Alt-Cessie glances at Harvil's arm curiously, "Are you sure you're just an adventurer? What's your last name Harnel?" She asks gently while placing her hand on his. It feels very warm to touch.

Adventure

"Ah, a fair maiden." Correl observes as the knight get a closer look at the woman in the tree. She/he sheets her/his sword and walks up to them. "You need any assistance my lady? We don't have much time I'm afraid, we're tracking a band of murderous thugs at the moment."

"Well I'm also an intermediate tango dancer and a gentleman." Harnel says with a smirk and a wink.

"But my full name is Harnel Caleb Therishein." He explains.

[Shadowcaller]

"How delightful." Alt-Cessie replies with a smile. "So who were your parents? Your last name sounds noble." She asks while warping her arm around his.

[Reinholdt]

[Harvil's Cave]

Harvil grins as the arm entwines his, a fluttery, floating feeling rising in him.

"Well my father, Bastion Therishein, was high nobility roughly until he met my mother, Avarizenaylas Therishein. She's the dragon side of my heritage." Harnel explains, as he starts leading the way to BDD.

"So you're a noble as well as being a half-dragon?" She asks with a raised eyebrow. "I must say I'm perplexed why a person such as yourself live in a cave then. I don't want to pry though if it's something you rather not talk about but the nexus must be quite different from Hestopia."

Forest Outside Inside

There's a skeleton in the next tree over, a few scraps of flesh clinging to its dry bones though much of it has rotted off. A few bones are missing; either carried off by scavengers or adorning the forest floor below.

The Skin-Changer Vampire, meanwhile, follows; not as gracefully, admittedly. She's using sheer brute force to make the leap, combined with a slight supernatural speed bonus. But she's soon across the gap and in the same tree as Kitty.

Kitty scurries away from the corpse when she sees it, shooting off in another direction. Just as the vampire lands in the tree, she throws herself toward another. This time, however, she overshoots the branch and will land on the ground a ways away instead. She's going to keep running as quickly as she can away from the vampire if she's able to.

The vampire merely jumps to the floor, not even trying for the tree. She's slightly faster on the ground, anyway, and runs after the fox. She's slightly faster than the average Olympic runner, though foxes may be faster. But the vampire's undead, and won't tire.

Kitty won't be slowing soon at least. To avoid capture, a few more balls of foxfire are tossed backward and she swerves around trees. The kitsune has a good sense of direction, so she's headed back toward the wagon, and the sun.

One of the balls of foxfire hits the vampire in the leg, causing her to stumble and fall over. Once she's up, though, she'll change her shape and dive into the ground as a massive, pallid worm-like thing with lots of small human arms to aid in digging. She's much slower like this, and has to avoid the roots, but the ground protects her from the sun and from sight. Kitty might be able to hear her burrowing, though.

Kitty's pace slows when she gets on the road. She doesn't really know that it's safer in the sun, but there's something comforting about being able to see properly at least. Not to mention that the vampire is out of sight now.

She won't be stopping yet, though. And if she hears the borrowing, she'll pick up speed again. She won't be going off the road again, and is headed unwittingly in the direction of Inside.

The sunlight was a good idea, though Kitty doesn't know it. If she passes underneath anything particularly dark, or if night falls before she reaches the paved roads of the city, she might be attacked. Though until then she will be unharmed.

Well, I think that they probably aren't too far out of the city, and the path probably remains light mostly. So looks like she escapes the clutches of the creepy, skinless vampire lady!

Then Kitty manages to escape the Skin-Stealer Vampire. Which is forced to wait until somebody makes a camp in her territory so she can kill them and take their skin. Still, she can patrol up and down her length of road until somebody comes along at night, and follow those that don't till they do bed down to rest, unless they reach the city first, where her activities can't be hidden making it impossible to safely dwell within until she has a skin.

Sadei glances back and forth between all the gathered big peoples before stepping forward a bit. "Umm... We should hurry no matter what we do. There's no telling how long the man's daughter will have."

She speaks the truth!

Who knows what those knaves might be doing as they sit and dawdle?

No dawdling!

"She's right, we should make haste. Sir Correl, this may sound strange, but I think the safest place for this young lady would be to follow us. Alone she would be at risk of the bandits, with us she has the safety of numbers and your sword." Alfred turns to the lady. "If you would have us as company, miss."

The woman blushes profusely at the fair maiden remark.Sonnya considers it and decides that she might as well do something useful while she was unemployed. Er...You mean? Help you? This girl has been kidnapped? I'll help you...I'm Sonnya...who are you? She steps out behind the conjured tree and walks into the group a little closer. Hi?

A caravan lies broken on the ground. Pieces are strewn around. Marciano appears with Rot and Grantaire. ...Blech....wha's tha' smell? The air smells of rotting flesh. A half eaten corpse lies on the caravan. It's fulled of maggots.

Adventure!

"I think you are correct Alfred, we should escort the lady home if there are brigands around." She/he tells the boy before turning to Sonnya. "Salutations fair Sonnya, I am Sir Correl the wanderer, seeking a cure for the curse that have befallen me." She/he makes and not-so-elegant bow as the armor now too large almost causes the knight to fall forward.

Trying to pretend that just didn't happen Correl instead turns around and gestures towards the other two, "These are those who accompany me during this quest, young lady Sadei and brave Alfred."

Rot smiles, showing off his teeth once more. He seems quite pleased with the scene and the smell.

"The sweet perfume of death. Isn't it wonderful?"

The vampire steps forward to loot the corpse. Of maggots. He'll (try to) take a handful of the fly larva and stuff em in one of his pockets. I don't know why.

...Tha'...tha's nasty. Marciano had robbed his fair amount of corpses and has dug up graves for loot...but really? Grabbing the maggots?! He walks over to Rot. ...Um...Ok. Mines tha' way bug boy...

"Said the pot to the kettle."

Rot rolls his eyes at Marciano. The vampire then turns in the direction of the mine and starts stalking toward it.

The mine is dark....and smells of blood. Marciano puts on a hard hat. A flashlight is strapped to it. Grantaire wears his own. Oy? Rotty? C'n you see in th' dark?

"Of course. I'm a creature of the night."

Rot smirks. He can see perfectly fine, and enjoys the scent of blood. The vampire keeps an eye out for trouble. It's also worth mentioning that Rot employs bat-like echolocation to see in the dark cave even better.

Marciano just stares at the vampire. He then walks inside the mine. It is dark, and webs cover the ceiling. We 'ad a spider infestation 'ere...still 'aven't go' the really big one...It appears aroun' 'ere...

"I'm not afraid of spiders. Such mortal fears are beneath me. Besides, their venom cannot harm me."

Well, that's not entirely true. Nerve-effecting toxins don't bother him, of course, but tissue-dissolving venom would still work.

"Come."

Rot continues walking down through the mine, unafraid. His flowing cape doesn't seem to be getting dirty at all.

An odd green liquid drips from the walls. It's a highly acdic substance. Marciano studies a drop that fell on the floor. ...Oh...not good...Wha' th' 'ell is this doin' ou' 'ere?

Rot looks at the drop as well, and frowns.

"I was hoping this was going to stay simple. But I suppose nothing is easy. Okay, explain the acid."

The vampire turns his gaze up toward the ceiling and walls, to watch out for any acid that might be headed his way.
