Re: Three Goddesses - IC (Thread #2)
Dot
It was at moments like this that Dot deeply regretted not having her menagerie with her. Not because she particularly needed them, but because they would each have especially enjoyed the opportunity to tear a devil a new one. Instead she would simply have to fight devils with...deviltry.
Dot begins by targeting the furthest devil with magic designed to turn it into a slack-jawed imbecile. If it lost the power of thought, of speech, surely it would also lose the ability to use magic. She then ripped through a summoning in record time, bringing a massive skeletal form into a far corner of the room. On her immediate direction, it sends a green ray towards one of the devils.
Dot sends to her colleagues.
"The skeletal devil is a friend. Well, at the very least, a useful tool."
SpoilerStandard action - cast Feeblemind on the Devil farthest from our entrance to the room. Will DC 27 or Int and Cha are reduced to 1. CL check to beat its Spell Resistance: (1d20+23)[36]
Swift action - using a Major Esoterica use of Quickened on her Summon Monster VII to bring in a Bone Devil in whatever open space she can find in the room, as long as it doesn't block her colleagues from reaching the Barbed devils. She mentally instructs it to use Dimensional Anchor on a Barbed Devil. If Dot senses that the most distant devil made its save against the Feeblemind, she'll have the bone devil target him. Otherwise, it will be the next most distant.
Move action - pull out her rod of quicken from her pack.
Bone Devil - use Dimensional Anchor SLA. Touch attack: (1d20+14)[26]. Spell resistance check: (1d20+12)[17]
Bone Devil is more or less as standard but with HP 138."We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about what we pretend to be." Kurt Vonnegut

Re: Three Goddesses - IC (Thread #2)
The devil that Dot targets with the Feeblemind appears to resist the magical attack, as its countenance and stance do not change. Her dimensional anchor and the same spell from her summoned bone devil are more effective as two of the devils are now bathed in a greenish light, a sure sign that they can no longer teleport or whatever, away.

Re: Three Goddesses - IC (Thread #2)
Tallesin's complex attack series against the barbed devil leaves the beast completely befuddled. He manages 3 hits, but between the drain of CON, the vampiric effect, and ordinary damage is enough to finish the beast off. Of course, attacking a barbed devil is always a painful experience, and Tallesin takes damage from the porcupine like body.

Spoiler(1d20+27)[36] confirm & (2d8+17)[26] damage

SpoilerWill save, DC20

Re: Three Goddesses - IC (Thread #2)
SpoilerLil's summoning doesn't go off, that's why I didn't specify. Summon Monster IX takes a full round to cast, so she is summoning all round long.
For Atareth, she is immune to fear. In fact, any ally within 10' of her gets a +4 on all saves vs. fear-based attacks.
Atareth smiles and says, "Good set up, Sword!"
She then begins to God-Hammer the hell out of the devil.
Attack 1: (1d20+37)[38]
Damage 1: (1d8+18)[22]
Attack 2: (1d20+32)[39]
Damage 2: (1d8+18)[26]
Attack 3: (1d20+27)[29]
Damage 3: (1d8+18)[26]
Her deva nature and hammer overcome the devil's DR.
Because this devil is stunned, she'll make the other devil her dodge-buddy. (I almost forgot having to deal with dodge-buddies again. )
SpoilerEDIT: It looks like a good number, but Attack 1 failed because it was a natural '1'.Last edited by PSinger; 2012-05-06 at 01:36 AM.

SpoilerDebbie has a bit of a sore back this morning
Atarath has mixed success against her set up devil, and only manages one hit against the fiend. Even though her attacks did not hit, she still takes the damage from the barbed spikes of the devil.
Spoiler(3d8+18)[30]
She takes 30 points of damage from the barbs.

Taleira takes the hit and rolls with it, mitigating the damage a bit, though she's still hurt. A word and a gesture turn her blade's edge to a thin grey mist, and then she counterattacks with a series of vicious blows.

Re: Three Goddesses - IC (Thread #2)
Taleira's wraithstrike trick turns her into a formidable fighting machine and she solidly connects on 3 of her hits, striking vital areas on the barbed devil and finishing it off in one round. Of course, even her unmatched fighting skills are not enough to keep her from taking damage in return from the strikes.

Melinda quickly makes her way to the middle of the room and takes a moment to ascertain which door leads to their goal. Satisfied with the party's progress, she lays a spiteful curse that gives the devils a taste of their own medicine.

Re: Three Goddesses - IC (Thread #2)
The devil's attempt to freeze her in place splashes against Dot's protections and disappears without a ripple
At Dot's command, the invisible earth elemental lumbers forward to assist Atareth, abruptly becoming a very visible lump of earth as soon as it has done so.
Dot points to the un-dimension-locked surviving devil and issues a command to her own summoned bone devil. It sends a blast of light similar to the others at the barbed fiend.
The little mage smiled at the remaining devil. She spoke softly to it in Infernal.
"Well, you can either lay down on the ground and surrender right now, and risk your master's displeasure, or die in the next two seconds and face a century of oblivion and demotion in the armies of hell. Personally, I'm hoping you don't surrender, because I haven't seen our Deva here really exert herself. But it's your choice."
SpoilerThe devil's Hold Person has no effect on Dot thanks to Mind Blank.
Earth elemental's charge attack: (1d20+8)[12], which is +4 and to the devil's flatfooted AC if it cannot see invisible creatures. Damage: (1d6+7)[12].
If either of the two remaining devils is not yet dimension locked, the Bone Devil will attempt to do so: Ranged Touch: [roll]1d20[/roll+26[/roll] Spell Resistance: (1d20+12)[23]. If both of the surviving devils are dimension-locked, Dot will order the Bone Devil to attack the nearest one. Charge attack: (1d20+19)[33] Damage [roll]18+8[/roll], breaks a devil's damage reduction.
Dot bluff check: (1d20+28)[36] to convince the devil to surrender. She then prepares to cast Hesitate (PH2) on the devil's turn, if it does anything BUT surrender and lay down on the floor. Re: Three Goddesses - IC (Thread #2)
The earth elemental obviously still has some sand in his eyes as he attempts to attack the devil, as his fists miss the target totally. Even with his poor attack results, he still takes damage from the barbs.
Spoiler(1d8+6)[8]
The bone devil fires off its Dimensional Anchor at the remaining devil, and now it is bathed in the green light as well.
Dot attempts to convince the remaining devil to surrender, but appearantly the displeasure of Koric is more fearsome than demotion in the armies of Hell, and the devil refuses to give up.

SpoilerPosting for Lost, who is still crushed under the mountain of finals + one-day job + callbacks + ....
When I looked at hezrou, I saw that the stench would hurt us so ...
Lil finishes the circles she makes with the main end of the wand and dark energies swirl together up to the ceiling and takes shape as a Huge spider-like demon (bebilith). Lil tepes with it.
The bebilith on the ceiling poop-shoots a web at the non-stunned devil to try to ensnare it.
SpoilerRanged touch attack (1d20+11)[18]
Effect: An entangled creature can escape with a DC 24 Escape Artist check or burst the web with a DC 24 Strength check. The check DCs are Constitution-based. The web has 14 hit points and hardness 0. There is a 75% chance that the webbing will not burn if any sort of fire is applied to it (check each round).
Through the amulet Lil asks, "Melinda, do these flames hurt anyone touching the subject? or, is it only attacks? or, can you define who is good, such as anyone wearing the same casting of this spell? I want to heal Taleira with the wand."

Tallesin's attack is not nearly as successful this time around as his scimitar misses the target. The bad news is that this attack still causes him to be poked by the devils barbs.

Atareth changes style, but not tactics. She focuses much more on overall defense, but especially against her current opponent, and wails away with her hammer.

Re: Three Goddesses - IC (Thread #2)
Atareth's focus on defense costs her, and she is only able to score one hit against the devil. She is wearing it down for sure, but the barb damage is piling up on her as well.

She takes another 31 points from the spikes
