Does your viewpoint character know about the dangers of tempting fate? Also, tell me if I'm wrong, but if obsidian is indeed necessary for high-caliber spells such as the hard reset spell, doesn't that mean that the tower was completely unnecessary for the purpose of high caliber spells? Obsidian is nigh-indestructible, and even if it got left behind in the old world, that would leave a more obvious border where the cobblestone stopped and the obsidian began. Perhaps he should look down first for the power to fix the moon, not up.

Major Domochevsky,
This report pertains to the initial incident, circa 8-9th of Cresting Wave, 2296. It was noon, as the sun was near the apex of its arc. I had heard reports from both your scouts and my rail surveyors that there had been strange sightings. At first, I did not know where to look, but after the arrival of Brigadier-General Xenowrath, I was once again motivated to continue. We began to check specific sites that served as access to other dimensions. To our surprise, when we reached the subterranean stronghold that housed the gate to the End dimension, we began to feel frequent tremors and other seismic activity emanating from above us. We managed to dig our way out after some time, to find what looked like a deeply entrenched fortification.
We soon discovered that this site had been privy to some sort of alien invasion. There were turrets that shot volleys of deadly arrows continuously, as well as those that set the ground aflame in a roughly 7 meter by 7 meter area. However, these were mere trifles compared to the infernal device at the center of the compound. There was some sort of open gate or spawner, and once every minute a ghast would appear. Moreover, some of the turrets contained what looked like fire elementals, who appeared to be ground troops, keeping us from the turret structures. It took us several hours to destroy the majority of the machines, along with help from Recon Specialist Mario and Sagitus, Chief of Development.
As mentioned in a previous report, we have so far been unable to replicate the technology displayed at the site, despite several attempts. As I am sure you are aware, the majority of the colonists are in the midst of militarizing this world, building up arsenals and fortresses. I only hope that we can prepare in time for the next attack (whether or not another attack is imminent is not even a topic for debate, the lack of preparation for this kind of extended engagement has become blindingly obvious on every level).

perhaps it did get left behind, but then, this particular tower is clearly a different one from the original, and he simply hopes to repurpose it instead of building an entirely new one, entirely out of obsidian. Since he got kicked out of the college, he isn't the most knowledgeable on actual magic. All of his information, pretty much, comes from the books he found and the recipe book he himself made.

Right, as the battle previously showed, the artillery needed to be better in just about every regard. The ranging was incorrect, the design was flawed, and now due to a TNT shortage, we may not see deployment for a while yet.
Although there is a silver lining to this dark cloud, in that the battleship Samantha is ready for her maiden voyage. The battle shielding needs to be implemented, but is still under development.
Messuring in at 42 long, Her capabilities at the moment are as such
4 Victoria class cannons, capable of flinging a single piece of TNT
20-30 meters, on her flank arcs
1 Dominator class Cannon, capable of flinging two pieces of TNT around 50 meters, on her front ark.
4 quad-shot dispenser banks, and the arrows to stock them (in storage, to be deployed as Anti Infantry artillery, effective range of 8 meters, subject to height adjustments.)
2 MSFUs powered by 16 generators for Infantry support

I've been working on a few new trap techniques to counter those used by our enemies. I'll demonstrate them later. They should also come in handy in deploying the infantry corps in the future.

RESEARCH REPORT ON REMAINS FROM SECOND INVASION
I have completed an analysis of the battle site from our second altercation with the alien forces. They appear to be increasing their firepower and are showing more advanced tactics. The most recent attack was multipronged and there were additional bunker structures with weapons beyond what they had in the first invasion. We were aided greatly by the rain in this second battle, as the blaze infantry troops appear quite vulnerable to water damage.
Their basic structural layout appears to be a square with arrow turrets along the sides, flame turrets near the corners, blaze mobile infantry spawners at the corners, and ghast artillery spawners protected by obsidian in the center. I was able to determine the effective range of the sensors, they appear to detect human movement in a 3x8 meter rectangle in front of the sensor, so with the sensor located at the back of the turret this would be a 3x5 rectangle in front of the turret.
As I was beginning analysis of the battlefield I also discovered several bunkers away from their main battle fortifications. These bunkers were self contained with sensors and turrets on all sides and four infantry spawners inside. In addition to the arrow turrets these bunkers also contained web turrets, trapping the victim in the range of the arrow turrets and increasing their hit rate. Fortunately I still had on my battle armor and was able to escape the webs and break into the bunkers. The battle inside was brief but fierce with many blaze infantry in close dark fighting quarters, but I managed to destroy the infantry spawners and deactivate the sensors without destroying any critical components, so they can be reactivated at a later time for further analysis.
One additional interesting note about these bunkers is that they appear to have a replica of a chrono trigger on the top of them. Could this be an additional weapon for controlling the battle conditions or a clue as to how they are able to warp these structures and troops in?
I urge everyone to take steps to secure their homes and prepare to respond quickly to any more alien sightings. I will be providing a number of lasers and lappacks to the ministry for use in defense. At this point these seem to be the best option for breaking into the fortifications. I will also work on a replica of the alien defenses for training purposes.

Thank you for the report, Sagitus. I will write up another narrative intelligence report to send back to command forthwith. If you could put the lasers/lappacks in chests in the Ministry of Defense basement, that would be great. I am getting to work building supplementary Nano-Suits, so we can easily build up an emergency armory. I have also set up a waypoint in the basement, with the signature blocks:
N: Reinforced Stone
E: Stone Brick
W: Stone Brick
S: Reinforced Stone

Mining lasers and Lappacks have been delivered.
How about IC2 teleporter for entrance and egress? I know 2 way runecraft teleporters may be compromised by the attacking army, but with an IC teleporter we could hide the pads as well as the activation switch, and if need be once inside we can cut off power to disable it as well.
It is my belief that the invaders do not have the industrial technology we possess, since our quantum gear has been sufficient defense against what they have thrown at us so far, and we've seen no evidence of tesla coils or the like. That said, they do have technology beyond what we can recreate, and it would be dangerous to underestimate them.

I may be able to fix this. I have been doing several tests as to forcible relocations, successfully relocating several spiders to BlackPantsGuy's house (sorry). I may be able to fix up a hidden switch of sorts that would enable teleportation into the ministry. Also, I can set up a rig to teleport anyone who tries to steal the egg to a pit of lava, project-fiery-doom style. Zain?

No, no, it wouldn't get innocent bystanders. It would either chuck you in the lava if you tried to mine the egg, or if you tried to build anything next to it such as a piston (I can do either but not both).

Given that we've been up against blazes so far, does that seem useful? They seem to be resistant to heat, to say the least.
(Also, what would the teleportation rate be? They seem to come in numbers.)

I think trying to activate the Egg may be an idea, but I don't know if it will teleport before you're teleported.
Also drowning seems like a better idea.

Day 1: Lately, there have been more and more sightings of "Men in Quantum Suits". The Lieutenant Commander reported a suicide bomber that looked like he had Quantum Armour on. This encounter left him with a half-heart. I also saw one in my basement teleporting through the wall glitching out. Very strange.
Pray tell, we must not lose heart.

Where was this? These 'Men in Quantum Suits', could you tell whether or not they were affiliated with us? Where are the ghast/blaze spawners located.

Lieutenant Commanders Log:
It's been a while since I've updated this log, however as acting commander of this colony's navel forces, I feel I at least, should maintain a log to regulation length. Luckily for me Something of note has happened. The Navel Fortress, (although why it is called as such, it's merely a secured research facility.) Came under attack earlier today. given that we, as a colony lack both the hardware and charges for any sort of Aircraft or AAA response, I forcibly boarded the aircraft to obtain it's origin and purpose.
It seems this is a light class Airship, sporting a two cannons equivalent to our Dominator class, as well as Spawners for the previously encountered blaze and Ghasts, as well as a new Infantry type similar to the skeletons found at night.
The combat was quick but brutal, but I eventually competed my mission, it seems the ship was sent to asses this situation. I landed the ship at an Island near the Fortress, for Research and Development to examine.

For 1.0 We all boarded a Spelljammer piloted by Domo for a new world. Upon arriving, it seems an alien spacecraft followed us (or may have been there the whole time). Either way, We (the sever population) have been engaged in ground, and more recently Air combat with them.
Edit To add, I would like to request the deployment of the Samantha to the Fortress, to escort the downed Airship.

Mario Smith, reporting. Concerning the "Men in Quantum Suits" I would assume they are not associated with us in anyway because Only two people were on when these sightings happened. The other person was Xenowrath. I asked him and he said it wasn't him.
