Re: Cormyr - The Tearing of the Wave
Initiative: Axara, Ryxikor, Savin, enemies, (Action stopped there), Quill, Maesyn
Quill fires his wand of magic missiles at the scorpion facing Savin and burns it badly but not enough to send it back where it came from (HP <20%).
Maesyn does his final round of countersong, wishing the banelar would use a sound component spell.
Axara tries to hit the scorpion but her weapon hit the ground next to it, missing the beast by a lot.
Ryxikor moves south and shoot an arrow at the banelar. Even with the additional cover of being in the water, the elf shot strikes true. He tells Axara to get the lizardfolk in.
Axara yells Steersissk, come here with your friends to finish the evil that destroyed your tribe and your nest mates..
The group hears from the other side in draconic cloud too stinky and smelly. We waiting until cloud is gone.
Savin crushes the skull of the scorpion facing him, sending it back to its plane and move south closer to the banelar.
The banelar takes a 5 foot steps and touches the plainsman. Suddenly Savin feels sick and like a weakling.
SpoilerSavin: -18HP Permanent Currently 5/35 (cursed) (uncursed 23/53) + 12 Bear Endurance
The remaining fiendish medium scorpion attack Axara and is able to clip the cleric with one of its claws.

Re: Cormyr - The Tearing of the Wave
Ryx moves around Savin, not wanting to hit him, as he draws another arrow, to fire from a different vantage point, "Quit hiding in the water!" Ryx yells out. "If you feel your powerful enough, come out and face us, or are you as coward as their dead leader." the elf mocks.
"Axara, Maesyn, will poison have any effect on this thing?". Once the elf has a shot he lets another arrow fly.

Re: Cormyr - The Tearing of the Wave
Initiative: Axara, Ryxikor, Savin, lizardfolks, enemies, (Action stopped there), Quill, Maesyn
Quill moves the lights to lit the scorpion and dismisses the stinking cloud.
Maesyn once again, uses his magic creatively and summon two porpoises, placing them on each side of the banelar, flanking it. Each one slams the large snake like creature hard, bloodying it (HP < 50%).
Axara moves past the scorpion and avoids its attack of opportunity to be next to Savin to be able to heal him next round. (only 20 feet movement)
Ryxikor moves north and shoot an arrow at the banelar. Even with the additional cover of being in the water, the elf shot strikes true but the arrows does little damage.
Savin instead of pulling back yells his rage and decides to fight to the death. His courage is truly heroic. He attacks the banelar which his spiked chained but only the first swing hits the aberration, dealing significant damages. (HP<20%)
The 3 lizardfolks enters the room, holding the javelins they got from the undead lizardfolks killed earlier. Steersissk and the male are the only one with a chance of range attack even if the banelar has some cover. Both javelins fly high and miss their target.
The banelar takes a 5 foot steps, concentrate and heals itself.
The scorpion follows Axara and attacks her. It is able to clip the cleric with one of its claws.

Re: Cormyr - The Tearing of the Wave
Initiative: Axara, Ryxikor, Savin, lizardfolks, enemies, (Action stopped there), Quill, Maesyn
Quill moves the lights to lit the two enemies and fires his trusted wand which slightly burn the banelar, which the gnome affectionately calls Wormy..
Maesyn pierces the scorpion attacking Axara, bringing it to the edge of returning to its native plane. The two porpoises, moves to flank the aberration but cannot slam it.
Axara takes a 5 feet step to be next to Savin and use one of her last domain spell. She gives Savin temporary health and makes him more likely to hit.
SpoilerSavin: +15 Temporary HP (Aid 600 rounds) With Curse: 20 / 50 Without Curse and not aid 23/53. Not included + 12 Bear endurance

Ryxikor moves east and fires another arrow at the banelar. The arrow barely missed the snake like creature.
Savin takes a 5 feet step and crushed the body of the scorpion with his spiked chain, sending the creature back to where it came from.
The 3 lizardfolks position themselves to have a clean shot at the banelar but must content on firing in melee on a creature in water. Only the femal hit the monster true. She gloats See that Kruthaak! I amm too good to be your nest partner. You cannot even hit a little snake
The banelar hit one porpoise with his sting and send it back to its natural plane. It also concentrates and cast a spell, sending a color spray that immerge Axara. The cleric easily keeps her focus.
SpoilerNot a mistake. A banelar can cast a single spell a s a free action every round while attacking.

Re: Cormyr - The Tearing of the Wave
Initiative: Axara, Ryxikor, Savin, lizardfolks, enemies, (Action stopped there), Quill, Maesyn
Quill joins the discussion with the lizardfolks as he fires his wand of magic missiles. Kruthaak replies to the female lizardfolk Ghaan .. that was a lucky shot .. You know I am worthier that Steersissk. Steersissk replies Therre is more than just hitting snakes. Who is better as massaging mud on you scales? .
Maesyn decides to inspire courage to his friends to be stronger against fear and more accurate in their attacks and damages. The remaining porpoises tries to slam the aberration but fails to do so.
Without moving, Axara takes her crossbow, load it and fire. The bolt hit the monster who is now very bloodied (HP <20%).
Ryxikor moves 5 feet and and fires another arrow that does significant damages to the banelar. The monster looks on the brink.
Savin takes a 5 feet step and and fires a javelin. Even with the extra help given by the magic and his knowledge of aberration, he misses the snake like creature.
Ghann moves to be able to fire her javelin without problem. Steersissk and Kruthaak also throw their javelin. All 3 projectiles weapons miss their target.
The banelar realizes that it is a lost fight and decides to withdraw. He moves away from the porpoise. He passes by Axara who is holding a range weapon and thus not able to make an attack of opportunity. The last obstacle is Ghaan. As the banelar is about to escape, the lizardfolk female extends her claws and catch the banelar, thank to Maesyn inspiring discussion. The aberration drops it in the negative. Ghaan yells I am the best fighter than the two of you combined. You will not share my nest. Steersissk looks at Kruthaak We are not worthy.
SpoilerI am staying in combat mode because a banelar has fast healing and could become conscious again.
Axara looks at the unconscious banelar and notices a holy symbol of Cyric. This creature is a follower of Cyric. Why would they help the Sharrans?

Re: Cormyr - The Tearing of the Wave
Quill approaches the unconscious and bleeding banelar. He hits it with his shocking grasp wand.
A few second pass and Ryxikor noticed that a wound slightly healed. The elf pulls his trusted dagger, Organripper, and buries it deep into the heart of the aberration.
The group waits for a few seconds and realizes that the snake like creature is finally.
Axara breathes a sigh of relief. She slaps Ryxikor on the back "Well done elf. You seems quite good at finishing monsters." She looks at the rest of the group and pulls out the wand. "I will heal you some. We need to rest. This will allow me to ask the Lady of Mysteries to grant me the power to remove the curse on Savin."
She smiles at the plainsman "You are a true hero, Savin." She winks at him.
In the meantime, Steersissk and Khutaar and on their knees bowing at Ghaan. "We are not worthy!" The lizardfolk seem to enjoy the attention.

Re: Cormyr - The Tearing of the Wave
The dangerous elf stands up, over the now dead banelar, he wipes off his dagger and places his weapons back in the respective sheaths. He looks to Axara, "Yes, there are many things I do rather well. Killing is definitely one of them."
Standing above the banelar, Ryxikor decides to start his searching with this creature. The elf searches the entire body of the creature for anything of interest.
Once he is done with the serpent creature, Ryx helps Quill and the others search the undead, especially the leader.
Not able to understand the draconic, Ryxikor is clueless as to what is transpiring between the lizardfolk. but he is surely amused as he sees the two males bowing down to the female. The elf just shakes his head, not understanding their culture.
While Axara speaks of healing and rest, "Where do you propose we rest, priestess?", Ryx moves into the room the large undead leader emerged from, hoping to find something of value.

Re: Cormyr - The Tearing of the Wave
Looking uncertain for a moment, the stoic warrior looks at Axara "Nay, no true hero, lady, just doing what needed to be done." After, he bows to her before turning to the others.
Retreiving his javelins and spear, he looks around. "We should make sure this warren is clear but, if anything comes in here they will no that they are under assault." Turning towards Quill and Maesyn he says "Can either of you fabricate an illusion that would make one of the rooms look like it does now, devoid of anyone? Or a corner, perhaps? I have no idea what your magic can do. In the mean time, if we choose this area, we need to do something about these rotting corpses."

Re: Cormyr - The Tearing of the Wave
Axara looks at Ryxikor and gives him a devious smile "So typical of men ..... Always think that they are better that they really are ..... Be careful of your claims, Ryxikor, I might ask you to prove they are true." She winks at the elf before going towards the wounded Savin.
"Savin, you were a real hero. After you got cursed and looked in terrible shape, you did not step back. You moved forward and engaged that monstrosity of aberration. You never thought of your own safety but instead of saving the group. That was very heroic and chevaleresque, like the bard stories of knights in shining armor. I find this very exciting." She uses the wand 4 times on Savin. "After a good night of sleep, you will be at full health, especially after I remove that curse the banelar put on you."
She uses the wand on herself 3 times smiling at the lizardfolk males adoration of the female. "Regardless of the species, libidos seem to be the major motivation of male and female interaction", she says to no one in particular.
"I think we should make sure the warren is totally secured and we can decided to rest here or go back and rest in the ruined keep. I have no preference. I think that security measures are needed to avoid bad surprised. This plane is not a friendly plane. I miss light and the sun. And regarding the banelar corpse, we could put it the prisoner pit to rot there. but first, I need to do something."
She takes out the symbol of Cyric, spit on it and throws it in the pool.
Ryxikor goes to what is left of the leader of the shadowscale. He sees the shiny greatsword (+1) and a breastplate, both made for a large creature. The monster also had 5 javelins.
After that, he enters the chief's den. Clearly this chamber is the lair of an important lizardfolk. Exotic pelts from various creatures are affixed t o wooden frames, decorating the chamber. Gold and platinium coins, gold goblets and various objects showing sign of wealth are lying on the floor.
Ryxikor's eyes brighten up and he starts counting, becoming the Accountant of the group. He find 1,700 worth of GP and 72 worth of PP. Axara cast a detect magic to help him with his inventory counting. There is 4 matched gold goblets, 2 scrolls, one magical short sword, one wand and one magical studded leather. The rogue-warrior also find a dagger belt with 5 regular dagger in it.
The goblets appear to be of old Cormyrean vintage.

Re: Cormyr - The Tearing of the Wave
Ryx just smiles as the cleric chastises him. After searching the bodies of the dead, Ryx moves to the leaders quarters, "Whoa." Ryx mumbles as he sees the treasure, "Looks like we've found a little hoard."
The corners of his mouth barely turned upwards as he quickly counts the treasure to see what they have found. However, the elven mercenary has his mind on the short sword, armor and daggers. Having just put on a magical mithral chain shirt, and seeing no one else using swords, Ryxikor is hopeful nobody will be interested in the short sword and daggers. He unsheathes the short sword slowly, carefully examining it, until he looks up to the others, "Is anyone interested in these blades?" Eventually, he looks at the pelts, trying to figure out what kind they are and if they may be worth taking.Last edited by puffmagicdragon; 2013-11-07 at 04:38 PM.

Re: Cormyr - The Tearing of the Wave
Maesyn retrieves his crossbow and assesses the situation.
"We do need to make sure the warren is clear; that will help ensure we are not surprised overnight. But even so, I would prefer resting in the keep. That way we are near the Dusk Lord's Passage if we need to return to our own plane quickly," he says.
He approaches the Lizardfolk and bows. He speaks in Draconic and in fact is still in his Lizardfolk form; he briefly explains that he is an elf and has used magic to disguise himself. "All three of you displayed great bravery in fighting this beast. Your names should be long remembered among your tribe, to whom you should now be able to return. I suggest you travel with us back to the keep, where there is a portal that will return you to your swamp. Do you know of any others within these walls that still require rescue?"
Maesyn glances at the short sword Ryxikor is examining. "I might have use for the short sword, depending on what enchantments are placed upon it. But since I owe you all for this cloak, perhaps it's best if I simply continue counting my share of this treasure against my debt."
He attempts to read the scrolls. If he cannot, and Quill cannot, then he uses read magic on them.

Re: Cormyr - The Tearing of the Wave
"While I am flattered that your thinking so highly of my illusions, muscles. But they will disapear as soon as i fall asleep" Quill responded to the rangers question to him. "And as there where no guards placed at the entrance... I can't see any real reason to do that anyway"
Quill thanks his familiar for a job well done and asks her to scout the western room.

Our bard hasn't rolled that bad but just incase it is not enough for the scrolls, maybe it is better if quill will spend his read magic cantrip

Re: Cormyr - The Tearing of the Wave
Savin nods in agreement with Maesyns words. "That makes more sense, although I dislike the idea of having to retreat and fail in our mission."
To Ryx's question he says "I have no need for them unless the dweomer on the armor is more powerful than mine, but the only way of knowing it to test it out, I suppose. I will get it a try after we rest."

Re: Cormyr - The Tearing of the Wave
"Oh? You may have use for the sword? Do you grow tired of you magicked rapier you took not a tenday ago from Mhair's lair?" Ryx asks the bard with a wink. The elf unbuckles his own rapier, and buckles the sheath of the short sword in it's place. After checking each of the daggers in the belt, he buckles it on. "What now? Clear the rest of this place or rest?"

Re: Cormyr - The Tearing of the Wave
Axara smiles at Ryxikor Regardless of the race, if it is not libido, it is shining or magical things.
The cleric nods at Maesyn I like your idea Silver Bard. The Dusk Lord Passage does provide us with an exit if needed but our work is not done here.
Ghaan looks a little sad when Maesyn tells her he is not a lizardfolk You are not a unique silver lizardfolk. How disappointing! Steersissk and Kruthaak smile at the revelation and high five each other behind GHaans back. The female continues We like the idea of going back to our swamp. We can help go back safely to the ruined keep. We will be glad to be out of that curse place and more importantly, be able to tell the tribe that the shadowslains are no more.
She turns towards the other two lizardfolks Do you think there are other nestmates? Kruthaak shakes his head. We were the last not turned. Everyone else what taken, one at a time.
The bard tries to deciphers the scrolls but is not able to. Quill gives it his best shot but fails to do so. Maesyn then casts Read Magic and realizes that one scroll is a Neutralize Poison scroll and the other one is Cloudkill.
Quill loyal Assistant goes to the west room and finds an empty den. Crude pieces of pottery, wooden utensils, a stone-lined fire pit and nests of thick moss make up the chambers furnishing but nothing seem to have occupied that chamber for some time. This is the stark reminder that before becoming shadowslain, this lizardfolk tribe was thriving in the shadow plane.
When Savin indicates failing the mission, Axara smiles Resting to regain our strength in our fight against evil is not failing our mission. And regarding the magic items, I will try to identify them tomorrow.
Ghaan and the two male lizardfolks go prudently check the south room which the banelar tries to escape from and a scream of pain can be heard. Axara rushes to see a room with desiccated skulls of lizardfolk mortared into the vbranches of the walls and ceiling. In the middle is an crude altar with a symbol of Cyric crudely painted on it. Around the altar are numerous fractured eggshells, littering the floor.
With a broken voice, Ghaan says This was the egg chamber. We lizardfolks put our eggs here so they can grow under the protection of their deceased tribemates. They were all crushed.
Axara gives a hug to Ghaan, approaches the altar and destroy it with her mace. She senses an area of evil and notices silver dust on the floor. This is where they must have sacrificed and created the undead
Steersissk shakes his head Poor tribe of Shadowscales. They followed a crazy leader and become instinct.
