Currently working on a post Outside that will basically be a siege of a city. Once it gets rolling we'll be talking full-scale street-level warfare of a modern/sci-fi level.

On one side we have the City-State of Thessaloniki ruled by Governor Flavius Octavius. He's bidding for an independent Thessaloniki that doesn't need to deal with the taxation and military draft imposed upon it by The Legion. Most of the people of Thessaloniki believe that The Legion is interested in their City-State only because of their mineral wealth.

On the other side we have The Legion, an expansive empire that exists on one of the many worlds that touches the Nexus. Thessaloniki has been part of their empire for hundreds of years at least and significant public funds have been spent improving the region and beating back Nexus-born invasions that plague the area. The Legion means to capture Octavius, execute him, and return order to the region.

In anyone is interested in doing some warish RPing or squad-level combat feel free to join in. Both sides of the conflict are more than happy to hire mercenaries if your character needs an excuse to be there.

Would three Excelsior soldiers, currently cut off from the Hivemind and missing most of their gear, fit in? They're fairly accurate marksmen, good in close combat and have non-superhuman level boosted strength, but none of the usual fancy Excelsior-made railguns or armor, so they probably won't be too powerful for the plot.

Railguns aren't unreasonable in and of themselves. Just an alternate way to propel a payload. What matters is how powerful they are. If they pack as much punch as a cruise missile then that's probably too strong =P

Excelsior is Riv's new hobby, a buncha cloned goons with more firepower than common sense who go around stealing any advanced tech they can. These three got stranded after a mission that sunk into deadtime and are currently bored out of their minds, hence why they'd be working as mercenaries.

Are there any rules or mores in place as to taking up a creation of a Player that has not been around the Nexus for... About two years? More or less.

At least, I haven't seen Draken around for ages. And more of a location than any PCs, I should note.

But yeah, anyone know if there is any procedure in place or should I just go ahead when I'm ready to do the stuff I had in mind?

re: Outside invasion stuff.

It wouldn't be unreasonable if a squad of Cylons happened to be passing through the city on their way to Inside, and happened to be caught inside when the siege began? They wouldn't be fighting on any side in particular, at least to begin with. They'd mostly be trying to get out without getting shot at over much. But their leader is a paladial sort (adjectivizing the word 'paladin'? Oh yes I can!) and could probably be convinced to join whichever side seems to have the moral high ground.

If that's not quite appropriate than I have another band of more conventional mercenaries I can throw in. Medieval themed, but capable and experienced at taking on modern weaponry as well. They're just traditionalists.

Man, Rebo's plot in Outside is sure getting crowded. I considered throwing my hat there, but not only do I not have anyone appropriate but I dislike large-scale combat in FFRP.

I was thinking more of so many players in one place, then everything gets stuck on pause because someone disappears, and eventually everyone gets confused about what's going on and quits posting.

Anyway... for those of a less martial bent Beachside is open, and has been advertised on Wallchan! Anyone who has been personally invited by a Moff, or who saw the advertisement, or who might be near a beach for whatever reason, is invited.

How many people are there now? I haven't even posted for Teq yet.

Also, which side has more people? I'm inclined to try and balance the numbers a bit, and Teq has good reason to join either side.
