Alright, so, generally, I think some beards are pretty amazing, y'know, from a practical point of view. Like crazy Viking ones and stuff. Or really impressive muttonchops.

Speaking personally, I don't find beards attractive. I think they're kinda ... I dunno, gruff. I'm into elves, not dwarves. I can understand the attraction, but beards don't do it for me. (I would support my partner if he really wanted a beard, or if he wanted a beard and was unreasonably pressured by society not to have one. But since he's clean-shaven by choice, and there's no loss of respect that comes with choosing to shave facial hair in our society, it's all good!)

On feminism; I have noticed, in some groups, typically male-dominated ones, there is a beard worship thing going on. It's generally not too much in-your-face, but it can be a bit wearing, and I'd say even more so for naturally non-beardy men. Cracked.com is a good example. Men with beards are automatically assumed to be more manly and probably fight bears. Men with impressive facial hair are lauded, held as an example to all. It's often done in a very funny way and I suppose it's harmless enough, but it's a bit of a drag, especially paired with the constant "He achieved that feat doubtless due to owning massively large testicles". After a while, you're like "Sooooo, the more beard and the larger the testicles I have, the better a person I am? Fan-friggin-tastic." I know they don't mean it in a hurtful way, but it's part of the Big Strong Manly Men Are Great And Mighty And Powerful thing that does so much damage to women, men, transwomen, transmen, and probably every- and anyone else as well. No one ever says "I would never have had the sheer f***ing ovaries to stand up to the boss and then punch out that tiger like you just did!" ... Can we start that, as a thing?

Utopian Feminist Solution? Well, hopefully people will finally get the ovaries to say "You know what? Facial hair doesn't define being hardcore."

I was wondering about it the other day because of your stance on female body hair. In both cases, you don't object if it's a personal choice and would fight for somebody's right to shave/not shave, but you dislike the social expectations and stigma attached?

The middle one conjures very different mental images from the masculine form. YUWYO.

The last, I've seen around a fair amount. The only reason it lacks sticking power is because when you stop looking at it as a genderflip, it has zero cultural traction to keep it in peoples minds. Negative cultural traction, in fact.

I forgot to say THANK YOU! for your replies, including the on-going SF discussion and the explanations for the terrorist fistbump/jab. BTW, I think we should use "sis" more often, and some easy to say version of "sybling fist" would be nice.

On male facial hair: I'd love to have some kind of beard and moustach, but as I've said before (elsewhere at least) and probably will repeat, it itch too darn much!

In the name of Legabitp, I demand this be done.

Unfortunately my own artistic skills don't extend much beyond OoTS-style work but I'm pretty sure I could come up with a few scenes and what not as needed.

My skills in computer art is even less, and I wouldn't mind art being done in OoTS-style. (I was actually just going to upload text pieces.)

Related: the fitness and sports topic made me consider my characters use of various sports, and logic struck me: being MtF and on HRT wouldn't combine well with fitness competition, (female) bodybuilding, weight-lifting and/or similar, would it? I don't know if either (biologically) female or male bodies produce more testosterone when being very active, but I know that bust size decreases for ciswomen (at least partially due to body fat being consumed). So I assume a transwoman on HRT who exercises a lot, especially in order to build up muscles, would have less bust size than a transwoman who excercised far less. (Some cisfemale body-builders compensate with silicone implants, so I'd guess that could be an option.)

Would bodybuilding and the like negate HRT in other ways? Would therapists take issue with muscle-building while one being on HRT, seeing it as waste of the hormones?

Bodybuilding isn't exactly the most feminine pastime. Most officiating bodies would be leery letting a transperson in for a few reasons. (Off the top of my head, the fact that they still have structural elements of the other sex. And the fact that transgirls can skimp on their meds, while transguys can up their dosage.) And there's the part where most high-level athletes already add bonus androgens. The last one is the only one that would really be medically tricky, though. FtMs would probably have no reason not to. MtFs, even lacking a medical drawback to being body builders, probably wouldn't want big muscles making them more likely to be read as men.

I could use some advice on the damage control part.
I was going to call my sister-in-law today to try and catch her before she leaves work. I don't know what the conversation in the car was like after I left, it could have been anything from "dude your brother just basically said he's gay," to awkward silence to completely nothing to do with me.

Either way I feel like I should bring it up to her first, and possibly ask her advice about broaching it with my brother. She used to manage a hair salon, and is kind of a bio-queen herself, so she knows gay guys galore.

Do you think that's an appropriate way to handle it?

As for the other part, I need to lay off a lot of things that come in bottles. So yes. Hug hours please.

Yeah, I've seen some hentai (back in my earlier teens) and I can understand what sort of disturbing mental images it can conjure. Hentai usually just makes me wonder what anatomy classes in Japan are like, but the Pokemon ones I saw made me laugh because of all the Pokemon move references they made.

OHHH. I finally figured out what you meant by the acronym. Never seen it before, and I somehow didn't manage to connect your last comment to the acronym. Okay. (The irony here is that I frequently tell people "I'll tell you when you're older.")


To clarify, I was not intending to conjure disturbing mental images. When I posted, I was thinking of the other use of "balls deep", which is like "the act of doing any activity hardcore, all out, and as fully as possible". I usually don't tend to think of sexual innuendos first. Like last week when my dad showed us "History of the World, Part I", it took me a good fifteen seconds of intense thinking to figure out the joke "First Served, First Come" on the banner advertising an orgy. I usually get puns quickly, but sexual innuendos take some work.
