Re: [3.5] Ryclend Deephold
Droska canceled the invisibility spell. "I'm here to help you all! I'm not with the giants!" You see a large brown hairy spider that is standing just over 3-feet tall. She still continues her way to the giant that is still standing.
If all else fails, use force. If force doesn't work, you're not using enough.

Halad
A reflexive snarl crossed Halad's face when the spider revealed itself, but he checked fire when it announced it wasn't with the giants. Blood rushing in his ears, he let fly another three arrows at the remaining giant.
SpoilerYes, spiders count as a favored enemy...
Anyway, is the giant any easier to hit now?

Ferdinand
Ferdinand checks (his detect evil is still on) on the spider to see if it is evil.
After that he kneels and pushes some healing energy into Rhukesh.
I'm sorry, but this is all I can do for now. Ferdinand says sadly. While he spits another glob of blood on the ground.
Apparantly I'm hit harder than I expected. Three broken ribs, at minimum, at worst, a punctured lung.
Spoiler
He activates his lay on hands ability and gives Rukesh the full allotment for the day (10 hp).

Rd 6
Ferdinand checked the new arrival for any sign of evil. Sensing none, he moved to aid Rukesh, laying his hand on the wounded stonechild to heal the bruised and battered man somewhat.
Lay on Hands Cure 10
Roderick moved away from the inactive giant and over to heal Carn slightly.
Convert Aid to cast Close Wounds Cure 8
Carn returned to consciousness and drank a potion, curing more of his wounds. He then got to his feet and moved away from the giant, albeit still in great pain, as he pulled out his bow.
Drink CLW Potion Cure 5
Halad fired another trio of arrows, again missing with the second but sinking the first and third securely into his target.
20 hit 8 dmg
16 miss
21 hit 15 dmg
Rukesh was brought to consciousness and saw Ferdinand kneeling by his side. Looking around he saw the dwarf fighting the remaining giant and the strange spider woman.
Victor sent a twin blast of power at the giant, both eldritch rays struck hard and true, though all but ignored by the raging behemoth.
RTA 16 hit 16 dmg
RTA 19 hit 18 dmg
Droska ended her invisibility spell and spoke in friendly terms to the group as she approached closer.
The giant roared and attacked the dwarf with murderous barbaric rage. The first clumsy swing was easily dodged by the war wary dwarf. The swift second attack landed, as did the third, both causing considerable wounds to the stout priest.
24 miss
32 hit 26 dmg
29 hit 21 dmg
Drynch grunted at the wounds, the damage jarring his stout body and interrupting his dwarven war chant. He laughed maniacally and attacked with a growl. The first swing cut a deep gash across both upper thighs, opening arteries vital to survival. As the giant wobbled, blood pouring from the horrible wound, the dwarf leaped up and swung overhead to bury his axe deep within the torso and the dying giant. Cleaving right through the hip, Drynch stepped back to watch the large foe fall dead.
26 hit 29 dmg
33 hit 29 dmg = DEAD!
Looking around the aftermath of the battle he had been called to help finish, the dwarf grinned broadly as the blood froze on the icy blade of his axe. Tapping the rune carved axe blade once on a rock to clean off the frozen gore, he sheathed the weapon and said, “Well done all! I swear dem giants be aided by magic, way faster’n any I ever seen or heard of. Who be hurt da worst?”
He shrugged and went to check wounds...

Roderick gathered everyone who was wounded into range and cast a spell that would slowly heal much of their wounds.
Cast Lesser Vigor (I just included all who are wounded) Heal 1
Drynch
With a nod to Roderick, the dwarf tromped over to Carn, "Aye lad, I'm Drynch, war priest o'Clangeddin Silverbeard, da Father of Battle. But I can tend ta wounds after a fight."
He cast a spell that created a rich brown aura surrounding one hand, which he gently laid on the human to cure some of Carn's wounds.

Re: [3.5] Ryclend Deephold
Droska keeps a respectful distance. "I'm sorry, but I won't be of much help with divine healing, but perhaps my music can help the healers you already have. My name is Droska." That said, the spider pulls a harp out of her bag and runs her fingers over the strings. You notice that at the end of each of her legs, there is a hand with 5 long, skinny fingers.
If all else fails, use force. If force doesn't work, you're not using enough.

Rukesh opens his eyes to see Ferdinand. "Thank you." he says as he gets up.
To Drynch, he says "Drynch! Am I glad to see you! How did you get here so quickly?"
Rukesh eyes the spider warily - he wasn't fond of spiders, and here this one was, talking to them no less!

Re: [3.5] Ryclend Deephold
Ferdinand
You're welcome, I would hate to see someone that helped us get killed. I was lucky to help you. And now I'm extra happy since I did not use my powers selfishly. Anyway, if you are okay I will look in at the others. Hold strong, heal and rest. Everything will be allright. Ferdinand says while nodding to Rukesh. After that he stands up and starts cleaning his blade, first on the grass and after that on the clothing of the giant.
While cleaning his blade he made some sigils and puts another Vampiric Touch in his weapon. He would hope that it would come in as handy as the other one.
I do feel bad for using this spell, even though it has helped me immensely in the past. The powers of this spell are dark, and only my connection to the light keep me safe. He thinks without saying it out loud.“Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!

Re: [3.5] Ryclend Deephold
OOC
SpoilerI ticked off 4 rounds for those counting for spells in effect...
DM
Some introductions were made as the dwarf checked each of the wounded and how the human priest's spell was progressing.
Droska pulled out her instrument and spoke further.
Ferdinand restored the spell in his sword as he cleaned it.
Roderick detected no evil.
Victor found more than one source of magic on the giants. Each wore an enchanted ring, and though their clubs were crude weapons, the handle of each held a small crystal that contained great magic. One wore a magic brooch and the other a magic amulet, each on simple leather string around their neck. One had an arcane scroll in its bag, and further searching revealed thousands of gold pieces in the bag each carried.
Drynch
The dwarf grinned at Rukesh and nodded with a wink, then looked over the spider with a raised eyebrow and suspicious growl, "Exactly what race are ye, Droska? Never met a talkin' spider I liked, but ye seem... different, somehow."
When Victor and Roderick brought up the wraith, the dwarf grunted, "A spellcastin' wraith ye say? Show me where did ye last detected it."

"The wraith? I never saw it. It was near the gate to the south, but it left the fight early. Dunno what they do, but the bits on the necklaces and the rings are magical. Also, the shards on the clubs have a trace of power," spoke Victor as he indicated each item in turn. "I think what we should do is head into the dungeon and clear a spot inside. We can argue over who gets what back at the inn. Anyway, the day is still young and I'd like to keep going."Last edited by Vauron; 2012-03-21 at 09:51 PM.

Droska replied, "Greetings Drynch. I am a Dalnoy. We usually live deep within the forest, greatly separating ourselves from the world. We are peace loving and love music. However, I wanted to see more of the outside world. By the way, I was running toward the giants, hoping to bite one. My bite puts some beings to sleep, instead of killing them."

Re: [3.5] Ryclend Deephold
Ferdinand
Ferdinand has put his blade in it's scabbard.
I did see it, and tried to hit it, both failed sadly. About the stuff, does anyone knows how to identify things? If not, I have heared about a little trinket that could do something like that. For the other things, I think it would be a good thing to pile everything together and put it in something like a bag of holding, or if we do not have that the more conventional backpack. The dividing of the stuff can be done in the inn. Couldn't we use the keys to make a gate to our rooms, that means we could at least sleep safe, or maybe put the stuff there and than come out?
Ferdinand grabs the key that hangs on his neck. When no one complains he will try to unlock the small gate to at least put the stuff they collected into his room. He puts the key in the air and turns it.“Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!

Wait, Ferdinand, our new found colleagues may not have keys or be able to use this type of transportation. If they can follow us, we can return to the tavern, if not, we need to fortify a safe haven near here.
I think we cold find a place nearby to secure, maybe in the beginnings of the tunnels, but out here may be better suited to keep away some of the denizens.Run like you mean it boys & girls,

Re: [3.5] Ryclend Deephold
"If my understanding is correct, we have to get inside Deephold first before the keys will work." Rukesh says. "We can get the magic items identified in town, I'm sure, though probably for a fee. If we could pool some funds to get a gadget that will do it for us, that would probably work in the long run. I think as far as splitting loot is concerned, saving it all in one spot and splitting it up back at the inn is the best idea."
To the spider, Rukesh says. "You'll have to forgive my skepticism, Droska - is it?. All my experiences with spiders your size have been very negative, though I admit, none have ever talked to me before. Perhaps the different between a spider and a Dalnoy, eh? My name is Rukesh."

"Yes, unless we'd rather stand around here and wait for that wraith to cast another spell at us," Halad said, still facing the rubble pile where it had disappered.
