    Maesyn suggests that someone go find Halish hoping the Mystra cleric has some information to help the group. He looks for a mechanism to rotate the platform but cannot find one.

    Savin asks Quill about the black orb and suggests they bar the doors. The accountant lecture the warrior and advises that the orb is left in peace for the moment.

    Rayen joins the group, wondering what the next step should be.

    Ryxikor keep searching for the mechanism but cannot find it.

    Savin mentions that the shadar-kia leader could have used the portal to escape. Quill mentions that he feels confident the shadar-kai used the platform. The gnome is also not a big fan of locking the door and proposes to check the northern door.

    Ryxikor decides to take his time to find the way to activate the mechanism.

    Axara listens to Masyn and leaves the great hall. She returns later and shakes her heard. “ Halish knows nothing. Him and the other dominated never went into the great hall. He had no idea a portal to the plane of Shadows was there. He has been keeping an eye but has not seen any activities out there. With both portcullis closed, we porbably won’t have to worry about people coming from the outside. Unless they decide to climb like Savin and Ryxikor did which is another issue. ”.

    Ryxikor took 20 on the search.


    After a while, a big smile returns on the rogue face. He found, well hidden under the stone skirt of the statue where the butts would have been, a lever. He is sure that the lever is what rotate the platform.

    Quill goes to inspect the northern door and finds it locked with no key around.

    While Ryx is searching for the mechanism for the platform and Axara goes to talk to Halish, Maesyn inspects the corpses, especially Ketsarra, to see if they have anything useful on them. Maybe a key.

    Maesyn goes to check the pile of dust that used to be Ketssara. He does not find a key but finds 4 javelins, an unknown potion, a heavy wooden magical shield (+1), 4 vials of an unknown liquid (not a potion), a magical spear (+1) and a silver dust (about 50GP worth).

    He also finds 5 short bows, 5 spiked chains, 5 MW studded leather armors, 84 arrows and 5 coins purses totaling 220 GP.

    He puts most of the equipment in a pile, keeping the potion, the four vials of liquid, and the silver dust in his haversack. (Not hiding this from anyone, just bringing them along in case we need them.)

    "Ryx, any chance you might be able to get us through that north door?" Maesyn asks, still with his slight lisp. "I just want to make sure nothing in there is going to come back to bite us before we chase off after the Shadar-kai."

    Stopping his activities and turning to Maesyn, Ryx answers with a nod, he gracefully hops off the platform and moves over to the north door. After listening closely, he checks for traps, if he finds anything he disarms it before continuing on. Once everything seems clear, Ryx checks to see if the door is open or locked, if it's locked, he gets out his supple brown leather pouch that contains his picks and tools. After selecting a couple of slender items from the pouch, he goes to work on the lock. If everything works out in his favor and nothing happens but the door being unlocked, Ryx turns the handle and barely pulls the door open, but then he lets go and backs up out of the way to let someone else do the honors of opening the door.

    Maesyn asks Ryxikor to check the locked iron door.

    The rogue, full of swag after finding howto activate the platform approaches the door and goes through his routine.

    He listens but hears nothing. He checks for traps but find none. He tries to open the lock but it is a hard one and when he just about to give up, he hears the familiar "click" of a conquered lock.

    He smiles and turns to the group, not wanting to be the first one to get in the room.

    When nothing happens the butterfly spreads her wings again.

    Rayen watches the group as they try to figure out the next move. Her skin is still raw from the half dragon using her breath attack on the shaman. She brushes at the patch on her neck with her fingers and winches when pain shoots through her head. Sighing, she turns to watch Maesyn sort through the loot from the dead. When she sees the shield, she moves over to it and turns it over with her foot. "Anyone mind if I take this?" If no one objects, she will put her current shield down and pick up the new one. Then she will move to join the rest of the group at the northern door.

    As Rayen takes the shield, Savin looks over at Maesyn as he coils his chain around is arm and unfurls his buckler.
    "Best give me the spear for now, too."

    Once he has the spear in hand, he nods to the gnome. "Fine, stay behind me for now." With that he warily steps through the door with his buckler up and the spear at the ready.

    Before anyone opens the door, Axara approaches Savin. “Wait a second Warrior. I don’t want to lose you. . She lifts her holy symbol and casts an incantation that heals Savin completely. Then she heals herself partially. Finally she approaches Rayen You did not think I forgot you, Sister? . She touches the dragon Shaman and heals Rayen completely.

    Quill tries to have his illusion behaves in a certain way but realizes the spell limitation. Thus he decides to let the beefy heroes go first.

    His job done Ryxikor offers gracefully to hold the rear of the party.

    Rayen picks up the shield that Ketssara used and is now ready to continue the exploration of the lost keep.

    Savin decides to sheath his trusted spiked chain and grabs Ketssara magical spear.

    He takes a deep breath, opens the door fully and enters the next room.

    The door opens to an octagonal room which is the ground floor of the short tower the group saw from outside the keep. A rickety spiral staircase in the center of the room leads upward though a jagged hole in the ceiling. Rubble is pile on the floor where the ceiling collapsed. An open dorrwat in one wall has let the swamp in; a tangle of sickly-looking vines spills through the doorway and covers that side of the room. The room only source of light is the moon light coming from the broken wall.

    Rayen notices as the same time as Savin two shadar-kais as they fire their arrows towards the warrior, preventing him from being flat footed. However, two arrows fire from the spiral staircase toward the mighty Savin. However, none of the arrows hit their target.

    Suddenly the heroes hear a terrifying and scary howl coming from inside the room. Ryxikor and Quill are not affected as they were not yet in the room. Savin and Axara just smile as they shake off the fear effect. At first, it looks like Maesyn is about to get panicked but the silver elf in lizardfolk form is able to shake the panic effect. On the other hand, Rayen is less lucky. She panics and flee away from the howl.

    Wanting to save her spells to heal her teammates, Axara approaches the first shadar-kai, pulls out her mace and hits him.

    Quill takes a side step and fire his wand of magic missiles, burning the shadar-kai Axara has started pummeling.

    That same shadar=kai, takes a step back, drop his bow and attacks Axara with his spiked chain, trying to trip her. He fails however to do so.

    The second shadar-kai fires at Savin but his arrow misses its target again.

    Arrows fly from the staircase toward Axara but both miss the cleric.

    Suddenly, invisible in all but the brightest light, a human sized hound with q smooth black coat and a monstrous, toothy visage appears and tries to bite Savin. It digs its jaw in the warrior leg.

    Not fully knowing what happens in the room the gnome knows these servants of Shar can see in the dark his side can not and so the decides to send the still active dancing lights into the northern room

    Savin, shocked to see the black dog appear before him, cries out in pain as the dog a bite out of his leg. He takes half a step back, favoring his wounded leg, as he readjusts his fighting stance.

    Rayen moves next to Axara and unleashes her acid breath. However the shadar-kai uses his amazing reflexes to avoid all of it. (<20%)

    Ryxikor moves into the room and tries to hide but there is nothing to hide being.

    Maesyn continues his counter song, making sure no one suffers the effect of the frightening howl.

    Savin takes a quick step and fires his spear at the damaged shadar-kai and impales him against the wall, sending it back to the shadow plane.

    Axara moves to the other side of the stairs, does not spot the source of the arrows so she continues to be able to attack the remaining shadar-kai next round.

    Quill moves the dancing lights inside the room but cannot fire his wand as he does not see his next enemy.

    Rayen sees the shadow mastiff and hits it with her breath weapon. However, the monster is fast enough to avoidhalf of the damages.

    Ryxikor sheathes his weapon and tries to spot the arches in the staircases but fail to do so.

    Maesyn continues singing, providing courage to his teammates.

    Savin swings his spiked chain back and forth and hit the shadow mastiff only once. The beast lets a out a howl of pain.

    Axara moves next to the shadar-kai and swings her mace. Her attempt is so bad, she nearly crushes her own feet.

    Quill makes a swift move and unleashes his wand of magic missiles, hitting the Shadar-kai.

    The last shadar-kai takes a step back and fires at Axara. His arrow flies high and misses the cleric.

    2 Arrows fly from the staircase toward Axara and both hit the cleric. She feels a poison trying to enter her blood stream but her strong constitution is able to resist it.

    Getting a little frustrated over the elusive archers, Ryxikor reaches back over his shoulder into the loose flap of his haversack, grabbing another object. With a quick flick of his wrist, he ignites one end and tosses it the short distance to the bottom of the staircase letting the smoke rise up and envelope the invisible assassins, until they can figure out something to do with them.
