Pathfinder's Hut

Waterstrider looks at Small-Father, not understanding the words. Instead, he knows the meaning behind them through tone and scent. He was afraid, not of Waterstrider, but of Female-Cub/Little-Flower. The scent of Fear was mixed with Concern/Protectiveness, marking it as different. As an answer, the Wolfen nuzzles gently against Female-Cub/Little-Flower.

"I know you'd never hurt her," Brand says. His fear is more that something will hurt both of them at the same time. But he suspects that the hut is more than simply a shelter, and has some protective function as well. "Be safe, my friend. I'll be back with food and help."

The Wolfen seems to understand and settles in around Female-Cub/Little-Flower, finally falling into a light sleep, dreaming of Mother-Soon.

"THAT DOESN'T SEEM VERY POLITE." the ghoul responds with a frown. Evil people were always attacking things around here. Couldn't they just deal with their issues in a healthy manner, like writing lists, playing soothing music, or playing games to relieve stress like normal people?

Silly evil people.

"Evil usually isn't polite." The young man shrugs. "Oh, I'm sorry, ma'am, I didn't catch your name?"

"I'll give them a call when I know they'll be up, then."

Timeskip

Abigail, by now, will have made the call, and be waiting to tell Jamie the results!

Jamie will be waiting too!

"Well, on the plus side, Nanoha'll be happy to teach you, and Mary'd be happy to make you a Device.

On the minus, as I thought, they're both too busy to come here, and the equipment to make a Device- especially around unusual magic abilities like yours- can't easily be transported, anyway."

[The Bushranger]

"Sooo, we'd have to go there, then?" Jamie asks, looking both dissapointed and excited!

[horngeek]

"Mmmm. It's actually a pretty interesting place.

All the technology there runs exclusively off magic."

[The Bushranger]

"So, they're technomages, then?" Jamie asks, remembering the stories of the Technomage Order she's heard.

[horngeek]

"Somewhat? I'm not sure what a Technomage is... but even those that don't have the capacity to cast spells themselves still use magic-based technology. It's considered a lot safer than any other method...

In any case, we should probably ask your parents for permission, since this'll involve travelling to another universe."

[The Bushranger]

"We travel to another universe all the time," Jamie points out, reasonably...

...wait, is that the slightest hint of a pout?

"Something you're worried about?"

[The Bushranger]

"I just want to be able to decide where I go for myself," Jamie admits.

[horngeek]

"Nothing's forcing you to get a Device. In this case, if I knew of a way for them to come here, I'd take that option, but... sometimes, circumstances make that impossible. Sorry."

[The Bushranger]

"Oh, that's not the problem, I just don't like having to ask permission," Jamie says with a sigh.

("I'm popping over to the next universe, but I'll be back for tea!" )

[horngeek]

"Ah. Okay, I see your point."

[The Bushranger]

Jamie nods, poking idly at her glass on the table.
And looking bored!

[horngeek]

"Still, at least tell them, or they might worry."

[The Bushranger]

"I guess you're right..."
Jamie still pouts though!

[horngeek]

"You don't want them to worry, do you?"

[The Bushranger]

"Well, of course not!" Jamie declares!

As her player goes to sleep.

"Then at least, tell them. Head off tomorrow?"

Andy enters the Main Cabin. He looks around to find someone he might ask what happened here since there aren't much people left.

"Evil usually isn't polite." The young man shrugs. "Oh, I'm sorry, ma'am, I didn't catch your name?"

"OH!"

The ghoul suddenly realizes that she never said it! Of course, it's not completely her fault - she hasn't really been using a name for a while, and didn't really have a reason to use the one that nice man at the bar gave her until now.

"I THINK IT'S ANNABELLE. THAT'S WHAT WAS DECIDED ON, AT LEAST."

Pathfinder's Hut >> Infirmary >> Main Kitchen >> Pathfinder's Hut >> etc

Brand returns to the infirmary to tell Renetta and his wife that Waterstrider and Lily are in the hut in the forest and seem okay, and that he's going to take them some food. Waterstrider still needs a healer that doesn't use magic, but Brand's player is too tired for that part.

Next stop, the kitchen, to pack up a day's worth of food for a wounded Wolfen and a growing halfling. Then back to the hut to deliver it. There's plenty of raw meat for Waterstrider and several impressive sandwiches for Lily.

And now back to his family and to deadtime.

"Yup! I know Decker. I don't think she likes me much, though."

Brinika's ears twitch. Why not? She seemed nice.

"I dunno. But she was always a bit mean to me." Misaki shrugs.

Awww. Brinika sounds a bit sad. It's not good when people are mean to each other! She decides to change the subject to something more cheerful. Do you like music? She asks every person she meets about this.

"Of course I do. Who doesn't like music?" Pet, pet, pet the deadtimed cat.

I dunno. Mean people, maybe. I love music. Caretaker plays songs for me. Wanna listen? The drone hovers over to the two girls, leaving his spot at the door now that the danger either has passed or was never actually there.
