Re: AvB - The adventures of Scribly
Spoiler
Yep. The 16 means you keep the silver mask when he tries to escape, but on your round you can -try- and break the grapple (both parties in a grapple can choose to try and hold on to it) and then charge (provoking an attack from the silver masked man as you are moving out of the threat area.)
And just to make things faster, rolling the grapple check from the silver masked man as he would try to keep you to protect the Golden masked one...

Re: AvB - The adventures of Scribly
Hearing Malakai outside triggers Scribly's instinct. The greater danger, must be taken out first! He releases the partly broken wizard and charges Malakai. Having learned from the previous teleporting trick, Scribly moves right next to him, hoping to catch him in his long reaching vines regardless.
He draws an AoO from the wizard, if he's armed.

Re: AvB - The adventures of Scribly
Spoiler
He is armed with that thinblade... so far though he has not managed to hit you...
Lets see now
(1d20)[6] - crit confirm (1d20)[11]
Whats your normal AC again?
Also remember I told you he wears armor... him being a wizard is your own assumption...
As you drop him to the ground he reacts instictively and slashes at you with his thinblade.
Regardless you charge down the sewer tunnel and the man in the Golden Mask turns to face you. You unfortunately do not manage to hit him as your tentacle is blocked by an unseen force.
Spoiler
Spellcraft DC 16 to realise he has Mage Armor and Shield cast on him... you dont come to a fight with someone that took out two senior operatives and forget to prepare yourself...
His companion picks up his wand but seems to be waiting for something.
The golden masked man laughs again in your face and ports 10 feet behind you, he then withdraws and stands next to his wand wielding ally and the other silver masked man that is now completely naked.Last edited by Monodominant; 2012-11-22 at 06:35 AM.

Re: AvB - The adventures of Scribly
The man in the silver mask seems incredibly surprised as he catches himself slowing undressing. Starting by taking of the mask.
Unfortunately the man in the golden mask has one last trick. Considering what his options are he goes for it. He moves his hands in a quick motion and speaks a power word.
A white light explodes between your two groups (at J15) and the magic energies in the area begin unravelling.
Spoiler
Spellcraft DC 18 to realise he just cast dispel magic.
So starting with their own enchantments rolling to see what gets dispelled and what gets suppressed from items.

Re: AvB - The adventures of Scribly
Spoiler
Okay... I had actually read area dispel wrong!
It doesnt affect magic items... so those all work.
For each creature inside the area it has the chance to affect one spell (and is discharged when that happens).
Given the spell level for all his spells and your spells is the same (ie all his were cast at 10th level and all yours at 8th) I will make it a random roll.
For his: 1 is the shield and 2 is the protection from fire (1d2)[2]
For you: 1 is the Metamorphosis and 2 is the Vigor (1d2)[1]
Lastly I forgot to roll to dispel the suggestions (the reason he did this in the first place instead of just targetted dispel on you!)
Completely undressed guy (1d20+7)[15]
Just affected guy (1d20+7)[17]

Re: AvB - The adventures of Scribly
As the white dispelling light fades you see that from their side little has changed.
The two men on which you cast suggestion are either undressing or standing still and the Golden masked man has no visible effects.
You on the other hand are left... on your natural form.AvB has come and gone. Its spirit still lives on in the few active threads...

Re: AvB - The adventures of Scribly

Yes, he is within AoO range but he didnt cast. Only took 5 foot step back. So you can still attack him.
I realised that his primary way of escape doesnt work with the items I have given him...
The golden mask steps a few feet back and draws a scroll from the folds of his robe. He opens it as if ready to read it but does not do so.Last edited by Monodominant; 2012-11-22 at 09:45 AM.

The moment your tentacle touches him, the golden masked man reads the scroll and you immidiatetly recognise the words to a teleport spell. Re: AvB - The adventures of Scribly
Spoiler
In case its not clear, he had held an action so he can cast his teleport when you touch him (ie it would take you with him with a will save if you were unwilling).
Unfortunately the enervation means he needs a caster level check to cast a spell of a level he can no longer cast...
And he failed that test.
Opposed Grapple (1d20+5)[14]
As your first blow hits him he tries to avoid being grappled but he fails. Your hustle brings him to your paralytic tentacles and he stays there completely paralysed.Last edited by Monodominant; 2012-11-22 at 10:59 AM.

Realising the window of opportunity, scribly moves his scissors like claw around the neck and pinches.

Re: AvB - The adventures of Scribly
SpoilerThat was truly amazing indeed. I realise the rebound was crucial, but so many other rolls were as well. I mean:
- the rebound
- the exhaust ray
- the hit
- the teleport
- the suggestions
It all worked out really well for Scribly!
Scribly just stands there, staring ahead of him, trying to realise what happened.
What the .... wow .... WOW!!!... but ...... quickly now! I need to hurry. ..... rats this isn't according to plan at all...... go gogogo.
Scribly quickly regains his normal form and goes to collect all belongings of the two standing men and Malakai, as well as his belongings that are still in his room.
SpoilerSo he should have two bags of holding with lot's of stuff and two dead bodies. He'll leave the tortured corpse here.
How far away is the kobold clan? As these guys will be standing here for almost another two hours, might as well get them some prisoners. And proof I didn't kill their shaman."Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one."

Re: AvB - The adventures of Scribly
Spoiler
The teleport especially as he would port you and himself back at their HQ where the other two similar looking people were + any additionals...
XP time!
You gain 4800 for Malakai
And an additional 1200 for the two helpers.
Lastly for the info from the interrogation you gain another 1000 story xp... and may I point out that had you kept Malakai alive you would have learned the whole story...
And a small fortune in items. Will post it tomorrow cause I left the excel with their stats at work.
You collect everything as the realisation kicks in. The two silver masks, now fully stripped are just standing there looking lost as you go about your business. You estimate that if the kobolds dont keep you, you will have enough time to go back to them and return here... how they will take your story and the evidence is another matter entirely.AvB has come and gone. Re: AvB - The adventures of Scribly
SpoilerYup, that's what I thought. I didn't want to take any chance though. I know when luck could be running out, and I wouldn't dare hope for more.
Woei level 9!! I'll need it. I believe War troll will be my most powerfull melee form. During combat I also realised I only have metamorphosis to deal damage.
Now that I've gotten into even more serious trouble, I need allies to survive. Or charge at Georgi tomorrow, while I still have the moment of surprise. But getting suicidal would be a bad idea.
I'll try with the kobolds. But using a different plan.
Scribly will transform into another grappler to deal tons of non lethal (knocking them out for 2 days at least) without killing them. Should we play that out or do you think it will work no doubt?"Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one."

SpoilerHmm, if I had only won earlier. Then I could have taken psionic revivify and raised the kobold shaman. Bringing him back to his miserable life.
I guess it's always easy talking looking back at the impossible.
As for the items. I'll be paying for the identify later and won't use them until then, so feel free to ident them right away.Last edited by Moranica; 2012-11-23 at 05:12 AM.

Re: AvB - The adventures of Scribly
Spoiler
About the two guys... if they had their gear I would have us run through it given that suggestion does not make you helpless and you are low on hp and power points... but as you have taken their stuff and will have little chance of harming you we can do the following...
Roll me 2 grapple checks for the guy you already wounded. That would represent catching him and would be enough crushing damage to drop him.
For the other guy... he is unwounded and also has all his 1st level spells intact so he really WOULD try to escape so we have to at least play that part...
sorry if I am being annoying ...

Re: AvB - The adventures of Scribly
You grab the already wounded green blood and crush him twice dropping him unconsious.
You approach the other man and launch your attack. Your first claw hits him on the shoulder and he cries in pain realising the danger he is in.
He jumps away from the second one but you already have him grappled securely even though he tries to break your grip.
Spoiler
Okay, 2 rounds of grappling should neutralise him.
So just rolling his 2 break checks (1d20+7)[19] and (1d20+7)[10] just beat those and this is done :D

As he tries to escape you lash out again and catch him in your claws. You pretty much crush the life out of him and he is also unconsious but unlike the other one, he is slowly bleeding to death.
Bleeding green that is.
