Tanstafaal dosen't even wait to see if Baffu's attack was sucessfull before casting away his own spell, trying to hold off the attackers.

He takes only a moment to fuel his spell with dark energy (charged spell) and shoots both Balron and Derek with a fell enervate split ray of ice
    "PÓÓÓÓ DE DIAMANTE!"

Additionally, he uses the cirlet of mages as a swfit action to retain the split ray of ice spell he has redied as a 3º level spell.

While Balron blindly charges at Eustacio, a piece of moss drops from the ceiling, falling over his eyes, making his charge somewhat "more blindly". He misses an attack that would otherwise put the evoker down. Bad for him, great for Eustacio.

Eustacio can hear a warning in his head:
"Beware his sword. It's very long, and you can't simply step away and safely cast your spells, you'll have to cast it defensively."

Baffu, the newcomer, place his draconic gautlet right in Derek's face and deliver a blast of fire. The fire looks almost transparent, and it's like time itself runs slower in it's wake. The swift dwarf seems to realize the nature of the breath and take some supernatural effort to withstand it's effects (Moment of Perfect Mind, the immediate he readied)

    Derek will save
    (1d20+16)[26]

Tanstafaal shoots his signature split ray, now a dangerous enervating split ice.
Derek, who is indeed swift, manages to dodge the ray like it was a harmless arrow.
Balron isn't so lucky. With his defenses completely down and with the accuracy of the elf, the ray strikes right in his face, weakening him in the process.

Olave is ready to charge at Tanstafaal, but Derek seems to notice the elf is almost wanting him to try. So he says:
"Beware Olave! This elf is up to something nasty!"

    "Owh... Ok then!"

So Olave, the Stubborn, end up charging at Baffu.

His charge, even though is with a shield, looks pretty frightening. (he's using a maneuver and power atk, and Balron's stance grants a bonus to charges)

The slow effect over Derek stopped now, and all you can see is... that you can't see him anymore. But it looks like Haroldo holds him tight, not for only. With the same swiftness Derek disappeared, he also seems to teleport away, as you see the tiger falling down, like the invisible creature in his pawns weren't there anymore.

Balron got a cold breath in his face, and it angered him even more. Tanstafaal landed yet another ray, enough to make the dwarf burst in rage.

But his rage was fruitless, because Haroldo uncerimoniously finished Balron's life, and you won the combat.

"Eh. I was 4 vs 3, you know." says the disappointed Morbeus.

"Pfff. My colleagues won fair and square, admit it."

"All right, all right. You proved your worth. Now you can drink from the fountain, it'll restore your health and rememorize some of your spells."

You look at the water in the fountain. There's still algae floating, doesn't sound too much edible. But Kain guarantee that this water is what is being used as model for the new elixir formula developed by MAU (you even tasted this elixir in it's experimental stage).

Assuming you drink from the fountain (because why not?) your HP is full, including the near death Eustacio, and you recover the equivalent of 9 spell levels of spells.

"Bugs me why someone would venture beyond." Says Odysseus. "Anyway, proceed with care, the once pathetic gnolls got powerful allies and are waging a ferocious war against the duergars."

"Perhaps we could use such war to our advantage. Two enemies waging war against each other is better than just one enemy focusing on us, I say."

"You do as you please, farewell, mages." Says Odysseus, with Morbeus echoing the "farewell". And saying that, they open the door.
At first, you can't see a thing.

Kain creates a faint light at the top of his wand, enough to guide you through the ruins.

"We will close the gates now. Don't worry, we will open for you in case of emergency." Reminds Morbeus.

The door closes and the room gets even darker. If you have torches, light spell, darkvision or any other means of enhancing your vision, you better use it.

"Ooook. Now we really have to proceed with care. This environment is pretty hostile. And if memory serves - and hell knows it's been quite absent those days - this is gnoll territory."

    Kain sights at Eustacio.

"Really guys, always prepare for darkness, we are dungeon dwellers now. But don't fret, I'm sure I have plenty of those on my backpack."

He puts his tiny lizard hands inside the magical bag and fetch some scrolls of darkvision.

"Yup, plenty of them. Seriously, I have a library in my bag. Well, anyone who needs the spell, take it, I'm confortable with the darkness."

Assuming you used the scrolls or already have darkvision (in case of scrolls, they give you 15 hours of darkvision) you settle down and try to grasp a bit of the environment.

There's a lot of moss and fungus, much more than in the entrance hall. Kain point's out this place was an market, presumably to trade with outsiders. There's a rivers running in this place, you can hear the water flowing. There are some columns also, they're not just connecting the floor with the ceiling (which is pretty high) but they sport some doors and windows. They're probably former markets or residences.

It's not total darkness, though, so you can see some colour. The whole place looks somewhat yellow or orange, you can't tell for sure. But the architeture does look very impressive, even after being deteriorated and filled with moss.

It's when you're scouting the environment that you see the silhouette of a humanoid with hiena's head. The shadow aproaches and you're now sure it's a gnoll. Just one. And he doesn't look like he's readying some offensive actions.

"You look like you lost your way, intruders. What business you bring here?"
Says the raspy voice belonging to the gnoll.
"Don't try anything funny. There are literaly dozens of crossbows pointing at you right now."

    What you do?

"Protection from Arrows?", think Eustacio telepathically with the rest of the group.

If anyone agree Eustacio activate one rune in his shoulder and grant himself Protection from Arrows.

    Kain telephatically tells you:

"I think casting a spell can be considered as doing 'something funny'. Chances are we will be pierced by some couple bolts before you finish.

And I never found gnolls this close to the gate before. They were always some incompetent hienas, uncapable of the smallest achievements. But those guys? Those guys aren't like the gnolls I know, for real."

The gnoll looking at Baffu reacts with a very angry face, making he look uglier than before. He seems to draw his weapon - presumably to scare you, not to attack you, you can't tell exactly - when another gnoll suddenly appears, like an invisible spell was dismissed and signal to the first gnoll to stop.

This gnoll who just appeared certainly has a very distinctive appearance. He is pitch black, battlescarred and, you can't be sure, but he does look somewhat undead. Unlike the first gnoll, he doesn't seem angry or scared, but amused at Baffus threats (I'm considering it a Intimidate check, it was a passive-agressive threat anyway. And yeah, you didn't suceed completely).

"Bash our skulls like pumpkins, you say?" The voice even raspier than the first gnoll, like it was struggling to be heard. "Sure you could."
"Can't blame you, kid. You look like you pack a punch. But you're simply not aware of the situation."

Turning his face to a aparently empty space, the gnoll proceeds
"Go back there and lit all the torches. Our guests feel unconfortable in this darkness. And tell the zemorats to dismiss all the invisible spells. I want those mages to glimpse at our pack."

After saying that he turn his face to you, still smiling. It's a slight, almost mocking smile, like the ones when you know something that other people don't. Seconds later, all the lights in this big room. It's very wide and high, with numerous columns with doors and windows. The central column is the biggest and sport a very bright emmanating light.
There's a chasm in the middle of the room with a river flowing. A improvised wooden bridge connects the two sections.

    "Ok, now the invisibility!"

When the invisibility fades, you can see the dozen of faces the first gnoll spoke earlier. 60 gnolls are bearing crossbows, all of them menacingly pointing at you. There are other 20 gnolls with melee range weapons, which includes the first gnoll.
You can see two other gnolls in a different outifit with a weird hat that looks even funnier in the head of gnolls.

There's also a very intriguing creature. "Zemorats" Lokopor and Kain says telephatically. They are humanoid mice, pearly white with red eyes, they wear a brown robe and are the size of a halfling, perhaps smaller. The only two features that make them different from a simple combo of mouse+human is their foot, who are actually hands. So they are four hands total, all with very long and thin fingers. The other feature is their long and thick tail that splits in three in it's final segments. Sometimes the use their tail like a tripod and use all the four hands simultaneously. There are 4 zemorats in this room.

"We didn't finish. The last thing we've been hiding is also one of the most valuable, and you better fear it if you consider yourselves mages. It's what made our pack so formidable.

Galgo! Tell the zemorats to make the web visible!"

And now you see. It's like every being, except you five, are connected by thin spider webs. Kain seems genuinely scared. "An eldritch tapestry!" He says, not telephatically, but it's like he let it scape from his mouth. Which is more than enough to make the black gnoll laugh.

"Yes, kobold. This is our pack. All the gnolls that belong to the pack are one with each other.

But fear not. Why be enemies when we can be allies?"

One of the gnolls directs to the black gnoll and tells, in a shy manner and in gnoll language, so you can't understand unless you know how to speak gnoll. Whatever he said, he pissed the black gnoll a big deal and end up hearing what you believe to be a harsh sermom.

"Can you believe it? Some gnolls are skeptical about allying with outsiders. Bull****, I say, the ones who weaved this tapestry so vluable to us were those small creatures, the zemorats. Damn sure I'll ally with outsiders. And yeah, we can lead you miles and miles further inside the mountains to wherever you want. One hand wash the other, right?

By the way, name is Fargo, and I have a proposal: One of our captains, Jonah is his name, is a traitor a shame to the pack. I didn't want to simply kill them, they have to live in misery for a while to serve as an example. However, I just had a most intriguing idea. We would put both you and Jonah's squad in a arena, and you - how you said? - bash their skulls like pumpkins with your spells. That might make an impression in two ways. Our comrades would understand what happens to those who turn their backs to the pack and also to value you as allies. What you say?"

"Do you think you can handle hundred of gnolls embebed in tapestry? Because I'm seriously considering fighting against their traitors. With their help, we might arrive at our destination earlier than normal."

    - Make a proposal he can not deny... quotes Baffu with his iconic sarcasm. Well, I have a proposal too. Yours seems to be a fine pack, a pride and, I should say (Baffu turns his head to gaze the gnoll's ranks), resourceful group. And we, although freakish powerful, lack the manpower to face some of the incoming events, mage stuff, yours should not be put into such boring talk. So, I propose an exchange: we give you all the never-****ing-betray-the-pack"lesson", so important to keep solid large parties like yours, I totally agree with you, and you lend to us this turn cloak captain for a time. For a time I mean until he dies. After that we would gladly turn back his remains to the pack. So, what say you, Great Leader? (1d20+17)[19] diplomacy

Fargo looks to the talkative man. He looks more serious now, that you're acepting a temporary alliance.

"Well, I have no idea of what you plan to do with Jonah, the traitor. But I demand that you kill him in the arena along with his traitor squad. All I can do is put you with him in a separate cell so you can interrogate him or whatever you intend to do. After that, we will have a fight tonight between you guys and his squad.
    Now follow me."

The gnolls looks more relaxed now and are heading to the western door (there are 4 total, you entered the south one).

I assume you just follow them and you'll soon arrive at their dungeons.
If anyone has a different idea you can post it.
