The Huntress teaches strength.

The Huntress teaches honor.

If a thing is too weak to survive then it dies. But by the same token... there are times when compassion is not only honorable, but also required to show one's strength and pride.

The Wanderer turns back toward that sad, twisted creature. He feels a twinge of sympathy for it. And to ignore his instincts would be to ignore his own pride.

"Be still," he says as he draws closer to the flailing abomination. "And be silent. I will cut you free."

And with that he draws his blade and thrusts it into the ground, causing a curtain of sand to erupt from a quickly expanding crack as stone is pulverized into powder.

Whaaaaaaaat.

"Oh gods."

This... No, this definitely cannot be happening. It took all his non-existent skill and slightly more existent bravery, not to mention a healthy dose of magic items, to kill one of these things.

Three?

No way. Just no way in hell Dwayne can fight three of those monstrosities at once. The only thing left to do is run like hell.... Except... Well, there was that girl who the really scary revenant-thing kidnapped. And she's probably in even more trouble than he is, if that's even possible. What kind of hero would he be if he didn't so much as try to give chase, even if it's only to track the foul demon to it's lair so he can summon the proper, much-better-trained-for-dealing-with-these-sort-of-shenanigans authorities?

Not very much of a hero at all.

So, the solution is to obviously run in the same direction the revenant went! And for that, he needs to somehow get around the ghouls currently charging towards him!

With this in mind (subconsciously that is, he didn't actually stand around and puzzle out that whole overly long train of thought) Dwayne ducks into a side alley, heading for a handy fire-escape. Not sure how fast the wights in pursuit are or how much ground they've got to cover, but Dwayne isn't precisely weak or slow despite his inexperience at adventuring, so there's a fair chance he'll make it a flight of stairs up or so before they reach. Or maybe not, who knows.

[Street With Creepy Thing]

The beast strains and pulls against its caught foot. Suddenly, the pavement turns to sand around it and the beast surges free. It lets out a keening cry, a mix of surprise and relief, as it lurches forward. It's limp arm flails out in the air behind it as it nearly loses its footing and falls over. But its free leg lurches forward, spasticly bending in three different places to plant itself down in front of the other. It sways a little, but doesn't appear to be in any danger of falling over.

Still bent forward, the beast's head turns independent of it's body to look back at its rescuer. It's fleshy pink lips open and close as if the beast was struggling to figure out how to use them for the first time.

"Th-th-aaaankankankankank youu," it stammers in it's high-pitched voice. It reaches out with its previously limp arm, the second still ram-rod straight and the third still uncontrollably twitching. With a smoothness almost jarring against the non-euclidean movements of the rest of its body, the arm extends and even grows to reach out to the wanderer. Slowly, it's rigid and gnarled fingers open to reveal a single orchid blossom in its hand, vibrant and pink against its soft yellow skin.

The whole display is horrifically disturbing. While the wanderer is quite certain this... thing... isn't Discordant he can tell it is unnatural to the highest degree. Nothing should be able to move like that.

As it stumbles away only to reach toward him he watches the limb carefully as the fingers slowly part to reveal-

-a boon.

Of what sort?

The man can not say.

It may be nothing more than a simple flower. But he has the sneaking suspicion that it is more than that.

He'll except the blossom with his left hand before striking his chest with the right. "Go in the strength of the Huntress, stranger. Let honor guide your steps."

Our adventurer hides in a very brave fashion!

The Wights come around the corner and...

Don't see him.

They search around for a few minutes, but quickly seem to forget that he even exists. Out of sight out of mind, apparently. Though that doesn't stop them from noticing other people that are alive...

Like that small group of orphans carrying boxes of kittens!

After the Wanderer takes the flower, the beast's fingers curl up into a gnarled fist once again and its hand falls limply to its side. Its head rotates to face forward, twitching to either side almost rhythmically. With each step that it takes, its legs seem to grow longer and gain a new joint. By the time it turns the corner, the beast's legs are folded up on themselves like an accordion.

The Wanderer is left holding an orchid. It still has a stem, about four inches long. Perfect for threading through a button hole. The flower is clearly magical - he can feel it humming in his hand. It's pleasant, even soothing. What magical properties it may have, though, he'll need a spell-caster of some sort to find out.

[Street That Formally Had a Creepy Thing]

So yes.

Clearly a Boon. The wanderer knows all about those. Usually they were an object dear to a Fragelon, a Whip of the Huntress, while they were still alive and mortal. When they ascended to stand at the Huntress' side in the great hunt some small amount of their power would be invested in objects they left behind.

In Boons.

He takes the flower and places the stem through a small hole in his many-layered outfit. He intends to wear it with pride!

It would seem his instincts have not failed him and the Huntress saw fit to reward his initiative. Onward!

The wanderer continues on in his trek through Inside!

Vidalia watches the floor bubble and melt for a moment, then looks back at the zombie/wight/evil spirit. Does that slime do what I think it does? Vidalia asks with the tiniest hint of fear through a mask of determination.

She whips a tendril out and will attempt to rip its other arm off.

Zombie would probably work.

"Melt things?" Freddy suggests tentatively before directing his four fox-fire wisps to dart onto the monster and begin burning the crap out of it. The creature screeches horrifically and flails around as it attempts to right itself, but every time it does the Huldra clobbers it with his soul-orb again.

Seems he isn't too keen on letting it use that spitting attack again.

Eventually it falls still, all black and charred and sizzling.

"Kid, do you know the kind of premiums there are on evil thrones made out of the trees of perpetually dying dryads? You have to have a special license just to handle wood like that, and if you're looking for that kind of stuff, you might as well go to the Nefarious Construction Co. down on Arkham street. I keep my fingers outta those pies, yannow?" The foreman belches a bit and rummages around in one ear with the tip of his pinky finger.

"Treehouse is no good either. We got plenty of em grown, but I'm not gonna sign off on one fer a couple with kids. Falling from a height like that would not be good for a tyke, and when youse come around looking for who to sue, I'm not gonna be tha one that gets up on the stand, nosir."

Finally, after what seem like forever, he pulls out a blueprint and lays it out flat in front of him, "Ere we go. Had something like this in mind fer a while, S'one of those unnerground type places, like a burrow, hollowed outta a nice big hill. It'll keep cool in the summer, and if we dig some vents deep enough we can get geothermal heating for yer floors, so it'll be hot when you need it without payin for electric heat. If youse're set on having a cabin, we could build an extension aboveground fer a bit extra. Just be a simple log thing, but we can have it watertight in a few days."

The folks at the NCU don't screw around. If they say they'll have your house built in a few days, it'll be built in a few days.

"Yeaaah, good point," Adir says about the tree-house. He just treads around that comment with the undying dryads - probably doesn't want to know.

"Anywho, that sounds good. A little hobbit-hole type deal," The stag gives Sakura a glance. Given that he really shouldn't be in any house but the dog's right now, he's basically a slave to her opinion. "What do you think?"

Sallianne and Pearl are indeed there. Sallianne is following along grumpily. It is almost as if this group has no respect for me. I didn't even want to be here, helping this soulless catgirl. But here I am, doing what the Goddess Neirian demands, like a good little devotee. There are more important things to do that help some non-believer find her stupid soul. she thinks to herself.

Pearl on the other hand is happily following along. She not paying too much attention to where they are going, looking instead at all the interesting people and strange shops. Her eyes are as big as saucers as she tries to take it all in.

And the group as a whole is heading toward the main market and then.... the midday rush begins. Irene's souldar may become fuzzy as the crowd grows.

Last Night; A Dark and Stormy Evening

It was terrible weather outside. Absolutely dreadful! The lightning-storm raged and the rain poured heavily. Such storms tended to happen, but then again. You can't really forecast the Nexus weather can you? The wind was howling fiercely too. It was around three 'o' clock in the morning. It was all dark and people were asleep in the cozy houses that dotted this generic Nexus street. A young woman walks on her way back to her newlywed husband. She had just come from working at the bar a few blocks down. She usually got out around this time too. She was tall, beautiful, with long blonde hair and light shimmering blue eyes. She walked fearfully with her umbrella shielding herself from the torrent of rain. She had never liked storms. Her first mistake was not bringing her friend, who also worked at the bar, to come with her home. They both lived a house away from eachother after all.

She walked down the wet cobblestone path and looked around. No one on the streets, nothing...no carriages, automobiles, flying gizmos. None of the usual contraptions that could be found in this odd world of the Nexus. The lack of people around unnerved her, and rightfully so what with the seeming abundance of evil people in the Nexus. Her black umbrella is suddenly thrown back by the wind and she drops it. She bends down to pick up the umbrella. Her first mistake in a series of fatal ones. Then, as if he had just appeared when she was picking up the umbrella was a man! He wore a black trenchcoat, gloves, and clothing that covered his entire body. Seems the man (Or woman, you can't really tell seeing as the clothes are so thick.) liked to keep his identity unknown. The young barmaid continues walking down the street as a faster rate. The man scared her. Was he...following her? Yes. He was walking just behind her. Gazing from under that hood. Staring at her. She could feel his eyes on her.

She comes to a nearby alley before running in and turns to face the stalker-man. Her second mistake. But he's gone! As if he never existed. But why couldn't she get the feeling she was safe. That there was something watching! Something hiding! Something behind her! She turns again and sees the man standing at the end of the alley, blocking her way out. The other end was a dead end. She was stuck. By now she starts crying. This person was following her! Leave my alone! She shrieks, but it is almost lost completely on the wind. That and the only man who could've possibly heard them through the house adjacent's thick walls, was an old deaf man. Thew man in the coat just stared hungrily at the poor woman. He or she(Possibly it!) then walks toward her slowly, softly, menacingly.

The young woman reaches to grab a knife out of her pocket. I will kill you! Leave me alone! Or....Or I'll call the police! I'll scream! The figure says nothing. Then a huge bolt of lightning stretches across the sky. She turns her head for a second away from the man. Her third and final mistake. Then when she turned back to the man! He was gone! But then she felt behind her, a pair of arms encircling her waist, a hand going to her neck. The feel of a sharp knife cutting her throat, exposing the warm blood. She never even screamed. She gurgles and falls to the ground. But the man wasn't finished yet...He saw her body on the floor. He couldn't leave her there! He looked into a bag, obviously magical seeing as he pulls out a sharp hatchet. He then proceeds to chop the body up into small pieces. The hatches rises and falls for about five minutes. His shadow as the lightning bursts rises with the hatchet as he chops down, and down, and down again.

Then he takes about the task of cutting off her finger. Then using it to write a message in wall on the blood:

He/she/it then disappears into the night. Morning comes. A rotten stench slowly makes its way into the streets of Inside. Smells like rotted flesh. Could be investigated! This sounds like a job for Sherlock Holmes A PC!

[Chase on Limit Street - Shadowside]

Mayhala hisses in annoyance as Dragan tosses the glowsticks at the area where her friend is hiding. Though in some ways, it does help her. After all, since all of the light sources are in front of him, his shadow should be quite strong.

So, assuming he has no magical protections that would prevent such things, and that there's no other reason she couldn't, she'll form a thin cord out of his shadow, and slide it up his armor from behind, then, unless he notices it and is fast enough to move out of the way, slip it around his neck and form a noose, which will then quickly start to tighten.

Dragan certainly notices the shadow noose appear, and lunges forward, avoiding it, then spins around, casting light everywhere as he draws a curved blade with the hand not holding the gun. As he does, so he shouts into his headset: Requesting backup! Being attacked by magic!
In response, a roar of the engine can be heard in the distance, as Anatolij quickly closes in. He stops his bike next to the fence in a matter of seconds.
Immediately afterwards, the rest of the Fast Response squad along with a combat priest teleports in next to the building, since there seems to be an immediate danger from someone willing to kill Remnant officers.

The first person here is- oh, it's that nurse person that Harnel met when he was first here. The one with the robotic arm. You remember her? No?

In any case, there is much rushing and hurrying to get Cessie into the proper room and get her comfortable and all that.

The rocketfairies are here, but they don't react like they did last time. While at first one or two follows the group, seemingly only out of curiosity, as labour progresses a few more will come up. The rocketfairies will mainly just keep tabs on Cessie's vitals, watching for any complications. They are silent and stay out of the way, though. This is completely against what Harnel last saw of them, with the swarming and the clicking and buzzing...

Harnel, unless asked to stay outside, will stay as close to Cessie as possible to give her support and the like. If he's not allowed, he'll pace worriedly outside the door and keep mental contact with her, doing his best to make sure that she's alright

Beyond that, we can probably timeskip right to the end of the birth.

Indeed, we should wait for Adir and Sakura to arrive to the hospital however. Harnel and Cessie should be in some delivery room in the hospital I suppose. The sorceress seems to have been subdued a bit with painkillers but is still obviously in pain, gasping for air from time to time.

[Theater Plot]

The front of the theater isn't precisely well-lit, so Fade should be able to slip right on in through the main doorway without encountering many considerable problems or obstacles. Likewise for Jane's situation. I think that strolling on in through the front doors like regular play-goers might be an all-around more effective, though, as it would make them appear less suspicious and their cover wouldn't have any sort of chance at being blown, presumably, even without disguises as they aren't at all expected to show up guns blazing for the opening of the play. A quick preview of the plot is ongoing, presented by a short human male wearing a jester's outfit indicating that approximately one round of posting remains before the first act actually opens and everything goes to heck.

Get into position, folks! This is going to be an intensely rickety rollercoaster once the shooting starts up!

Jane is expecting higher security than there is, even though she's seen little. She's kind of weird like that. She reaches into one of the inside pockets of her cloak, and pulls out three satchels of Semtex explosives. While setting them in a small circle, she signals at Teq to meet her at her position.

The faceless corpse keels over when poked. The inky void oozing orange goop seems to have vanished, revealing nothing more than an empty open skull. Seems the thing is well and truly dead.

Freddy shakes his head. "No. Whatever that other thing is I think it's down in the basement. I've been avoiding any passages that lead down there just in case."

SUDDENLY!

There comes a crackling sound like a cross between a thunderclap and shattering glass as a wailing specter is drawn out of the cadaver, arcs across the room, and is swallowed up by the strange skull-like sigil carved into the opposite wall of the cafeteria.

The rather loud noise causes the Huldra to jump!

"Gah! What was that?"

As the sound that so frightened Freddy fades away, another, smaller sound timidly pokes into the air. It's quiet, but it can't be that far away. In fact, it almost seems to be coming from the kitchen adjoined to the cafeteria.

Low and pathetic, a soft mewl tiptoes through the air, and is followed by two more.

She'll spot Teq across the street, atop the roof of a decrepit apartment building. Within moments, he scales the theatre, appearing beside Jane with a frown.

"You're going to blow your way in?" He furrows his brow. "Won't that be a bit... loud? There's non-hostiles inside." Too much attention is, of course, bad.

Adir and Sakura roll up in short order. Adir turns off the hovercraft and hops out to unfold Laela's stroller. Once they've got Laela set, they presumably make their way inside and approach the receptionist.

"Uh, hey, did a red scaly-looking guy come in here with his pregnant wife? They're friends of ours."

"The noise is intended, my plan is to minimize civilian casualties by scaring them away. I want this done quickly, and they'll only get it the way." As Jane speaks, she pulls out a rope, a silenced high-cal pistol, and what appears to just be a steel dowel. "Do you have a method of communication with Fade?"

"I do. What should I tell him?" Teq asks. That belt he gave Fade is for more than just defense.

((You can either have Adir and Sakura decide on things onscreen, or just handwave it and have the contractors add in whatever rooms are needed as you think of them between yourselves.

Some examples of decisions would be what the flooring should be, how many bedrooms, how many baths and halfbaths, closet space, what size kitchen, and storage.))

Inside they go! Sakura can't help but look very eager. She's worried for her friend too, but excitement and pure optimism almost completely smother that.

Dragan has no intention on playing by the fugitive's rules, and investigating one place to have her escape from another would be a textbook mistake. He produces a flare - an industrial strength glowstick - and throws it onto the deck, where it emits a bright light. Then he throws another one in front of the shed to lit up that general area. He then begins to throw the light from his flashling around, trying to spot his mark in the now considerably better-lit area.

The flare rolls onto the deck behind her, backlighting her form as she springs up onto the deck's railing. The flickering lights and shadows of the flair are just what the half-vampire needs. Her black clothing absorbs the light, making her body a blop of darkness that seems to devour the light while her obsidian black wings reflect the light, bouncing it in many directions, making her look even more intimidating than her normally fear-inducing form. There is a hiss as she cusses in her native tongue at the sight of how far away Dragan is. She will have to spread her great wings to swoop down on him.

With a grunt of pain she unfurls the huge appendages. Just as Dragan turns away in response to the noose she dives at him, aiming to wrench the gun from his hands and pile-drive him into the ground. She still thinks it is loaded with glop rounds, and she has a plan for the gooey projectiles.

Aaaaaaaaaand GO!

Touching the Huldra is harmless.

Kissing him is not.

"Your stolen memories!" Freddy replies. Poking at the flame will cause it to stick to the girl's finger and just sit there. It'll feel warm and familiar. "I guess I need to take all of them before they get mixed up with all the other ones inside me."

A beat.

"And... uuh... I'm really not sure how to get them back inside of you either," but at least it's the thought that counts? No doubt experimentation is in order! That's the best way to figure out how to get memories back inside one's head! "Eat it, maybe? Or breath it in? I really have no idea."

Time to try something new! And hopefully those little blue sparks aren't anything bad. Or anything from the Huldra glomming onto the memories, which could also be bad.

Joy stares at the sticky glop of fire warmly clinging to her fingers. The blue tones reflect in her eyes.

"Hmmm..." she murmurs as she rolls the fire between the fingers of her right hand, nearly lost in thought, pondering his suggestions.

"I wouldn't want to eat my memories. Stomach acid couldn't possibly be good for them." She muses. Her musing tone sounds a good bit like Luna Lovegood from the Harry Potter movies. Something oddly faraway about it.

"I've never had the chance to get my memories back before... they've always been erased... but never returned..." Then she suddenly blushes furiously. Seems she didn't mean to mention that last bit.

She suddenly speaks very quickly, all the faster to get the focus of attention off of herself. "I know, if it won't burn hair I'll just put it on top of my head and let it sit there for a bit while I decide what to do with it! That way we can move on and do other things and the right choice will come to me later." She nods furiously, sending her oddly styled mop of hair bouncing in fifteen directions at once. "The best ideas come when you just let them flow, you know? Force the issue and you end up doing something stupid. I'll just perch it up here."

She then reaches to perch the blue blop on top of her head between the two messy little pigtails that stick out of her unruly blue-black and bleach-blonde two-tone mop.

"And then we can...." she glances about, looking for inspiration for what they should do next.

"Go." Dave said as he removed his hands just as Wes will do it.
If she does do it, the kid's heart monitor will go back to normal.

Westlanna shocks the kid just as planned, and sighs in relief as his monitor goes back to a rhythmic be-beep, be-beep, be-beep, be-beep....

"What happened? We need to correct the root cause before he goes into arrest again." She notes tersely as she reaches for his chart to see what kinds of meds the kid is on etc.

"Ummm..." the Huldra is honestly a bit befuddled by the woman's actions. She lost memories before? And she sure seems uncomfortable about that subject. Probably best not to bring it back up. That would be rude.

The teeny flame will sit happily atop her head, flickering in a subdued sort of fashion. And that all at once-!

It will jump back into her head!

Oh hey! Memories! Well that was certainly simply enough. Sure beats flailing around for days and weeks with no idea what to do with a tiny bit of flame sitting on top of one's head.

And then looking! This particular street seems to be rather popular among dread lock-haired hippies. Or maybe Hippymancers. They seem a bit spacey. And they smell kind of strange. A few are strumming guitars and composing poorly conceived music.

"Are you sure you're alright?" Freddy asks, sounding concerned.

The chart simply reads the basic medications for pain and sedation for this sort of case.
"One minute he was stable...the other he went into cardiac arrest with no warning. I'm thinking some rare heart condition, but I wish I had more info to go on. All I have is this pokemon trainer I.D. from him." he said, handing over the I.D. if Wes wants to see it.

Teq reaches for his ear and touches a comm device - almost looks like a hearing aid with a little wire that winds into his mandibles.

Fade should receive a message - through his belt, actually. A small compartment in the belt holds a matching comm transmitter, complete with a microphone for two-way conversations. "Fade. Fade, check your belt. We're getting ready to move." He continues whether or not Fade picks up. "We need a signal when the first act starts. Two minutes, then Jane's going to evac the civilians. Be ready."

"Oh. Well... maybe we could work with you to plan it? We're a little new at this," Adir says with a slightly sheepish smile. "We can afford quite a bit of dirt. How many rooms, though... well, three bedrooms, for sure. Two bathrooms. A kitchen, a dining room, a living room, a den..." Adir has all sorts of ideas. And those rooms are just the basic 'necessities'.

Sakura grins when Adir mentions three bedrooms. Yay, he remembered. Best to have the rooms for when they're eventually filled. *nodnod*

Hm, now Sakura needs to think. She has so so little experience with these sorts of things. "Yeah, we need lots of room from a growing family." She glances at Adir, her smile only growing wider. "Um... Oh, I need a good place to have a big garden outside."

Light reflects poorly off a tarnished uneven dome. Small eyes glint through fogged and smudges lenses.

A suitable target is found.

With all haste afforded little limbs it darts from the safety of its hiding place and snatches the unwatched purse of a commoner busy negotiating the trivialities of a purchase she will not be able to afford due to sudden circumstances.

She screams as the small bandit retreats swiftly down the street, carrying its purloined goods triumphantly.
