3D artist taking requests! (Currently full!)
Hey folks. 3D dude here. I graduated with a certificate in 3D animation back in February. Sadly, well, I haven't gotten a job in 3D work yet. It's all gotten me down to the point where I rarely even open Maya anymore.
...That's where you come in! I figure, if I take requests, I get to help some people who need art and get myself to get off my lazy bum and do some work!
Some guidelines I guess:
1) The more complicated something is, the longer it'll take. You know, common sense.
3) I'd appreciate if you would supply some references, please! I can't make something if I have no idea what it looks like. o_o
2) The more/better reference images I get, the more accurate the result will be.
OH! And for everyone's sake: THIS Is the type of reference art we prefer to work with in 3D. A character face-on, side shot, and back, if needed. Arms splayed out in either T-pose or A-Pose. Just generally allows for much better accuracy and polyflow. (Note: The example reference I provided just now isn't mine. Found it on google.)
Here's a gallery of some of my 3D work.
Some animations too, if you care to take a peek.
TL;DR: I need practice, you want art. I give.
Ah, so, after some friendly advice, I'm thinking I should bottleneck requests in order to actually get things done! Let's see...
Request status:
FULL!

Thanquol: Arcani
SurfingHalfOrc: Surfing Half-Orc
Lord Torath: Warbird ship

Re: 3D artist taking requests!
I use Maya. And thanks!
<_<;; Though I think I've definitely improved since many of those renders...
...Probably.
I'm not here to show off. I just think I need more practice. And probably more stuff to show off so I can make a real Demo Reel. >_>;Last edited by Mattarias, King.; 2013-08-23 at 02:42 AM.

Re: 3D artist taking requests!
Ooh, ooh, do me!
Seriously, please do me, as in do my avatar: Surfing HalfOrc. Any of the three, either surfer, mountain biker or road biker
Surfer: any surfboard (I rode a longboard back in the day)
Mountain Biker: I ride a Trek 9.9SSL hardtail, black with red and white trim
Road Biker: I ride a Focus Cayo 2.0, Red, white and black.
SHO doesn't wear a helmet, but I do. My sunglasses are Oakley Flak Jacket Livestrong edition. My Jerseys are either Primal Wear Dragon's L'air, or Arrogant Bastard Ale.
A mix of fantasy, and real world objects to toss into the mixer/render...
If you want to draw my helmet, I wear a Giro helmet, blue flames on a black base.
Currently my collarbone is broken, so I'm not able to get out there and ride. But it is mending nicely, so...Thanks to Ceika (X2), Yeril, Holammer and Dr. Bath for the Avatars!

Re: 3D artist taking requests!
Cool, good to know. Don't wanna step on any toes.
Saga characters? Can't say I know what you mean, so... I'm gonna need references. -Unless you mean Sega. In which case, uhhh... That's a lot. o_o And I'd be better off just posing some models from ingame..
Sure. Realistic or OoTS style? The latter is obviously much faster. :P

Sorry. I'm the GM for a group that plays Star Wars Saga Edition. I was asking if you were up to doing a 'group shot' image of their player characters. :)

Re: 3D artist taking requests!
If you're still taking requests, I would like to make one.
I (if you're not full of requests) would like to request my current avatar - he's a half-orc half-balor and I would be eternally grateful. Do it in a style you seem fit if you do take it up. I feel kinda odd asking for a 3D rendering, this is a first.

Re: 3D artist taking requests!
Oh! Uhm, sure! I just, you know... Need references. o_o This WILL take a while, have no illusions. Especially since it's a group shot.
Haha, I SHOULD close up requests for a while, so I can get everything done, shouldn't I..? Ah, well. I think I'll just do a page at a time. Should be manageable, right? (Famous last words...)
As for your request, sure! The half-balor part makes me excited. Any excuse to play with particles! (I love fire. )

Re: 3D artist taking requests!
I really do not mean to intrude on your generosity, but I've always thought it'd be extremely rad if I could get someone to do a render off've my persona (as seen in my avatar). If you want to, I can send you all the reference material in PM :>

Re: 3D artist taking requests!
Hey guys, update here. I've been working on everything I can when I'm able, since life seems to know EXACTLY when I want to do something cool, and then pile a list of other stuff on top of me that I need to do first. =_=
Since it SEEMS (don'tjixitdon'tjinxitdon'tjinxit...) that everything has settled down now, I'm back to working on your requests.
To answer the latest posts:
@Lord Torath: I DO make non-characters! They're in fact easier! o_o Usually fewer points of articulation, thus fewer things to mess up. I'll take a crack at it, sure!
@Kawaii Soldier: Haha, thanks. Again, sorry it's taking forever.
@Jaycemonde Why not, sure, send 'em over! Just be aware that it'll be a while, since I'm working on everyone else's stuff as well. o_o And characters take forever.

Re: 3D artist taking requests!
If you're doing requests.. There is a world build called project 6 on the forums. Would it be Ok to ask for a picture of each race?
EDIT: It is the thread started by Rasch, it doesn't have the title on it, but it has post apocalyptic setting in the title.
I am bad at describing things.Last edited by Sabeki; 2013-09-02 at 08:56 PM.

Re: 3D artist taking requests!
I hate to say it, but I think you may be biting off more than you can chew You've got a lot of people requesting stuffs... Maybe in your initial post you should make a list doing something like this (just example projects, don't take them seriously!):
Request status:
FULL!
To do:- Make Spiderman.
- Make ninja turtles.
In the making:- Making Batman.
- Making Darth Vader.
Finished projects:- Disney Princesses.
- My Little Pony.

If you still have slots, I'd like to get in line for a dragon character with equipment. (Have refs, but I'll have to go track them down)

Re: 3D artist taking requests!
Ah, you posted right as I put up the thing closing requests... I'll put you and other things I can't reasonably do soon into queue, if you don't mind. But dragon dudes are cool, so feel free to send references along.

(the actual wing design is obsolite for the character, but if you get the idea, this is a slightly more up to date version of the body- just add a belt-piercing and the stuff from the original design)
