

"Good."

Juppy sighs. That was no mean feat! Maybe she should have requested more information from Karyana about her sis before diving headfirst into this shallow pool.

"That's one task complete. Now to escort Tlannae to the portal leading back to the Nexus where your friend will hopefully kindly receive her. After that, we go speak with your parents and finish this trip off."

Almost there!

It likely would have been wise, yes.

Tlannae frowns at Karyana, looking worried.


"Talk to our parents? That might not be the best idea, l'toka... They're not going to exactly be pleased to see you, and I'm pretty sure that the house-priest won't either."

[Harin's Universe]

"Because, if your time travel doesn't work, you have no right to exist in the present.

Though, fortunately, either the effects of that are apparently harmless or it does."

The two of them appear to have landed in a normal enough house, save that, if the view from the window is any indication, it's carved into the face of a cliff.

Rahona blinks and looks around, eyes wide with curiosity.

"That was quick, is this ya home or is it just the equivalent place ta our position in the Nexus?"

She will try to walk around and study the interior of the room, determined to get the most out of visiting a new universe.

"Oh, and A dun think it woulda mattered, Ya universe should just see me as from another one, shouldn' it?"

The walls are ornately carved, with designs reminiscent of swirling mist, which seem, though it's hard to tell for sure, to be glowing faintly.

Other than that, it's fairly normal, with comfortable looking chairs, a nice couch, and a large bed that looks much like a ship, with wooden sides going up to the ceiling, a door in the left side, and a carved fog-spirit at the foot of it.

Though there is one other oddity; a room which can apparently only gotten into or out of through a hole roughly the size of a human finger.

"This is my house, yes. And I'm not certain how it sees you, exactly, hence the caution."

Rahona nods.

"That sounds logical, sorry if A'm a bit reckless"

She smiles embarrassedly and looks off.

"ya wanna see if it works? It won't cause ya world ta implode if A try ta send something through time, will it?"

She seems a bit more cautious now.

Harin shrugs.

"It's fine. And no, my world shouldn't implode from sending something through time.

Explode, on the other hand..., he teases, grinning at her.

"Maybe you could call them over a telephone? If that doesn't work, and keep in mind that violence isn't the answer when I say this, Karyana, I could temporarily render the priest incapable of moving around much."

"..."

"The priest is a dude, right?"

Juppy puts forth.

She is totally going to kick the priest in the groin area and lock him in some broom closet or something if her patient selects the latter option. Sometimes discourse alone won't get the job done. A different type of force must then be applied, in such cases. This is one of those cases. Clearly. >.<

Locking him in one of the cells might be a better option. They're considerably harder to break out of than the broom closets, though, admittedly, all of those are secure enough to contain most prisoners anyway, having much the same locks as Tlannae's room, but controlled only from the outside.


"Phones could be unworkable, yes, since last time I checked they had none here...

And the priest is in fact male, or they'd be a priestess."

"Just double checking."

Because Juppy wants to ensure that the technique she'll be employing against the priest will be super-effective!

"We'll additionally want to clear out the path we'll be taking during our retreat. I'm not saying that things will turn sour, but if they do, we should be prepared, if you want to go through with that plan, that is."

Karyana nods, looking thoughtful.

"'Probably best, yeah... Any ideas on how to make sure it stays cleared?"


Remind me why they're talking to her parents?

Karyana and Juppy were going to speak with Karyana's parents so that Karyana could sort her feelings on what they allowed their religious leaders to inflict on their own daughter. This would, hypothetically, clear up her issues with that stage of her life allowing her to move on with her life without being weighed down by it any longer!

"We should keep it simple. We could setup props against some doors to keep them shut and barricade the rest of the others."

Zombie survival tactics are perfect in any situation (or so Juppy believes).

"Sounds good. Let's get started," the vampire says, grinning, and going to grab a large wardrobe.

"Right, then."

Juppy grabs a chair! Barricading hopefully happens! If it does, then the chances that no mindless zombies servants will be able to eat their brains intrude on the conversation or retreat might increase a few percentage points!

Barricading does, in fact, occur! And the chances of being interrupted indeed decrease.

"Right... Time to go find the priest, I suppose... What exactly are we planning to do with him once we do?"

"I was thinking that I could walk up to him, kick him in the groin, and then lock him in a broom closet or something."

Juppy smiles! The pacifist hypocrite!

"I wouldn't be doing it if I were trying to console him, though, especially if I were trying to safeguard him against a bad dream or memory."

Karyana grins.

"Sounds good. I might know some places a bit more secure than broom closets, too," she says, staring to head off down the hall.

Juppy grins like the Cheshire cat. She is, insanely enough, actually looking forward to this. She'd do anything to lend her patients a helping hand. She eagerly follows Karyana up the hallway.

"Oh really? What places are you thinking of, precisely?"

Karyana seems to be looking forward to it as well, at least the part immediately before them, though not necessarily the bit after it.

"There are a few cells here, used for holding thieves and such until they can be removed from the manor."

[The Alexandrian]

"How much traffic do they see? If someone is in one of them right now, it'd be perfect to toss the priest into the cell beside the prisoner just to look observe his response."

Juppy chuckles. Her new plan does sound a tad mean and extreme, but it would be humorous and worthwhile. It would only be a little bit of payback taken on Karyana's behalf.

"Not too much. Besides, we wouldn't want to use an occupied one anyway - someone usually comes along pretty quickly to remove them, and I'm pretty sure finding him locked in there would sort of ruin our plans.

"Too bad."

Juppy sighs. She was looking forward to participating in some comic relief and light mischief.

"Where is this priest supposed to be, anyway?"

The distance to the cell might be a tiny problem if it is inordinately large.

"Through there," she says, stopping in front of a door. "It's probably best if you go in on your own, since I'm fairly recognizable, and him sounding an alarm is, obviously, undesirable.

Juppy doesn't enter the priest's room just yet. There is one point that requires clarification first.

"Am I to refer to him as Father or by some other title? I may need to speak to him to get close enough to him to kick him, so my knowledge of the customs of your people must not be blatantly incomplete."

"So far as I know, no title is required when addressing him."
