Cass just looks outside of the window and doesn't worry much about odd distortions. Once the sun looks high enough for it to be about six o'clock, she gets out of bed and stretches a little.

Cassidy's coping rather well for somebody who's trying to infiltrate a cult and has just experienced a dream in which the cult's deity poked around her head to find somebody she doesn't like so He can offer her revenge/justice/whatever.

Anyway, to make this IC, it seems to be nearly six now.

Yeah, I'm kinda surprised by that too. I think Cass is just trying to be rational about the whole thing.

Anyway, she goes to grab her trenchcoat before leaving her room and heading down to take a shower.

Water's already running by the time she reaches the bathroom in the basement. There should probably be some way of reaching the basement (and the shower, kitchen and meditation chamber) from the bedrooms so they don't have to cut through people praying. Oh well, I'll remember that for next time.

Cassidy probably looks a little out of place in her tanktop and jeans, not to mention her athletic build and tattoo-covered arms. She doesn't seem to pay that much mind as she goes down to the basement.

The water's running when Cassidy arrives, though not for very long.

Cassidy takes pretty short showers anyway, so that doesn't become a problem. She emerges fully dressed, hoping to get some breakfast before reporting to her first lesson.

Not my original intention, but never mind! It works.

There's a catgirl in the kitchen, who will smile at Cassidy and open a cupboard, revealing several brands of cereal. There's a fridge and a freezer in the room, as well; it's a chest freezer, but the fridge stands upright. The catgirl is about sixteen, maybe seventeen, and she's wearing long, loose robes emblazoned with a black two-tailed scorpion on a white background. Her eyes are green and she has black hair and fur on her ears and tail.

Cassidy doesn't really pay much attention to the catgirl, but she does give a nod. She looks at all the different kinds of cereals, and asks, "You got bowls anywhere?"

The catgirl smiles and nods, taking a bowl out from another cupboard. It's a white china bowl, and rather plain, though should Cassidy so choose there's others available. The catgirl then gestures to the cereals again, looking at Cassidy as she does so. She's trying to ask which cereal Cassidy wants so that she can make Cassidy's breakfast.

Cassidy doesn't recognize that the catgirl is going to pour the cereal for her, so wacky hijinks are sure to ensue. She takes a moment to decide before reaching for some boring 'ol raisin bran.

As soon as the catgirl knows which cereal Cassidy is reaching for, she'll take it down and pour some. If, however, she's not in time, she'll nod and push the bowl towards Cassidy so she has easier access to it before going to stand by the fridge. The least she can do is provide the milk. And do the washing up, of course.

Cassidy's not all too quick in the morning, so the catgirl's first to grab the cereal. Cass raises an eyebrow at that, but doesn't stop her from pouring the cereal.

The catgirl will pour the cereal and put it away again, grab a spoon and add milk, making sure it's OK first by smelling it. For some reason, whenever milk goes off in the house where I live (with my parents, who actually own it and occasionally threaten rent) it's always me it goes off on. When it's all done, she pushes the bowl to Cassidy, smiles and curtseys.

Cass takes the bowl and smiles back. She isn't used to not having to make her own breakfast, and that certainly shows. Still, she sits down wherever convenient and eats the cereal. She's pretty quick to eat.

The catgirl will continue smiling and wait somewhere she isn't immediately obvious until Cassidy has eaten. As for eating, there's a counter and five chairs to sit at.

Cassidy sits down at the counter to eat, keeping conscious of the time.

Well, the lesson is at 10, and Cassidy got up at 6, so there's a long time for Cassidy to do as she pleases.

Unfortunately, Cassidy can't think of something to occupy the next few hours, so I think we can safely timeskip to when she gets her book and heads for the lesson.

Defelent will arrive about five minutes early with a catgirl helping him carry some books. Cassidy may have beaten him there, however, depending on how bored she was.

Cassidy arrives in the altar room (I think) ten minutes early for the lesson, carrying the book she was given.

It's the Meditation Room, actually. "Oh, hello Twig. I wasn't expecting you so early. Um, could you lend a hand, please? Just put these books down, and take one of those ones with the blue cover. And, just to check, you can read, can't you?" The ones with the blue covers are quite simple Common-Abyssal field guides, with a translation for the letters used in Abyssal as well.

"Not a problem." Cassidy moves to help with the books, taking one of the blue-covered ones to read herself. "Yeah, I can read. Wouldn't get far if I couldn't"

"Not necessarily. There's several groups around and about that can't read despite the fact that they are smart enough to learn such things. Usually it's something to do with the culture they had before they entered the Nexus. In some cases, they can't read because the knowledge is lost on their world or hasn't been invented yet. They still get on quite well with others, though usually they find others that can't read and form a community somewhere." It won't take too long before all the books are down. "You can keep that blue book- it's now yours." And now the language lesson is ready to begin! It'll be about an hour, though if Cassidy gets especially enthused it'll last longer, and if she gets especially frustrated it'll be ended sooner.

"Very different in the slums. It's not as necessary to read as it was about ten years ago, but it's still better to be able to." Cassidy nods when Defelent tells her that the blue book's hers.

She isn't particularly adept to learning the new language, though that might be because Abyssal is so different from English. She does seem a little interested in learning about it, though.

Then it's possible that the lesson may overrun slightly. Afterwards, Defelent and the catgirl will pack away the books, stacking them in piles which the catgirl will run back upstairs, helped by another she fetched during the lesson.

"Now, it's time for meditation. Have you ever meditated before?" I don't actually know much of meditation, so much of the lesson will again be handwaved.

"No, can't say I have." Cassidy is the first to admit that she's never been all that interested in meditation. But she'll learn about it nonetheless.

He'll start by suggesting Cassidy clear her mind, control her breathing and all that stuff which is so often tossed around in situations like this. As I said, I know nothing of meditation.

I know nothing about meditation as well, so I imagine the lesson can be skipped with Cassidy having made some progress.

"If ever you need help meditating, let me know. And always let me or Omid when you meet him know if you plan on using one of the sensory deprivation tanks- they can be dangerous. Would you like me to show you how one works?" It does involve the lockers and the separate changing area, however.
